We two had lunch in the countryside of south Burgundy. This restaurant in a small village exceeded expectations.
SERVICE: 5.0. Both people who arranged our meal were friendly and helpful, even with our lack of French.
AMBIANCE: 5.0. Sitting outside on a sunny September day, with a view across the narrow lane of the village's 11th century church. "Fabulous".
FOOD: 5.0.
- 5.0: Stuffed tomato with anchovies.
- 5.0: Grilled local river fish with mashed potatoes and green/yellow beans. Fish looked and tasted outstanding. Beans retained a nice hint of crispness. Potatoes were amazing: they were mixed with a compote of lemon, olives, and herbs.
WINE: 4.5. We asked for two glasses of the same Chardonnay. The gentleman taking our order insisted we try both of the white wines available by the glass, thus one of each white. Both were very good, and fun to compare.
We finished with espresso. read more
