I am a traveler and do not live around the area. I happened to be in Danville around lunchtime and was hungry so I figured I would support a local business as opposed to going to some chain off the highway. Backdoor pulled up in a Yelp search. Now, of course a place called Backdoor hopefully will be a hidden gem and not taste like other things that come out of the Backdoor. I ordered a pizza with mushrooms and green olives. Unfortunately, they made a pizza with pepperoni and green olives. Mistakes happen but at least I was starving and looked at the pizza in my car so I caught the mistake and came back in to ask about it. They were apologetic and made me a new pizza but, of course, this added time to my experience. I got my pizza with mushrooms and green olives and it's always disappointing when an establishment uses canned mushrooms. It's really a pet peeve of mine. It's not a huge expense comparatively to get fresh mushrooms and tastes so much better. So it's an expensive pizza ultimately for what you get. I hate to say it but I felt I would have been better suited to just go to a chain pizza restaurant for a cheaper priced pizza that at least would not have used canned mushrooms. Perhaps it's a better experience for meat eaters or for other options there on the menu but, personally as a vegetarian, I was disappointed. read more

In town for a few weeks for work and was driving to a gas station as I passed this establishment. The outside was enough to catch my eye. Went in with some friends and we got the Carnivore and bbq chicken pizza. It was AMAZING! Very tasty pizzas. Good sauce, not overwhelming. If you are looking for a non-generic pizza place, come here. We jumped off the highway and headed to Backdoor pizza because we saw it on the food network map. You enter through the back door. Hence the name. The delivery/take out area is consistently busy and the people working that area are friendly and welcoming. We asked to dine in and were taken down a hallway to a small area of tables. It felt homey and clean. There was also a small room where there were video slots gambling for the 21 and over group. Upon sitting you are given a warm basket of homemade tortilla chips. Fresh crisp and delicious! With it comes a homemade salsa that will warm your insides. Just spicy enough- and so addicting! The soda assortment was impressive, Pepsi Cokes beers etc. sold in cans individually with cups of ice if you like. The pizza was tasty. I liked the sauce (I'm hard to please in the sauce department) and the toppings were generous. Based on previous reviews we also got the Italian beef. So so good!! Tender beef, gooey cheese, soft bread and a big ol peppercini served on the side with a little bag of chips. Gotta say, it's a small town mom and pop shop and it's 100% worth your drive! I would highly recommend this restaurant. This is defiantly a great pick on lunch Friday's at work or any other day we want to order out. For delivery you just have a minimum $25 purchases. The ham and cheese sandwich is wonderful. Italian beef is amazing, chicken salad is delicious. Definitely should try the pizza. read more

Excellent pizza! I was in Danville for work and was craving pizza so I gave this place a try. I ordered a well done, thin crust, pepperoni and green pepper pizza. The crust was cracker thin and crispy just the way I like it. The sauce was good, but there wasn't enough, next time I will order with extra sauce. The staff was super friendly too! We decided to try back door pizza because of prior good ratings on Yelp. We were able to call the business and arrange for pick up and the person working there was kind enough to wait until after closing for us to arrive !! True to their name, there was a sign on the front door to use the back door so we parked and went in the back door. The pizza was still in the oven hot and the breadsticks were good. There were some walnut brownies on the counter and they were offered to us for free so we we took one and enjoyed it on our car ride home. The crust on the large pizza was excellent, it was crispy and was not greasy at all. There was lots of cheese topping on the pepperoni pizza and the flavor was good. There was a little grease on the top of the pizza but everyone felt that was pretty typical for pizza. I did not look into the sitdown area of the restaurant so I can't give any feedback on that. I really like back door pizza. I call em up and order the pizza I want. They tell me when it will be ready. "It's usually 20 minutes". I get there and go in and it's always hot and ready. It's stays hot in the thick box and soon as it hits the table, we dig in. It's good stuff. read more
