I normally don't trek out to this area, but every once in a while I do... and when I do, I notice…read moremore and more Haitian restaurants. Having lived in Haiti, I truly enjoy Haitian cuisine and know many of the dishes that this unique Caribbean nation provides. Anything fried is better when Haitians fry it. Case in point: gryot. Gryot is none other than deep fried pork chunks, however, this pork rivals the 11 spice secret recipe of the Colonel. If you know how to make gryot, and you can count, you may go over 11 spices. For this reason, gryot made right is a delicacy. Add to that another spice crazed dish, the simple and humble Haitian rice and beans, called "diri kolle", and you got the proverbial foodie party in your mouth. Blessing D is a very simple operation. I called and ordered in English, not Haitian Creole, from a 4 item menu online, showed up, and paid. I got a tray of food large enough to feed 3 people. It came to about the average $15 for this dish at other restaurants, but the quality was superior. Now, is it the best rice and beans? Almost there. Is it the best gryot? Almost there. Was it good? It clearly exceeded expectations, considering the food is not home made style and not fully gourmet style. It's both, yet you know whoever is in the kitchen likes fancy cooking. And I appreciate that. Finally, I have to mention the "pikliz", which is a brined/pickled cabbage and hot habaneros mix that accompanies this dish. It is fresh and spicy as it should be, and one of the best I've had in a while. If all these 3 key components of a simple dish are above my expectations, this place clearly deserves the 5 stars. Next time: fried fish or "poison frit".

Best Haitian food in Orlando big portions. Worth the drive! Quiet & Sweet sweet lady.read more
