We recently used the Duarte field area for track and field practice with my daughter's school, and it ended up being exactly what we needed. The grass is fairly even, which makes a big difference when kids are running drills, and there's a nice amount of shade around the field. Parking was also easy, which is always a bonus when you're arriving with a group after school. We went on a Monday right after school, and it was pretty quiet when we first arrived. By the time we were leaving around 5:00 PM, the baseball fields around the park were definitely filling up with teams starting their practices, so it's clearly a popular spot for youth sports. One of the things I really like about this area of the park is that there's a running path that loops around the whole park, so it's a great place to run or walk while practices are going on. And because you're right next to the Sacramento Zoo, every once in a while you can actually hear the animals. It's a pretty fun and unexpected little background soundtrack while you're out there. Helpful tip: If you want a quieter experience, earlier in the afternoon is best. By late afternoon the baseball fields start filling up with team practices. Between the open field space, shade, easy parking, and the path around the park, it's a really great place for practices or just getting outside for a run. And the occasional zoo sounds definitely make it memorable.

Watching my son play on this well-maintained field in a massive, one-of-a-kind park is just one of the many reasons why I love Sacramento. There are a number of fields in this complex, so I suppose this review goes for most of them. They all have dugouts and backstops and clearly marked fields with a combination of dirt and grass. I won't say they are the best maintained, but they do the job when it comes to youth sports. Another plus is that most of the area is well-shaded by massive old trees during the summer months. So as a fan, you can enjoy your little person as they enjoy the game and do so from the comfort of bleachers in a nice shaded area.

They have tennis courts, basketball courts, a playground, plenty of picnic benches and seating around the park, a pool, and they have public restrooms. We enjoy walking around the park, watching the animals in the pond, and exploring the rose garden. There's a lot of green space which allows my dog the perfect opportunity to sniff around when he's tired of walking on the paths. I like that there's easy parking here, plenty of shade, and a large space to explore so we can enjoy a quick walk or a longer adventure.

Right next to the playground is a great duck pond. It was a huge hit with the kids and provided a nice, scenic break from the climbing and sliding. There are no nosebleed seats like at some of the parks. Today we sat in section 102 row 22 seats 12 and 13. When we first arrived sun was right in our eyes, but it went down pretty quickly and it went from 81 down to 67 degrees. When you enter in you wish you wearing shorts and by the 4th inning you're glad you brought a jacket. We could feel the wind on our faces at times. The seats we had were great. I did move over a seat due to someone was sitting directly in front of me and it was hard to see. That is the only down side of the area, you are looking left and someone could block your view. We did not partake in any of the concessions, but boy did I want to. Everyone looked so good, but we had dinner right before the game so I couldn't justify getting more food. I saw a lot of people with crunchy chicken tenders and crispy fries. I could hear the crispness of the fries from the guy sitting next to me. One party of 13 all got hotdogs. I could tell as they were sitting 2 rows in front of us. The four kids got dipping dots. The adults also consumed pretzels with cheese sauce, garlic fires, and a pizza. They also brought cuties and boxed drinks for the kids. Sutter Health Park really go there money's worth out of that party. I was temped to the Cotten candy as I'm a big fan, but I was afraid it was too squished and loss of airiness due to it was all shoved into a bag. I'm a total fan of fresh cotton candy. They allow you to bring in a reasonable amount of Sun Flower seeds and Peanuts. I'm going to bring some next time. I just get the muchies at the games even if I just had dinner. All that eating around me and especially the garlic fries get my appetite going. My husband didn't even get a beer which I was really surprised at. He did indulge in a glass of wine when we got home and I solved my salty craving by having some Cheeze-its. We have tickets for 3 more games this season. By the end of the season we will have gone to 2 RiverCats games and 2 A's Games and 2 Giant's games in SF. For us that's a lot of baseball. We have the Caps, t-shirts, and jerseys so we are all set with the gear. I have numerous Giants Jerseys and I love wearing them. Though I do find them hot in the summer time.

