Chardonnay & Rosé...a nice day for it !!!
    Hugh N.

It would have gotten a 5 stars - but there is a little discrepancy with the way they run their business & cooperation with the AC Hotel Marriott. The hotel staff called but they said, all the chairs were all booked. We showed up, and they have plenty of spots availability. They charged us €15 more then if we would have booked through AC Hotel. Then we asked for the front rows, they said all booked...LOL, it's been almost 3 hours since we settled for the last row. There are still plenty of rooms for two rows front of us. We felt like the transaction were not based on honesty & by snap decisions of the person at the front (host) person. Seriously, this place is half-full & yet they claimed it's all full. It's convenient location across from our Hotel. If I would do this again, make sure I will bargain. Lol! I can't believe they I said this...in NICE??? I would expect this big business would be more transparent with these transactions. Especially, when it offers a "special deal" AC Hotel Marriott. Well, we felt like AC Hotel's guests were mid-represented. We are not looking for any free drinks or stay for free - we are a party of six & we confident that we can handle our bills & contribute to your business. On a fair note: Our serviceman, Charlie, was nice and efficient. Our orders were properly placed and delivered. We enjoyed the time here with our good company. Cheers!

The restaurant is beach front and easily accessible from the Main Street. The lounge chairs are €16 each for locals and €36 for tourists plus €5 for each umbrella. The food choices varies from salad, pasta and steak. Several choices of desserts are also available which I believe is expensive compared to other locations.

Decided on Le Voilier Plage for lunch as it was close to the AC Marriott and it was right on the beach. The views were absolutely fabulous and the service good as well. I had the fish and chips which were good... although I have had better in both London and New York. It's a great place to grab lunch, enjoy the views and sea air and get a reasonably priced decent meal on the beach.

The rose (you've got to have Rose in Nice) was lovely and the truffle rigatoni was very flavorful - HUGE portions.

Great meal in France!…read more This was a fantastic first dinner in Nice right off the main drag. We had reservation for 7pm and arrived a few minutes early. We waited a few minutes while they prepped our table and we were seated promptly. The vibe was cool, very French cafe feeling on the streets. The waiters were kind and attentive was you settled in. They patiently answered all our menu questions. We ordered the fois gras (because when in France), the duck and the octopus. All the food was excellent, the fois gras was perfect (although probably wouldn't order it again for ethical reasons). The octopus was absolutely perfect, very very easy to screw up, but they nailed it; every bit melting in our mouths. The duck breast was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfect. All the dishes were served with plenty of accompaniment. Great meal for a great French experience. Would highly recommend.

Walked over from a nearby hotel and grabbed a table by myself along the busy street. The servers…read morewere very friendly and spoke English well. It happened to be happy hour so I was able to take advantage of some great drink deals. For my dinner, I ordered the duck with vegetables, potatoes, and added a side of ratatouille. It was all very good and the portions were large for the price. The orange sauce was unique and it seemed to have orange peels in it as well. While this might be more of a touristy spot with this location, it was a true French menu, which was my goal. The food and service were very good and I'll come back.

This was our favorite meal of our trip to Nice!…read more Warning: Reservations are hard to come by we dropped by and only reservations available were for 9pm two nights later. We took it. The place is super relaxed. 5 maybe 6 tables which made the difficulty of reservations more understandable. Prix fix menu - 4 appetizers to choose from, 4 entrees and 4 desserts. We were there with somewhat of a limited diet, but the options were awesome. We got a cauliflower appetizer and an artichoke one. Both were excellent. We all had the cod for dinner also delicious - served in a bath of traditional fish soup and with potatoes. The dessert was also excellent - we got the goat cheese in olive oil and garlic, the cream cheese with blueberry compote, lemon cheesecake and cinnamon "tiramisu". Every bite was full of flavor and such cool takes on the food. Now the intangibles - we arrived for our 9pm reservation, restaurant closes at 9:30 and we probably didn't walk out until 11:15 and there was still another table of 8 people dining. The host/waiter, Sebastian, was awesome. So friendly and we at no point felt rushed. In fact the opposite. When our daughter was slow in finishing her meal he joked with her instead of hurrying us along. Once we finished our main dish, he casually brought us our dessert and because we didn't order his favorite (we didn't know) he brought us out an extra to enjoy. We felt a little bad so somewhat accelerated the dessert phase so we could square up and leave. Instead he was unhurried, he casually cleared our table and chatted with us for a bit. It took us another 15 minutes before we finally said could we get the bill. He brought it to us another 5-7 minutes later. We had a great experience and one of our best meals in France, if not the best.

Overall, I'd say the food is a 3.5/5 but the value is 5/5. I'd recommended Chez Palmyre if you want a real Nice experience, especially on a budget. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance.
