A coworker and I drove through Paris, Illinois and searched Yelp for options. We stumbled across…read moreRocky's Italian Bistro and both said we were very pleased with our lunch choice. The ambience is a mixture of a French restaurant meeting an Italian restaurant somehow looking like an American Diner with a menu that had a little of everything. Our server was very attentive even though the restaurant was full and she seemed to be the only server. She was delightful and gave us good recommendations. My coworker ordered a Caprese Panini and a Caesar salad. Obviously this wasn't my recommendation if you've read any of my other reviews! She said it was a great sandwich but wasn't a fan of the homemade chips. I was impressed that she didn't give me the stink eye when I explained my need to photograph her food :) I had the lunch portion of chicken parmesean that was really good. Nice portion of chicken and pasta and a great flavor - I would definitely order it again. Oddly, this came with a side of my choice just like the sandwich menu. I chose a side of fries and they were ok fries. Nothing Earth shattering but not bad. It's a great lunch option at a reasonable price and I'd return if I found myself in the area. Where else can I get a burger, a tenderloin, an order of onion rings and a fettuccine Alfredo all from the same place!?

The caprese didn't had much flavor. It was pretty basic caprese salad. The calamari I thought was also not crunchy enough or super flavorful. For dinner, we my partner had lasagna and I had the crusted chicken skillet. He thought the lasagna was pretty good but not the best he ever had. However, the crusted chicken skillet exceeded all expectations. It was GREAT. Hiighly recommend. The rice is sits on is flavorful and full of good veggies. Then the chicken is thin but juicy and really flavorful as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. With these we got house made chips. They were fine. However, I would get a different side if I went again. They tasted like slightly better potato chips. Service was 10/10. Super quick and attentive. This place has a local vibe. They also had great specials that looked good.

We were taken to a booth and the seats and table were wet from the quick wipe it had just been given. It wasn't just wet, there were also lots of crumbs that had been left behind. As I looked around, I noticed that the floors were littered with trash and food also. Straw wrappers, napkins and bits of food were present under each and every table. I understand that during a busy rush, the staff probably can't take the time to sweep, but even after the rush nobody bothered to address it. There was a gentleman bussing tables who stayed "on patrol", though. He circled the dining room at regular intervals and made sure that dishes were cleared in a timely manner. I see you, sir! We were greeted right away and our drink orders were taken. That young lady was very kind and upbeat, which was quite welcoming. When she returned with our beverages, she offered to take our orders, but we weren't ready. And just like that, she ditched us! J/K, but kind of for real. A different waitress appeared and took over from there. She was efficient and took good care of us, but in a way, she wasn't as warm. She was no-nonsense and straight to the point. Our food was decent. My husband had The Special, which is a basic breakfast plate (eggs, French toast and bacon), I had the turkey club with fries, and my in-laws both had phily steak sandwiches with fries. The food didn't come out super fast, but that gave us time to settle-in and not feel rushed. It was quite nice and a change from what my husband and I are accustomed to where we live. We had a leisurely meal and caught up with old friends who wandered in and out during our meal. That was another clear sign that this place is a local favorite.

Back in May when I went there for a Saturday lunch was seated right away, but took forever to get waited on. Then tonight meet family there from Terre Haute, walked in told a 30 minute wait, now there is 2 booth for 4 open, another corner table just needed cleaned that probably could seat 4 to 6 this is in lower lever. Then in the upper, there is a 2 topper I think, another 4 topper, and 2 6 toppers and another 6 topper came open. But still not seating people, I watch a gentleman that was alone not wait around and couple of 4 groups and couple 2 groups also end up leaving, we finally a group of 4 after waiting more then the 30 minutes. It is like the waitresses can only handle 1 table or group at a time. Sorry I work waitressing in a family own/ran establishment and you better be able to handle several and I many like 5 or 10 tables and large group at the same time. Never been so disappointed. Oh, did I mention we drive a good hour to go here.

The owner has a farm and uses a lot of the produce she grows herself for the freshest ingredients. The variety on the menu is fabulous as well. They always have exceptional daily specials. It's always so hard to decide what to order! The negative is that it is only open for dinners on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. They used to be open more than than as well as for lunch (they had a fantastic lunch menu!) so that's a disappointment. The place is also clean, but I would like to see them replace their tables and chairs. The chairs are old and you sink down so low. The tables don't have a smooth surface and crumb debris gets caught. This is the only authentic, quality Italian place in town so I hope it sticks around for a long time! With her decreasing the hours from what she had before, I worry she'll eventually close. It would be a huge loss to the community if it did.
