Who knew one of the best eggs benedict I would have would be at an American cafe in Florence! My boyfriend found this cafe online and wanted to try it, it was packed when we arrived. We got seats at the bar luckily. He ordered a fresh orange juice and I got an iced American coffee. We each got the florentino benedict and they were really tasty. Sometimes when you are in a beautiful city you just have to have a little taste of home. My daughter who has been studying in Europe for 5 months suggested to go to a place called The rooster Cafe. This place is located in Florence Italy and has a sister restaurant called The rooster restaurant. The cafe is smaller. The cafes located down and Allie and you simply wait outside the owner will come outside ask you how many people are in your party and we'll see you according to the available tables and the number of people so just because you're first in line doesn't mean you get sat next. It can hold maybe 20 people tops and four people at the bar. It is a breakfast and lunch place and that's exactly what we were there for was breakfast. My daughter ordered a traditional English breakfast which comes with baked bean and corn on the cob. I ordered your traditional eggs bacon and potatoes the bacon is not like American bacon it is truly British bacon it's like a piece of ham that's halfway cooked but it's still delicious don't get me wrong. Of course they make fantastic cappuccino and don't even bother asking for American coffee they'll give it to you but you won't like the look that you get! If you can deal with the weight we did wait about 20 minutes for our table which is no big deal the weather was fine and you could explore which was nice. Lots of students and tourists were in the area but fortunately since this place is out of the way a little more than others it was not bad. The only major gripe was because we sat by the door there was no breezeway and the cold air went right down your back. Otherwise perfect 10 out of 10 will go again read more

We just had the best breakfast here since we arrived in Florence a month ago! It was arguably the best breakfast I have had anywhere! Sure, the Rooster Cafe caters to Americans but it was comforting to have a taste of home. This place is small but very cute. We sat at the bar which were the only seats available. But this worked out well for us because we could chat to the nice guy working the drinks and we could see the cooks in action. My husband and I shared a couple dishes. I ordered the Florentine Benedict (2 poached eggs, english muffin, sautéed spinach, smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce, roasted potatoes) and it was outstanding! The eggs in Italy are different (better) than back home- the yolks are a deeper golden color and "rich" tasting. And the potatoes were very creamy on the inside! So yummy! My husband had the Bella Blueberry Pancakes and they, too, were delicious! Other positives: free WiFi, free water, free bathroom. We will be coming back soon! read more

Walked to the Rooster Cafe from our hotel. They could seat 20 at the tables and six at the counter. We waited 5 mins and then sat at the counter. My wife, who doesn't eat much, got a cup of decaf, hash browns and sausage, while I got a rooster special (smoothie) and the Hash. It all came to $30 euros. Our drinks arrived promptly and breakfast in another 10 mins. The Hash was huge, but very good. It was a pile of eggs, with spinach, bacon and onions smothered in cheese. I couldn't finish it. I had a Florentine Benedict which was excellent. My son had the English breakfast which he said was just ok. The Rooster shake special was excellent and coffee was ok. The waitstaff was bit harried but he was totally fine. It's a cute place. Unless you crave an American type breakfast I'm not sure I'd stand in line again and wait. read more

This was one of the worst breakfast experiences I have had since being in Florence. We waited 45 minutes to be sat for a group of 4 due to the lack of seating they have. Then we waited another 30-45 minutes for someone to take our order and we ended up having to flag someone down and beg to take our order. Our food came out wrong and my family enjoyed their food, but my was terrible. There was one person working and he was very nice. He is not to blame the owners are. Will not be returning. Exactly what these American tourists needed after an early morning train from Rome to Florence. The menu included all the usual American breakfast options and the music that played in the background was all in English. We had been eating lots of European food for awhile, so we just needed a taste of home (both in flavor and environment!). Highly recommend the Rooster Cafe for a few reasons 1) lots of space, but get there early because there will be a wait, 2) fresh squeezed juice, smoothies and specialty coffees, 3) service was on point, friendly and quick to take your order, and lastly the food was very good, I especially loved the yogurt bowl, specifically the granola (I even tried to get the recipe). Is there a way to give no stars? A friend and I stopped at the Rooster for coffee and maybe a small bite to eat. We were immediately seated but then obviously ignored for 15-20 minutes. I would not recommend trying this place but before you make a decision, maybe try reading other reviews as well. The restaurant is extremely disorganized. Our server had basically in charge of half of the restaurant and they had 2-4 people just cleaning tables so I felt bad because she clearly needed help but it was not being provided to her. As a result, I waited at least 15 minutes (I think it was more) just to have someone take my drink/food order. And then we waited over 45 minutes to get our food. I asked her about it and she gave me a really poor response which was frustrating as a paying customer. Sure enough not too long after (less than 2 minutes) our food came out but mine was cold. I'm pretty sure our food had been sitting there and they hadn't brought it out. At that point I was so hungry and over it that I just ate it. The food itself wasn't bad (just heavier on the salty side so beware) but I would definitely not recommend it to anyone. Again I don't think it was our server's fault but the restaurant seems to have really poor, unorganized management and as a result really poor operations. read more

They might have the best food in Florence. But we didn't even make it in the door before we were run off by a very rude employee. There was a couple ahead of us waiting for a table to the left of the door standing on the very narrow sidewalk. We were waiting just to the right of the door in the small area that steps in slightly from the sidewalk because the sidewalk is so narrow. Several large busses came through with absolutely no room to clear and one of them hit the woman's purse with the mirror after violently slamming on the brakes because the driver realized that he wouldn't miss her. Just after this the employee came out and told us we needed to wait behind that couple if we wanted a table. I explained that I was not comfortable putting my kids there to wait because of how narrow the area was and preferred to wait where we were. He said that was not where he wanted us and that we could not stand there. So we left. Walked by a short time later and there were several people standing exactly where we were waiting for a table with zero issue. Unfortunately it only takes one employee with a poor approach to ruin an experience. read more
