Around 4:00-4:30 AM, an employee attempted to enter my hotel room while my five-year-old son and I were inside. The incident was incredibly unsettling and left me feeling unsafe for the remainder of the night. What made matters worse was seeing the employee and another individual laughing in the hallway afterward, while I was left shaken and unable to go back to sleep. The following morning, I attempted to speak with a manager. I was initially told she would arrive between 9:30-10:00 AM. When I returned around 10:30 AM, I was told she had arrived but needed to leave and would return approximately 40 minutes later--after checkout time. I later escalated my concerns to Marriott and expected, at minimum, acknowledgment and meaningful follow-up regarding such a serious incident. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive any meaningful response or resolution. Mistakes can happen, but attempting to enter an occupied guest room in the middle of the night--especially with a young child inside--is a serious security concern. The lack of urgency, accountability, and follow-up afterward has been just as disappointing as the incident itself. I expected much better from a Marriott property.

Disappointing, waste of time…read more On 1/18 I asked via Instagram for a quote for 150 guests for an event in the month of September or October. I was told $6500 all inclusive and given a price list. On 2/4 I met with someone at the venue as was told the price would be $12,000 (and although the price list includes the DJ, the DJ is not included), but there was currently a special for it to be $10,000. I mentioned the $6500 quote I was originally provided, and he said that was due to 100 guests. I went back to my Instagram messages and I was clear that it was for 150 guests. On 2/5 I followed up with the Instagram messages and explained the discrepancy in quotes I received. I was then told the $6500 was for a special last month. I let them know I wasn't told it was a limited time special and asked if they could honor it (January is only 6 days ago, and again, no one told me I had to book in January), I was told no, they would not honor their original quote.

The way they handle business is very suspicious and for that reason, I wont book with them. They are not responsive at all. I am having to repeat details and still no pricing offered. They want me to waste time going to the venue but won't give me rates. If I can't trust you to provide the slightest details via text or phone, I'm not wasting time in person. Do not book here. They have multiple locations and most likely using promo from their other locations to boost this one.

What makes this stop so wonderful is you can visit so many artist studios in the same location and see some of the other featured artist in their gallery. We saw at least 10 artist studios. All different mediums. My favorite was on the first floor and our last exhibit of the day. What caught my eye was a miniature commercial building in NY full of artist studio/homes. I talked to the artist and she said it was inspired from an actual building. She said when it first open ended it didn't have indoor plumbing. Over the years as you could see it became full fledged apartments. I'm so thankful that Verge has put together these Open Studios for us to explore annually. There is so much great artwork available for viewing and purchase in the Sacramento area. There are so many studios that open their doors all over Sacramento for those 2 weekends. We don't visit a lot of them due to the driving and time constraints. Parking- There is only street parking that we are aware of of. Beware of the signs as not all parking spaces are equal. Some have a limit for 2 hours not including Sunday and Saturday and Holidays, paid parking all the time, 1 hour parking all days. Bathrooms- They have 3 sets of bathrooms all on the first floor that I'm aware of. Some of them are genders neutral and others are labeled men's and women's Classes- Verge offers classes for children and adults. I haven't had the opportunity to take any classes, but I have participated in their clay lab which is fun. Check out their website for additional information.

"The Midnight" Put On Great Show In This Venue!…read more SITREP First time here! Never been to this venue before, so I was excited to check this place out when we got tickets to see "The Midnight" show this past Sunday evening, Sept. 20. THE SETUP First off, we got tickets for the Band's VIP pre-concert meetup requiring us to be there by 5:15pm (Doors officially opened @ 7pm / Music started @ 8pm). The venue is pretty spacious, and I'm just talking about the entry-way lobby: Large windows, beautiful murals, plenty of people to stand in line, congregate (my own personal gripe: there can't be enough ancillary seating in whatever part of the venue you're in, including the lobby; 64 years old here, not a fan of possibly standing for 7 hours, right?). But moving on, we were ushered in by venue staff into the main auditorium where the band was doing their soundcheck, so we got to watch the band practice for about 15 minutes on some of their songs while we were allowed to hangout and watch. MEET & GREET We were ushered back out into the lobby where we were able to cluster around Tyler - lead singer of "The Midnight" and have a great conversation! There were about 25 of us having an intimate chat with him which was a lot of fun: people asked questions about their music, inspiration for their lyrics, decisions on how many band members to have, etc. I always love pulling the left-turn, throwing a wrench into the flow, and asked Tyler, "How is it travel with the touring logistics with the diesel and other accommodations getting much more expensive? He was nonplussed but did say, "I've never been asked THAT before!" But answer he did. In fact, the band's manager chimed in and they both joked "Hey, if anyone wants to chip in on fuel costs, we're not too proud!" CONCERT The band rocked! Excellent show! The stage was elevated so no matter where you were standing on the main floor you had a decent view of the band. Luckily for us "old folks", there was bench-like seating all along the wall all around the perimeter of the room. Thank GOD. Suzanne and I took turns getting drinks but also managing to not give up our seats. We noticed the large balcony above and hadn't researched whether these were a different category of tickets. We noticed that it appeared (although it coulda been the dim lighting) there were no seats up there but rather three (3) separate rising tiers of bar-like rails for people to put their drinks on and lean against. LIGHTING An excellent feature about this venue - in contrast to it' most obvious competitor ACE OF SPACES - is that Channel 24 allows the venue, if desired, channel control of the auditorium's lighting-system to be controlled by the band's sound engineer: during heavy pulsating bass/drum rhythms, or percussive guitar work, the lights all around the room can pulsate with the songs rhythms. SERIOUSLY cool! DRINKS Ah well. Drinks at concerts, or festivals, or fairs, etc., are going to be expensive. My Jack & Coke, and Suzanne's Appletini were a coool $40 together w/o tip. So FYI. PARKING & MASS TRANSIT OPTIONS The venue is located right off the 23rd Street Light-rail station making it ideal to come to on mass transit with bus stops also conveniently located close. On this occasion, we drove to the venue and chose to avail ourselves of the $30 secured lot just in the next block from the venue (the other side of the lightrail tracks). THE LOWDOWN Channel 24 is a very good venue overall and I look forward to catching my next concert/show there.

I went to see Molchat Dolma. Being my first time, I had no idea what to expect. First off. Well organized line. Its nice the merch area is away from the main entrance. Most of all, you can stand/sit anywhere. You can be on the floor up on the balcony or if you need to stay off your feet the upper seats. The sound was good. I was standing center to the stage. I also like how there is plenty of room for crowds. I like Channel24. This venue makes Ace of Spades look like Chuck E Cheese.
