"The Midnight" Put On Great Show In This Venue! SITREP First time here! Never been to this venue before, so I was excited to check this place out when we got tickets to see "The Midnight" show this past Sunday evening, Sept. 20. THE SETUP First off, we got tickets for the Band's VIP pre-concert meetup requiring us to be there by 5:15pm (Doors officially opened @ 7pm / Music started @ 8pm). The venue is pretty spacious, and I'm just talking about the entry-way lobby: Large windows, beautiful murals, plenty of people to stand in line, congregate (my own personal gripe: there can't be enough ancillary seating in whatever part of the venue you're in, including the lobby; 64 years old here, not a fan of possibly standing for 7 hours, right?). But moving on, we were ushered in by venue staff into the main auditorium where the band was doing their soundcheck, so we got to watch the band practice for about 15 minutes on some of their songs while we were allowed to hangout and watch. MEET & GREET We were ushered back out into the lobby where we were able to cluster around Tyler - lead singer of "The Midnight" and have a great conversation! There were about 25 of us having an intimate chat with him which was a lot of fun: people asked questions about their music, inspiration for their lyrics, decisions on how many band members to have, etc. I always love pulling the left-turn, throwing a wrench into the flow, and asked Tyler, "How is it travel with the touring logistics with the diesel and other accommodations getting much more expensive? He was nonplussed but did say, "I've never been asked THAT before!" But answer he did. In fact, the band's manager chimed in and they both joked "Hey, if anyone wants to chip in on fuel costs, we're not too proud!" CONCERT The band rocked! Excellent show! The stage was elevated so no matter where you were standing on the main floor you had a decent view of the band. Luckily for us "old folks", there was bench-like seating all along the wall all around the perimeter of the room. Thank GOD. Suzanne and I took turns getting drinks but also managing to not give up our seats. We noticed the large balcony above and hadn't researched whether these were a different category of tickets. We noticed that it appeared (although it coulda been the dim lighting) there were no seats up there but rather three (3) separate rising tiers of bar-like rails for people to put their drinks on and lean against. LIGHTING An excellent feature about this venue - in contrast to it' most obvious competitor ACE OF SPACES - is that Channel 24 allows the venue, if desired, channel control of the auditorium's lighting-system to be controlled by the band's sound engineer: during heavy pulsating bass/drum rhythms, or percussive guitar work, the lights all around the room can pulsate with the songs rhythms. SERIOUSLY cool! DRINKS Ah well. Drinks at concerts, or festivals, or fairs, etc., are going to be expensive. My Jack & Coke, and Suzanne's Appletini were a coool $40 together w/o tip. So FYI. PARKING & MASS TRANSIT OPTIONS The venue is located right off the 23rd Street Light-rail station making it ideal to come to on mass transit with bus stops also conveniently located close. On this occasion, we drove to the venue and chose to avail ourselves of the $30 secured lot just in the next block from the venue (the other side of the lightrail tracks). THE LOWDOWN Channel 24 is a very good venue overall and I look forward to catching my next concert/show there. read more

This has to be my favorite music venue in sacramento. I go to a lot of smaller shows that are not at Golden One. Center (F that place) I finally went to Channel24 this weekend. I went to see Molchat Dolma. Being my first time, I had no idea what to expect. First off. Well organized line. Its nice the merch area is away from the main entrance. Most of all, you can stand/sit anywhere. You can be on the floor up on the balcony or if you need to stay off your feet the upper seats. The sound was good. I was standing center to the stage. I also like how there is plenty of room for crowds. I like Channel24. This venue makes Ace of Spades look like Chuck E Cheese. read more

