I 100% recommend Learning Plus. We started my daughter just before she turned 4 as she showed an interest in reading. She is now almost 10 months into the program and it is amazing how well she reads. She has fun, recognizes words now as we read other books together and picks out words on TV or signs or food packages. My daughter goes once a week for 30 minutes and has homework each week that we work on throughout the week. I can't speak to how well the older kids do with the tutoring but it has been a great experience for us and I would recommend them to anyone interesting in finding a tutor for their kids. read more

My boys have been attending Learning plus tutoring this summer and they absolutely love it! In fact, they tell me they much prefer it to regular school. All the teachers are very nice, the class sizes are small and they make learning fun. I am so happy that I started my son here for tutoring! He was behind grade level for reading and I wasn't getting enough support through his school. He's been doing two sessions a week for about 4 months and he has almost caught up to grade level! Not only that, he has more confidence in his reading and it has even helped other behavior issues in class (I think because he isn't so lost not being able to read). At the last parent teacher conference that I attended, my sons teacher let me know that my son was in danger of being retained in first grade. It was time to get him some extra help. I read lots of reviews and Learning Plus seemed to be the best choice because of hours and other reviews. Sue and Rachel are so patient with my son and they pack so much review into 30 minute sessions. My son has now increased his reading level by 6 levels just since November. Uneven, but basically worthwhile. We have been at Learning Plus for about a year. My child enjoys the session and has made measurable progress. I like that they go back to the fundamentals and work systematically, step by step, to make sure that no errors of understanding go undetected. However, the materials are seriously dated and unattractive; the office is hot; and the tutors speak so loudly in their separate cubicles that there is a lot of hubbub. Also, they are Scientologists, though they have been very respectful of our religious boundaries. read more

My son started going to Learning Plus around the age of 5 when he was learning to read. He was doing ok in school but not great. He started getting help in reading. Their reading program is phenomenal and the improvement was amazing. He is now in 4th grade and goes once a week for comprehension and spelling. The best part is, he loves it! My daughter has attended 2 years of the summer camp here and my son started last year. They both are not very enthused about school, but loved the camp. The teachers make learning fun and both my kids wished they could have gone to camp longer (I never hear that from them about school!!). The camp only goes through 8th grade, so this will be my son's last year in the camp. Below is what he wrote about his camp experience (reprinted with his permission): "When I came to Learning Plus on the first day, I wasn't so happy. But my experience here was amazing. I really liked all the activities we did in writing. I was really proud of my five paragraph paper on great white sharks. I learned how to really organize a paragraph, with topic, supporting, detail, and conclusion sentences. I was really behind in math, but now I think I'm getting better and better. I wasn't really happy about all of the math homework, but I was able to get it all done, and I know it was to help me. Vocab was probably the most fun thing to do. I was proud of myself when I got good scores on the tests. I was also very proud of myself when I finished all of my lessons early, which helped me with my tests. If I could change anything, I would put in grass so we could play more games. This summer camp was one of the most fun summer camps I've ever been to. If you ever need help in school, you should come to this extremely awesome summer camp." read more

My daughter has been going to Learning Plus since 3rd grade. She is now in ninth grade. She has been working on her math with the same tutor, Rachel. Rachel is very good at explaining Math. My daughter often comes home from school without understanding new Algebra Math concepts but after working with her tutor she is able to understand and do her homework. Her tutor is very patiente and she always makes herself available on a short notice when my daughter really needs help and doesn't have an appointment. Sometimes working really late. I really have the feeling that Rachel cares about my daughter doing well in Math. Going to Learning Plus gave my daughter the confidence she needed in Math. My daughter took Geometry in 8th grade, and thanks to Rachel's great work, my daughter was able to pass her Geometry placement test so she does not need to retake Geometry in high school. I usually wait in the waiting room while my daughter is working with her tutor and I always see children who are excited to meet with their tutor. The other tutors seem very friendly too. I will continue to take my daughter to Learning Plus because she is getting a great one on one Math education. I highly recommend Learning Plus because the tutors are great and really care about the children's progress. read more

The summer program teacher to student ratio was 1 to 6 in my sons class. Most of all my son went from hating school and homework to being excited about learning. read more