Background Attended a May weekday night game, Las Oaklamento vs. the Cards. Sat on first base side, I'd say the lower deck but Sutter Health has only one. St. Louis prevailed 6-4, fitting because their fans were far louder than those of the home team. Supposedly a nearly full house of 11,000 attended although there were a lot of empty seats. Stadium I mean, it's a AAA field, so you get what you get. Fans do sit close to the action and the weather is nice once the sun goes down and takes the heat with it (first base side is the sun side, but not a problem after the first inning or two). There's a single scoreboard in right field, adequate. Other than that, amenities are quaint (limited) and intimate (limited). Food Basic ballpark fare available. One Yelp reviewer calls it "Aramark's finest" which makes me laugh. Hot dog was OK, just OK. What's Unusual Pretty much everything about seeing a regular season major league game in a minor league park. My wife first suggested we not go to a game here, but not sure when, if ever, we'll get around to seeing the team once it moves to Vegas. Then she said that I shouldn't do a review of Sutter. But look, the John Fisher Debacle* was not forced to Sacramento due to a natural disaster or other unforeseen concerns, this relocation was entirely self-inflicted. Summary Sacramento is a beautiful city, especially the areas surrounding the river, and the people we met were very welcoming. All I remember that this was one of three baseball fields in William Land Park. After all these year the baseball field hasn't changed a bit, and I still can't hit the darn ball ! From walkers and runners, to kids on the playground and people taking advantage of the green areas. I love that there are so many trees in the area, so even when the sun is out there's a good amount of shade. The park has a playground, tennis courts, baseball field, basketball court, and so much green space. On our latest visit a stroll through the park was just part of our adventure, since it's walking distance from some great local businesses. We were able to get some fun outdoor time, enjoy some coffee, and do some shopping.

I ran here today and not much has changed-which is good. I was still able to complete my usual route, but it is always hard to get back into running after more than half a year of non running. This park is great for tracking without any tools or apps. One whole lap around the park is just over a mile. Lots of locals walk/run around the park. There's also one basketball court, 2 tennis courts, 1 baseball field and lots of grass areas for groups to play sports. I've seen flag football, soccer, rugby, little league and just people doing sprints and back and Forth. There's also a playground for kids to enjoy, which I've seen in use Everytime I come here. Overall, a good park with lots of activity and generally safe. I can't wait to come back more when the weather warms up.

The city of Sacramento does nothing about this field where there are too many potholes in the ground that leaves so many injuries to anyone in the league. Potholes are really dangerous and neither have the grass has ever been cut at all the past few months this year. All the city has to do is cut the grass at least a month and cover the potholes up where nobody gets hurt. Is it too much to ask???

In the summer, they host food trucks on the last Friday of the month, which is always a treat. The park has lots of shady areas, two playgrounds (one for bigger kids and a smaller one for toddlers), and a track for walking or running. You'll also find fields for soccer, volleyball, and baseball, plus BBQ areas you can reserve. The neighborhood is safe and very family-friendly. One of the best parts is the public swimming pool that opens during the summer. They charge $3 or $4 per person, which is very reasonable. Just a heads-up--this year, they're only accepting cash at the pool. It would be helpful if they posted a sign in the parking lot to let families know. I've seen a few frustrated parents who had to unload all the kids and gear, only to find out inside that they couldn't pay with card. Despite that hiccup, it's a wonderful park for families and we're grateful to have it nearby!

This park also has a pool which is open for the Summer season. I have visited this park for many year, even had my dog do obedience training here in years past. It has a nice walking trail through the park, and has baseball diamonds which are usually packed during the week nights in the summer with leagues playing adult coed ball. The pool is my happy place! I have attended many water aerobics/aquacise classes here over the last 5 years consistently. The pool is always well kept. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the parking is pretty full, but usually you can find parking pretty close to the pool itself so that is pretty nice.
