I am not happy bc the menu is misleading. I have ordered legume from several different restaurants and usually ask if there is meat. I trusted this menu because it has a it's made of eggplants... I end up biting into shredded beef. I also found a large chunk of beef covered by the stewed veggies. I am really mad because I am a vegetarian!!!!!! This really pissed me off! read more

I had both the fried fish and plantains as well as a pork griot. Although presentation was lacking, food had exceptional taste. The fish which was $25 was well seasoned so it made up for the hefty price. The medium pork griot was also fried and seasoned exceptionally. I was hesitant to try the the food here due to the previous reviews but everything was great. The Pikliz was the spiciest I've ever had... but it's winner and must try. read more

Someone surprised me by bringing me lunch from here. I had a HUGE whole snapper with a little red sauce that had onions in it. ( More sauce please! This was yummy, plus some leaked out in the bag) . It came with black rice (I had to research Haitian food to find this out - tasty), fried plantains (green plantains aka tostones -with sauce on the sauce) and this delicious slaw (pikliz) . The meal fed me for lunch and dinner, and also the kids had dinner from this nice sized portion. They are not stingy with the food. It was well seasoned and the pikliz is GREAT. You know it's good when you have to google to find out what something is called and how to make it ! I do not know alot about Haitian food, but I know great food , especially "island food" when I taste it. Check this out ! ps. They surprised me with stewed ox tail on another day, but I don't eat beef / pork. It looked good though. Can't wait for some more fish! read more

I don't understand the excellent reviews. We walked in to a small warm unattractive room with a few tables. No menus. The food was listed on three backlit boards over the counter, one of which had no bulbs in them. The sound was the constant annoying beep of a smoke detector. This wasn't what I'm basing the review upon since I'm from the opinion that a good dive is like gold and you can't eat the wallpaper so put the money into the food. I've been in far worse looking places. I ordered Groit, planning to eat it there but we decided to take it home to avoid the noise of the smoke detector and the blaring TV. The Groit, which is fried pork, was hard as a rock, tasteless, and fatty all at the same time. My girlfriend had fried goat. She asked if it was shredded and told it was. It wasn't. It was chunks of mostly bone with some meat on it. Again hard as a rock and tasteless. In fact I tasted it and I could find no difference in the taste (what minimal taste there was of it) of the pork and the goat. The Plantains were thicks slabs of overcooked cardboard, inedible with little sweetness. My guess it had been sitting around since morning. It came with rice and beans which had to be two pounds worth and totally tasteless. There are no plates here. Everything is served in take out styrofoam containers. After tasting everything and being consistently disappointed with every single thing. It all went into the garbage disposal. Since I only live four miles away I was really looking forward to a good restaurant in my area and the reviews were encouraging, but after a few mouthfuls, all hopes had been dashed. I'm a foodie, who will try anything at least once, and this has to be one of the worst places I've had the displeasure to try. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. If I could give La Petit no stars or negative stars I certainly would. This wasn't just bad...it was BAD!!!!!! I'm a Haitian to the zoe and this is my first time trying this restaurant. I had the griot (fried pork and plantains). Presentation of the food was really well. This is a small and it was more than enough food. The rice was good but the pork was decent. I had a lot of fat on my pork and a couple of hard pieces. The sauce that was on the side was too oily so I couldn't use it. It was an hour before they closed so maybe I got the leftovers. I'll have to try again during the day. Overall, it was a great experience. I would definitely go there again. read more

The worst food in Poinciana. This is basically a take-out restaurant, dark and lifeless decor with 4 tables. Had to take the food "to go" as I was getting a headache from the smoke detector alarm that was chirping loudly and the tv was on too. Plus they had no plates to serve food on for those who want to sit and eat. Admitted I never had Haitian food before. I asked if what I was ordering was "shredded" goat and told "yes." When I got home the goat was not shredded but lots of bones with little meat and mostly fat or burnt goat. The rice and beans was mostly rice. The plantains were stale and hard. Can't believe people gave 5 stars to this place. I will never come back and warn all my friends to avoid this place! read more

I've had Haitian food in Chicago, Atlanta, and Tallahassee. This was by far the best. We got fried turkey and fried goat. It came with salad, plaintain and rice (we got djon djon). The prices are good and the portions are so large that it took me 3 attempts to eat my plate (I had a large). Its a small authentic spot. Nothing fancy but the customers were rolling in non-stop. The customer service was good as well. I will definitely visit again when I'm in Florida. read more