I hate to update this with a bad rating, but my hearing has been DAMAGED after attending a show here. They had usually kept the sound levels here reasonable, but one show I attended was louder than usual. Afterwards, I have had ringing in my ears for the past TWELVE WEEKS. While I didn't think much of it during the show, I obviously would not have gone had I known it was going to cause this much damage. The venue should have posted a warning about the sound being above safe levels, and clearly advised patrons to use hearing protection and made that easily available. I learned too late that a sound level meter would have clearly shown that the sound levels were loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage. I'm normally the last person to complain about sound being too loud, but it's simply inexcusable that any show in a public venue would cause hearing damage! I have sent printed letters about this to the venue, its parent company and the management of the band. I have not received any response at all, not even an apology. I live very close to this venue and had attended many shows, but I no longer can after this. I greatly value my hearing and am now spending much time and money in efforts to minimize the damage this one show caused me. I was very happy to have this place open so close to me, but now I can't wait to move. read more

Recently went to a comedy show here. Our 1st show here. Thr club is on the edge of a residential neighborhood. There are a few parking lots within a short walk, a street parking in the neighborhood. Pre-show we lined up for entry. There is a bar on the 2nd floor. The show room is beautiful with the 1st floor that can have seating, or a stand up audience. The 2nd floor has 3 tiered seating. There is not a bad seat in the house for watching the show. The sound system is very good. My wife and I look forward to returning for future shows. read more

We saw Atsuko last night and were blown away by Channel 24. This facility is very nice and well-thought out in design. The acoustics are great to ensure you get that close-up experience. The tall chairs ensure everyone gets a perfect view of the stage. Nice touch! Make sure you buy your parking ahead of time online or use ride-share as spots are limited in the area. We were able to park the car across the street within minutes through ParkWhiz. The line to get in was wrapped around the building and down the street but it moved quickly. Staff were visible at all parts of the line. I do suggest better lighting on the street for safety reasons but that's just me. Remember to be courteous in the neighborhood! We plan to return for future shows and try their bar next time. Guaranteed a fun night. read more

We got 2 tickets for Bonnie Raitt for a Saturday night performance. There was a choice of the main floor, balcony, or table. We chose a table and it did not disappoint. The line was long but moved very quickly through security. Restrooms located on the main floor were large with many urinals/toilets for men and the women's restroom (according to my wife) had almost no wait as they designed it with many stalls. The venue holds around 2,000 concert goers. The sound system is very good as it should be from a venue designed from the ground up. The seating at the tables were reserved with 4 chairs spaced around a small table. It was nice to be able to put our drinks on a table versus holding them. At the end of the last song of the evening, Bonnie Raitt graciously allowed pictures. We will be returning in the future! read more

As a music venue it's great with modern design and acoustics. However, as someone who lives in the neighborhood, the theater has created more noise, parking issues, and trash (e.g. empty alcohol bottles from their patrons left on our lawns, as well as cigarette butts, wristbands etc). They also seemed to have stopped some of the earlier efforts to encourage non-automobile transportation (like the SABA-sponsored bike parking). I've attended a show here early on when it opened and parked my bike, but have not seen any more bike parking efforts. I wish the theater would do more to **clean up after themselves** or their guests for the neighborhood (such as a courtesy pick of the associated trash in a one block vicinity after a show). The additional trash, noise, and parking issues are a DIRECT result of the venue (not here before it existed) and Channel 24 showing some effort or courtesy for the neighborhood would be welcome. Beautiful venue! I hadn't seen my favorite band in Sacramento since 2014 at Ace of Spades, so I was especially excited to catch them again, this time for one of their two sold out shows at Channel 24. This is a newer venue and it's absolutely stunning. The layout is mostly GA, with some reserved balcony and ADA seating, definitely something to keep in mind when buying tickets. There's also a standing balcony on the second floor that's first come, first served, which is a really nice touch. If you arrive early, it's worth grabbing a spot up there. The smoking patio is unique, though you can't bring drinks outside (understandable). That said, people were leaving their drinks on a table near the entrance. Weirdly trusting lol I arrived after the opener, so getting in was a breeze, no line at all. ID check was quick and efficient, and everything felt well organized. The bathrooms were clean, and with 3 bars, getting drinks isn't an issue. The merch line looked intimidating but it moved surprisingly fast. I took public transit but reading alot of gripes about parking. There's a reasonably priced lot right across the street, plus plenty of residential street parking nearby. The only downside to the location is that there isn't much in the immediate area for a pregame. Very few bars or restaurants within walking distance. The highlight of the night was definitely the visuals. The lighting techs did an incredible job. Honestly honestly, night and day compared to Ace of Spades. I felt like the instrumentals overpowered the vocals at times, so from a sound perspective, not the best. read more

