I came across Tutor Me SF online and saw that they offered both in-person and online tutoring. At this time, we were only interested in working with a tutor online due to COVID. I spoke to the company and they were so knowledgeable and familiar with helping students and creating a plan for the kids during COVID so they do not fall behind. The company set us up with a credentialed tutor who has been tutoring the kids everyday for 5 hours a day and it has been working fantastic. This way they are not falling behind (Our biggest fear) and the tutor seems to keep the math and english session engaging which is so important. No kid wants to feel like they are going to school and I think they did a really good job at doing that. For Math tutoring, the tutor assigns homework and does weekly assessments. We feel like this is the most effective educational experience we have purchased and are so thankful for their service. With everything so crazy right now with COVID, this is the way to go.

I have been taking the online class format with Ju for several months. I am a heritage Mandarin…read morespeaker, with strong conversational skills. I decided to take lessons with Ju to improve reading and writing skills, as well as more deeply advance my knowledge of Mandarin. I opted for her online learning format, because it is better suited for my busy schedule and just as effective as compared to in-person. Ju is knowledgeable and patient, always willing to explain concepts. I like her customized curriculum and homework that she tailors to each student. For advanced and heritage speakers, she can create personalized lesson plans to target specific areas of improvement. I highly recommend Ju for advanced Mandarin speakers as well as in general, for your custom goals for Mandarin learning!

She follows a well-regarded textbook, but using both spoken, character-based, and auditory inputs that have helped me solidify learning from week to week. Ju's style is also quite personable and I have enjoyed chatting with her about things like family, where we live, and general cultural references. For those who want to study Mandarin, I think it's important to say that because the language is unlike many Romance or Germanic languages, it requires daily attention in order to flex new muscles of both tone and visual character learning. Ju has been helpful and patient helping me put together a homework structure that really helps me retain information, combining use of Skritter (app) as well as listening and reading.

His approach to the essays, MBEs, and particularly the PT completely changed the way I approached the exam. He helped make difficult concepts and strategies feel much more structured, manageable, and practical under timed conditions. What stood out most to me was how much he genuinely cared about his students and their success. His guidance, materials, and encouragement made a huge difference in my confidence and preparation. I'm very grateful for everything he taught me, and I'm happy to say that I ultimately passed the California Bar Exam. I truly believe his tutoring played a major role in helping me get there.

NOTE: This is a review of Chris Kane during the live online course. This format is delivered online…read morebut the instructor is casted to the students with a web cam and and interact with the students in real time. _______ I registered for the Monday/Wednesday live online class with Chris Kane over the phone with Farrah. She was very helpful and went over several details of the course and what I was getting when I signed up. Additionally, she provided me with a great example of how the live online course format worked in order to prepare me for the experience of using it for my course. After I registered and paid for the first of three payments, I got a box from Veritas in the mail that included 12 course books, an essential guide to some of the top MBA programs, and a dry erase packet and pen that mimics what you'll get on test day. You also get instant access to your online student portal after you register. To be honest, Veritas gives you so many resources that it's initially overwhelming. They do a great job of giving you first steps that helps you work through the student portal and the books systematically. This is mostly given to you in the first of the course books. With these learnings, it becomes very easy to use the online portal effectively. Chris was truly a wonderful instructor. I don't know how he does it but it really feels like he gets to know his students throughout the course. He gets really good at letting each of us know what we were probably thinking when we selected an incorrect answer. It's creepy but in a good way... although still creepy enough that we talked about it class. How does he know?! He was great at entertaining us through our lessons with stories about his past students and experiences as a GMAT instructors. Our incentive to do well during class was a $10 Amazon gift card. You'd think it was small enough not to matter but everyone in class is trying to get a 700+ GMAT score and get into B-school which means they're all incredibly competitive. Overall, Veritas Prep gave me the instruction and structure I was missing in my GMAT prep. The curriculum doesn't offer any shortcuts. It's meant to give you the tools you need to understand concepts and strategies at a deeper level. After two weeks of practicing post-class, I can see the difference in my thought process with practice problems. I highly recommend not only Veritas Prep but any course with Chris Kane!

Then, I read some reviews and decided to take a class with Ethan/Veritas -- one of the best decisions I've ever made! The software used for the online classes is actually surprisingly good - in addition to great video quality and the ability to submit answers to problems in class, the chat function allows you to ask questions without feeling like you're bothering everyone (and you're able to have a bit of fun/humor with it). But what really makes the class amazing is Ethan - he is hands-down the best test teacher I've ever had. - He really knows his stuff. Not only did he score very highly on the test himself, but he's been teaching the class for a while and can even speak to overall patterns he's seen with all the students he's worked with over the years. He really makes the most of class time so you never feel like you've wasted time. -He's patient. Ethan and his TA, Chris, were always extremely helpful both in class and responding to emails. They proactively and privately check in with you to see how you're doing and see if there are any gaps they can help you with. -He's got all the tricks. Ethan really has a trick for every single type of problem, whether it's verbal or quant. Veritas already has a great methodology for each problem type that comes in the book set, but Ethan has even more materials that he developed himself to help you with things like pacing (uber important), strategy, and memorizing special cases. -He's funny - it really helps! I found myself cracking up a couple of times during the actual GMAT thinking back to a couple of the pop culture references and jokes Ethan and our class had together. I ended up increasing my score by nearly 100 after the class. I highly recommend taking the Veritas class with Ethan if you can.
