Definitely overrated French and local restaurant. The dinning area was packed on a Friday night (as it should), but we could not find the reason for "Le Trianon's" popularity.
The choice of menus and of menu items was limited (not in itself a bad thing). But the individual items were utterly predictable, lacked any spark of originality, and worst of all we're not prepared neither particularly deliciously nor lovingly.
Our party of two ordered the Menu Gourmet, believing that the 8 course meal would allow us to enjoy the full scope of the kitchen's artistry. We were disappointed. The lobster coulis, accompanying the way over-seared coquilles, was too salty but not particularly tasty. The lamb cutlets were too well-done (without having asked us which way we'd like our meat cooked), but not especially well prepared. The Dorade was ok, albeit bland and tasted as if I had cooked it myself (not something I recommend particularly). The two desserts (!) were plentiful, but quantity and variety could not compensate for the lack of tastiness.
Although well recommended by our local friends, we prefer the less-known Phillip Schneider who cooks at "le Tivoli" in Huningue (which is just 5 minutes by car from "le Trianon"). read more