I've had the opportunity to see several shows at Channel 24, and it's honestly been a seamless experience each time. From scanning IDs, scanning tickets, occasionally getting my phone locked into a pouch per the artists request, and getting my bag searched, I've never had longer than a 10 minute wait to get inside. I usually bring a refillable bottle, and they have two fountain stations on the first floor by each door. Bathrooms are also kept clean throughout the shows, and the merch line is tucked against the wall so the crowds can stay moving. As a shorty, I really like the upper levels. It's largely standing room unless you upgraded for a seat, but on any of the three upper levels, there are plenty of unobstructed views and room to dance. Security in the front row sometimes passes out water to those at the rail, but not at all shows. The shows I attended all started on time, though the start time may change from the time you buy your ticket to actual show day. The sound system has also been consistently good - especially with bass heavy shows I've attended. And the lasers are 100/10 (but will depend on your artist). I like that there bars inside (lower level) and outside the main room (upper level), and there's even an outside patio if you need fresh air. I hate that canned drinks are like $20 after tax and tip. And public transit is not really an option, like the venue pushes for, because shows typically end an hour after the last train. Parking through the venue's partners is atrocious ($30? For a 4 hour show? In Sac?), and the neighborhood becomes a madhouse at midnight when everyone is let out searching for their rideshare. The neighborhood surrounding the venue is definitely impacted by this, newly installed 1-hr parking signs be damned. I'm grateful for Channel 24 joining the entertainment scene, and look forward to more artists making their way to our city! read more

People keep referring it to a "mini bill graham" and I can see why. Might be the best indoor venue in Sac for EDM shows so far. Probably one of the best smaller venues in NorCal. The sound system is great, staff were super friendly, and the drinks were fairly reasonable. We went there to see The Amity Affliction and were amazed at just how close we were able to get and also there wasn't a bad view anywhere on site. Guests can also welcome themselves to the upstairs balcony areas that don't have assigned seating which literally give you a view of practically everything. We visited Channel 24 for the first time on Friday to see Durand Jones and The Indications! It was a sold out show, but some how it didn't feel super crowded. The security line moved super fast, so did the bar and merchandise lines! This show was General Admission with a small VIP section and being as I am short, I did have a hard time seeing the stage at times, but the sound and lighting setup were so good! Their audio was some of the best I've heard inside a venue! I don't believe that they serve food - I didn't see anyone eating, but their drink prices weren't terrible either. I was just impressed with the vibe of Channel 24 and it felt like they genuinely wanted to show people a good time rather than charge people and arm and a leg for everything! I recently attended a concert, and was pretty impressed on how well the venue was put together! We missed the opener and by that time the line to get in was non-existent. Easy breezy getting in. Once inside we had a couple of options for GA on the floor and on the balcony. The way the balcony is setup is pretty cool. It's standing bar, so if you are able to snag a spot up there, you won't have anyone in front of your or behind you. It's three levels I think, so get there early if you can to grab a spot. Since we were late, we ended up on the floor and we had plenty of room to enjoy the concert. I thought the sound system was solid (not too loud) and the lighting was done very well. It's intimate and you are able to view the artists from any area. The merch table area was pretty small, but the line moved pretty quick. Overall, a really solid venue. I didn't know what to expect but left pleasantly surprised. Definitely wouldn't hesitate to catch a show here! read more

Was one of the lucky people to be there for the opening day of Studio 24, their add-on ticketed space with its own bar and bathroom space. Staff were friendly and helpful, the drinks were good - the pineapple Negroni was pretty tasty and enjoyable. Opening day meant there were some logistical issues getting the place going, with different answers to basic questions given depending upon who you asked. The ticket also granted access to the balcony. The balcony space had a good video but the little rail to settle your drinks only worked well for things in small cups. I got a water and it felt like it was a risk to have it on the rail since if it fell it would hit someone on the head. All in all, decent night! read more

