Surprisingly enough (for being a place labeled "American Brunch") it was one of the best day-time places I ate at while in Firenze. From the second I walked up to the second I left, the service was 10/10. We went during their busy rush, and had to wait outside for about 20 minutes (3 of us dining) and they were kind enough to offer us some extra stools they had so we could at least sit down in the heat. From there, the food and drinks were fast, and the servers all so friendly. Food was delicious. Got the french toast with roasted potatoes, and the borghetti coffee. Enjoyed the food so much, that I am writing this review as I wait for my food, the second time I've come here during my stay. Couldn't stay away! This is probably one of my favorite breakfast cafes ever, let alone in Europe. It's certainly my favorite one in Italy I've found thus far. Tucked away in a smaller street a few minutes away from all the attractions, you'll find great food, great service and a really nice atmosphere. Absolutely delicious! If you are in the mood for English breakfast or pancakes and bacon, this is your joint! Huge menu, smoothies galore, great service, and a all around amazing vibe. I even loved the tunes they played throughout our visit. Highly recommend the King's plate and the salmon and cream cheese bagel sandwich, both served with the yummiest breakfast potatoes ever. After being in Italy for 5 days, we were desperately needing something other than noodles, tomatoes, and cheese- and traditional Italian. This place was BOMB.COM We ordered a plethora of options, and literally everything was good! From the chicken wrap (light and tasty) to the pancakes (with Nutella and syrup) to the avocado toast with poached egg..... A++. When we needed a more traditional/healthier breakfast on our 10 day trip to Italy, we found Le Vespe Cafe close to our air bnb. It's definitely not a traditional italian spot as there were lots of tourists speaking English and American abroad students dining here. Not even sure if they spoke Italian :) BUT it is just what we needed when we were sick of pastries for breakfast. I started out with a green juice (really needed it) and my fiancé got a fresh squeezed orange juice. I went with avocado toast and 2 poached eggs. He had an egg dish with home fries and either bacon or sausage There were some yogurt/granola bowls that also looked interesting! The wasp cafe ... or is that hornet ? What is the difference? Anyway this California style coffee shop has got it all go'in on, amazing brunch great coffee and sweets, full menu of veg food and I love their smoothie / veggie drinks. I have to come in the evening when they have tapas ; ) Their carry away coffees are a little expensive, but I think that's kind of normal here. The staff ladies here are really nice ! Sometimes service for food is a little slow so if you are in a rush I'd let them know ahead of time or just come here when you are not in a rush so you can enjoy the very laid back vibe that this place has going on. I think when I 'm here and I could seriously be back in California, as I am usually surrounded by American students on laptops ( and me too ! ) I have tried their chocolate cake and I would rate it 3 stars ... a little dry, but not bad. Based on this experience I can say: food is good; service is attentive to allergies, vegetarians etc; place is cue; reservations are useful. I did not get the pancakes based on a previous yelper's review, but had the french toast which I liked. I tried a friend's pancakes and regretted not ordering them, because I found them light and excellent. Great little brunch spot, cafe and bar on the east side of downtown Florence. The owner(s) are from Toronto and the brunch menu is named after Toronto neighbourhoods and streets. It took us a second to clue into this because it just seemed so normal at first, but then we remembered where we were. Great vegan options and well labelled menu. They serve breakfast very day of the week until 5pm, as it truly should be. The tofu scramble aka "The Junction" was a little on the small side and could have used a bit more flavour, but they had just returned from vacation and were short some items in the kitchen. I'm not aware of any businesses in The. Junction actually offering a tofu scramble but a girl can dream. Soy cappuccino was good. This place located very close to Santa Crocce is great: beautiful, good food, super welcoming. I had a very good American brunch here today and i hope to be back soon. Do not expect anything Florentine or Italian here, except for the high wooden ceiling: you are traveling directly to the US for a very American experience food-wise, and in a beautifully decorated place, wood, mosaic tables, a very nice mix. It is the perfect place if your are hungry around 11am/12am in a week end. I had eggs with spinach and feta, which come with potatoes, salad and French toasts. The eggs were super well cooked, I mean by that not over cooked as often, and spinach seem fresh: it was a very good omelet. I do not care so much for salad but a lot of thoughts were put on the potatoes with a very good sauce, it was not just random potatoes thrown there with zero or bad dressing. Then, I had pancakes. Well after a month in Italy I was really longing for a more traditional American breakfast and found this little family owned gem! Like most places in Florence it has just a few tables and it's community style seating. They also have an outdoor patio area with a few more tables. I was here on a Sunday at 1pm and greeted with a smile and table ready to go no waiting. They had a great selections of breakfast and the range was from about 10euros to 16euros.. a little pricey for breakfast but I will say they give you your money's worth and you will be full and very content when you leave! The staff was super warm and friendly, the service was very prompt and the food really was great. Considering seasoning isn't big in Italy it tasted sooo good to get these soft yet crispy well seasoned home potatoes, the scrambled eggs we just perfect with salmon and the side of avocado on toast was just a perfect compliment. The other thing, I ordered regular coffee and they served the milk warmed up ! Ha! Take note America why have hot coffee and cold milk lol. They also have a great drink menu of smoothie, fresh juices and Sunday bloody Mary's or mimosa severed a great addition to summer meal. The pancakes were just Perfect and yes real maple syrup! It's the little things. Again, this going to cost a bit more but honestly it's about the same in the states for a good brunch stop so don't let that or little wait stop you from this great little American gem in Italy. read more

As an abroad student missing home, Le Vespe made me all sorts of nostalgic. My friend, Elizabeth, introduced me to this place a few weeks back while we were waiting for our permissos and I've now made it a scheduled Sunday brunch location. Walking into the café, I was instantly taken aback by how much the decor and overall feel of the place reminded me of home. As a native Californian, whose love for brunch and small coffee shops knows no bounds, I almost felt teary in response to the realization that Le Vespe was my gateway to any local breakfast place within The LA Arts District. The food is also very reminiscent of a typical Cali meal- from the scrambled eggs down to the savory sausages. I know Italians are easily confused by our need to directly ingest sodium so early in the morning, but I'm glad they still cater to such a strange inclination. Another aspect of this restaurant, is the fact that the menu takes the diets of various eaters into consideration. With options that range from gluten free to vegetarian- everyone is able to enjoy their meals without feeling left-out or uncomfortable. One minor concern has to do with space. I haven't allowed it to affect my overall rating because with food this great... it deserves a wait (sorry about the rhyming- I couldn't help myself). I've had instances in which it was so packed, a forty-five minute wait was to be expected. So in that case, I'd recommend that if you decide to venture into the streets of Florence for this place- wake up early. Trendy little cafe with good food and great service. Our server was super friendly, something that was not common in most of the restaurants I've been in. They offer a variety of freshly made smoothies but I didn't find anything unique about those. The ingredients did not really work with one another. I ordered the chicken wrap and it was served with homefries and a small salad. I'm not usually a fan of homefries but these were hot and flavorful - ask for their house special hot sauce! Last night consisted of a lot of drinking so all we wanted was a really huge breakfast but we woke up after lunchtime.
