When we finally got to the door close to him he decided to ask one of my two friends why he was not smiling. My friend simply didn't respond and continue to look at his phone. Just because of that ( I know it sounds impossible) we were denied entry. He said if my friend would not smile for him we couldn't go in. That if I wanted to come back alone without him I could..... I've never felt more insulted or discriminated in a gay bar before. Our community has endured so much and continues to do so and gay bars should be our safe places. Where we are accepted and not mistreated. We have traveled a lot all over the world, as I type this review we've been for a month all over Europe and never ever at any gay venue we've seen this kind of behavior. I'm unsure of who this gentleman is, I would hope he is not the owner..... would be very sad if he was.

Upon my arrival, our server (whom I assume is the owner) told us to order immediately or leave. As I was telling her my order, she cut me off and said she would return. We were a rather large group, but the bar was pretty empty. We made up about half the crowd. Of the 20 of us, two girls don't drink and decided not to order anything. They were promptly and rudely kicked out. The entire two and a half hours we were there, she never came back to charge us for drinks. By the time we were leaving we had forgotten to pay. We were chased down outside. I kindly returned to pay. At this point, I was charged much more than expected. This was because I hadn't read the crumpled up post-it stapled to the back of the menu noting that all alcoholic drinks are 10€ during "soirée" and I had expected to pay "soir" prices. The lovely lady's response to this was, and I translate from French, "any literate person can see this and understand that". I have never payed so much for such horrible service.

We really enjoyed meeting the latest owner of this wine shop and bar on our visit in Nice. The shop…read morehas been the at this location since 1904, and this is the eighth owner of the venue. On the weekends, there is live Jazz, and it is clear that the owner is very passionate about wine and jazz. He was very pleasant, and friendly, and enthusiastically explained to us that he personally visits the wineries to taste and select the wines. I was visiting with my 10 year old daughter, so we didn't stop by for a tasting, but I would highly recommend this place for any wine enthusiast.
