Five Below - Storefront

Five Below

This location just opened a little over two weeks ago. Everything is brand new. The multiple self…read morecheck out stations work great. There are multiple employees drifting around helping customers. Great and friendly service. Five Below is the very best store anywhere to buy charging cables for cell phones and tablets. They cost $5.95 for a 10 ft cable and $5.55 for a five foot cable. Six foot cables are available as well. Depending on the location, some of their stores honor replacing non working cables free of charge. Regardless, their cables are good quality and last a long time with reasonable care. I buy my cables here exclusively. They also have a great candy section with items not commonly stocked elsewhere. A lot of retro candy as well. Other areas they stock good inventory for are fashion accessories, pets, gifts, and toys. Parking is plentiful in the giant lot for this sprawling shopping center.

My daughter and I had an employee that was obviously following us around the store the entire time…read more I felt like I was being stalked. I've never stolen anything in my whole life, and I had $500 on me with no need to steal. This woman conveniently had to "move around" small items on every aisle we went down, and then after I paid and went to put my cart back, she ran to the door and was staring at us and trying to rubberneck at my receipt and in my bags. Trust me, there were some sketchy looking people in there, but we were not the ones who were it. I would rather drive to another city than ever go back here just because of her ruining our experience. My daughter saved up her allowance to go by "preppy stuff," and we felt like we were criminals.

Who would have imagined that I would be a fan of this store?…read more I remember my mom bringing me to these stores when I was a little kid. I don't remember much other than it was lots of junk that I had no use for. These days the store is a bargain hunter's dream. I was able to come to this store and do most of my Christmas shopping. I bought gifts for kids ranging from infant to eight, gifts for adults and a couple of home decor items. Despite the large quantity of items, my bill was very reasonable. Here are some of the items you should come for: Stuffed animals - Webkins for $2 Kid toys - $20 for items that are $40-50 at other stores Small electronics - If you have an older Iphone, they had a boatload of accessories. Furniture - Desks and small couches Home decor - Expensive looking mirrors and other decorative items. The store was packed, but the lines to pay moved smoothly. I can't believe it took me this long to go back. If you're looking for a deal, check out Tuesday Morning.

I'm a fan of Tuesday Mornings in general and so since I'm currently on the hunt for a lamp that I…read moreactually like that doesn't cost a million dollars, I thought I'd stop by this location yesterday. The parking lot is a bit tricky to get in and out of. And parking is at a premium in this small shopping strip. I was a little surprised that in upscale Mandeville this shop is looking a little tired, even more so than my usual location on Airline. But they did have lamps galore...the only one that really tempted me was a robin's egg blue lamp and the brand? From the Olsen twins! How crazy is that? Ultimately I realized the base was a bit too large for what I want. Tuesday Morning where you go to learn that the girls from full house have a housewares collection.

Alas, all good things come to an end, so does this location. Years ago, I raved about this place…read morebeing a nerd-vana? Now, it's nothing like that. All the little things that made me want to drive out to this place are dead and gone. Shelving for old X-Box, PS, Nintendo, Sega, Atari, and Intellivision games? Gone. Replaced by row upon row of soulless Funko Pops. Boardgame section? Hardly any used and all new... and no real reason to buy there as opposed to Amazon or other online BG retailer. RPG section? No more 1e D&D modules or older materials, or anything else for that matter. Just the same old 5e crap, with Critical Role mixed in, with video game guides slowly spreading into the section like a cancer. The only good thing was not in the store, but in the parking lot, where they had a car show going on. The place turned from nerd-vana into just another BAM! bookstore (the owners of 2nd & Charles). Won't be back.

We discovered this mecca of used books, video games, role playing games, music and comics years ago…read moreon a road trip between Florida and Texas. It used to be a Books-A-Million from the same chain. They have a great selection of used tabletop RPGs that also includes some new products at full retail price. It's a huge store that buys from customers. Getting into and out of the parking lot is difficult because U.S. 190 and service roads are confusing and traffic is chaotic. I use my phone to navigate even short drives in this part of Covington.