My friend was able to snag limited balcony seats for us and it was worth the upgrade to not have to stand for 3 hours. The view was great from the balcony! Music was loud and I wish I thought to buy earplugs. Highly recommend either parking further away, carpooling, rideshare, or light rail as their website suggests. My sisters and I got tickets to see "On Cinema Live". I got parking when I purchased my ticket that was right across the street from the venue. I arrived early to get in line and there were staff asking about verifying I.D for those wishing to drink during the event to cut down on lines at the bar inside. Getting checked through security was a breeze. Everything inside was so clean and well managed. The folding seats we were seated in WERE SO COMFORTABLE!!! Once inside the hall, there are standing balconies, I believe 3 of them and then the floor. We were on the floor close to the stage. By the time we got inside the balcony spots were all taken. Get there early if you want to be on the balcony. The sound system was great. The lights were fine. I wasn't a huge fan of the lighting at our show but I imagine it was the bands design choice. We finally saw a band at the new local venue! We went to see We Came As Romans, and it didn't disappoint. The seating was nice, personally I wish there was more seating than the ~200 seats on the upper level, but the balcony leaning section would probably be ok too. If you're interested in someone coming through you might just want to buy tickets as early as possible if you want to sit down, as those will likely be sold out quicker than most. Overall the venue was cool, short time to get in, the sound was really good, and the facilities were nice and clean. I would say the biggest downside are the expensive drinks but I don't think anywhere has cheap drinks at concerts unfortunately. We saw Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit last night. First time checking out this new venue and I have to say WOW Sacramento, great job. (I am sure those living nearby aren't pleased with the impacts on parking and hope the city is stepping up enforcement for them, I used to live in midtown and it's a real issue). That being said, the experience was pretty spectacular. Sound system is great, not overcrowded, in and out quickly, I didn't get a drink but the lines didn't seem too bad. If you're planning on stopping in at the Round Corner for their fantastic tacos ahead of time, allow yourself a good 90 minutes- it's pretty packed ahead of the show. PS. If you're the person filming on your phone after the artist you've paid to see asked you not to- you're an asshole. Just don't. read more

I came here to see Morgan jay with my cousins. I thought the seating was gonna be different it was just folding chairs . The place was packed . There wasn't any parking and although I paid pre paid they still had me park four blocks down the railroad tracks. It was freezing and also you have to get there early for your shower because they don't let you in early . You have to wait in a line outside . Channel 24 allows smoking indoors?? That was my main concern about this venue. Not only was it incredibly hard to see the performers (shout out to Empire of the Sun) in this brand new music venue, the amount of guests smoking vapes (both nicotine and cannabis) was unbearable/overwhelming. Can this be prevented at all? Shame on the visitors for smoking in a brand new venue. My friend who has lung problems left wheezing from how much smoke was in the air. As I mentioned earlier, there is zero slant in this venue. You can barely see the performers because the stage isn't elevated much and the floor is flat. Wish they had modeled this venue like the indoor venue in Wheatland at the Hard Rock. Besides those two glaring issues, the venue is overall nice and new (not for long with all the smoking allowed). The visuals were amazing for Empire of the Sun and the volume clear (bring earplugs because it felt extra loud). Drinks are expensive (as to be expected), about $30 for two hard seltzers, but plenty of bars to order from. Bathrooms were fine (people smoking in there as well). They haven't limited their bag policy to clear bags yet, but I expect it soon. Getting into the venue was fine, but getting a 21+ wrist band was disorganized (try and do this like Ace of Spades before we get into the venue?). Overall, lots of kinks and only time will tell if they get resolved. I hope they do because there are plenty of concerts I want to see there. read more

I have only been to Channel 24 once for a show, but it was a decent experience overall. I had read that parking was challenging so my husband and I parked a few blocks away and didn't even bother trying to find something in the vicinity. I think the premise of having the light rail station right there would help deter some of the need for parking but it all depends on who is attending the show. The venue itself is very clean and modern and I appreciated that there were multiple levels to the standing balcony. I'm reserving my full judgment of this venue until I have another opportunity to come back and see an artist I really want to perform here. I would love to see some more middle of the road artists come through because most of the lineup I saw was pretty obscure. read more

I've been wanting to check out Sacramento's new entertainment venue, Channel 24, since it opened and I finally got the chance when Ziggy Marley came to town on Thursday. The show was lit, and the venue itself is impressive. Everything is brand new, and the sound system was superb. I appreciated the fully stocked bar, and the bartenders were able to handle most requests. The bathrooms were clean and had enough stalls to keep the line moving quickly. The concert area was standing-room-only, though there was a roped-off section on the side with about 20 folding chairs. I wasn't sure if that area was reserved for VIPs or ADA seating. There was also an upper level that looked like it was standing-room-only as well. Channel 24 reminds me of Ace of Spades, but it's larger and more modern. What I enjoyed most was that no matter where I stood, I had a clear view and could hear the performers well. That said, I'm not the biggest fan of standing for the entire shows, especially during intermission. Most reggae concerts promote standing and dancing so I wonder if Channel 24 set out rows of chairs/ seats depending on the artist? read more

There was parking right across the street for $35 which is insane to me. Just park a little further away and walk. Especially since it's so hard to get out of that small lot at the end of the night because everyone is leaving the venue and lots of pedestrians. The venue itself is nice and clean. Security and ticket scanning outside was so quick! Women's bathroom line was long but still went pretty fast. It's all standing, except for some seats at the balcony which is saved for ADA. We went inside about 40 mins before opener started and we were able to get a good spot. Music was loud and clear! I hope they maintain this venue because it's so much better than Ace of Spades. read more

Channel 24 is Sacramento's newest concert venue! I had the opportunity to get an inside look at Channel 24 before they opened to the public during their open house. Inside is very spacious, and the maximum occupancy is 2,000. There's some balcony seating available, but most of it is standing room both at the GA floor and balcony levels. All standing room is first come, first serve and I'd recommend the corner spots on the top level balcony for the best views. Channel 24 has two full bars on both floors and a second, smaller bar on the first floor. They have a few signature options with venue prices, so I'd recommend getting a drink around the neighborhood. I have a feeling that Round Corner will be seeing a lot of foot traffic soon! Pro tip: Reserve parking ahead of time. Take the light rail to avoid it, and please be courtesy of the neighbors. read more

The venue is centrally located in Sacramento only about a $10 rideshare cost. The line to have your bags and your tickets checked is an uncovered area that may be a concern if it's raining or cold once I got in there is a lot of stairs and there is an elevator available. The stating is very limited to the upstairs area. The vibe was great Ziggy Marley and burning Spears. Reggae concert was wonderful. I enjoyed my time. The drinks are very expensive and not that much of a variety was available. read more

Got to be there for the grand opening and Tucker Wetmore's debut! Beautiful venue, very easy to locate and park. Merch was easy to find on the first level, and the bars and restrooms never had a long line on either floor. Tacos 916 was in the parking lot was a hit and we went back for a second round. Great location for venues, but the parking! 30 dollars for an hour!!?? Ridiculous, and the chairs we sat on, in VIP section, fold up, uncomfortable chairs, my back was killing me at the end. Come on now, with all the money you all make with the venues and parking, spend more on comfort, cushioning! Please. I gave 3 stars because of this. Either way the show was 5's all the way! Clean location, spacious, everyone was polite, but having to wait an extra hour to meet Justin was also draining! Figure something different out next time, we had to wait about 30 min before we were called upstairs and waited in line for another hour! The show however was phenomenal! Justin Willman is extremely entertaining, fun, personable, magical!! A must to see him live! Had a blast, lots of laughter, contagious throughout the auditorium! read more
