"Half-baked cookies in the oven Half-baked people on the…read morebus" (Jimmy Buffet) Wandering around Shelburne Falls, we decided to stop somewhere for a coffee or a snack. We ended up finding both at Baked. When we walked in, we saw a few big bakery cases filled with pastries, muffins, and all sorts of baked goods. A little further into the space, we saw a reception stand for their full service, sit-down restaurant. We just wanted a beverage and a bakery treat, so that meant we couldn't sit in the restaurant, but luckily, we grabbed the only table in front of the bakery cases. It was quite a chore narrowing down our order from their many drinks and baked goods, but eventually we decided on a Cold Vanilla Blueberry Latte ($6), a Hot Banana Bread Latte ($5), a Macaroon ($3.75), and an Orange Cranberry Scone ($4). The cold latte and scone were mine and I enjoyed both a lot. The latte had great blueberry flavor and the scone was fantastic. We shared the baked treats, and the macaroon was great too, with plenty of chocolate chips, and a freshly made gooey consistency. We both noted how fresh everything was. All in all, their quality, prices and value were excellent. Well done, Baked... we loved our visit.

I've never seen a sandwich or burger not come with fries or any type of side, I opted for the small order of onion rings at 7$ my wife opted for the fries 4$.. burger was 15$ plus the o rings at 7$ and 3$ for a Diet Coke. So 25$ for a burger and drink.. not sure if the sodas were refillable or not but I'm thinking no... there were 4 tables ordering including ours, place was sooo loud you couldn't hear yourself think... very plain and empty, felt like you were in someone's basement, shame as it seems like a nice place... food was very good though except the onion rings, they were heavily breaded with ZERO flavor, not sure if we'd go back as 15$ for a burger sitting on a plate by itself isn't very appealing....

But my bill came to $28 with no tax in a place where you go order, get your silverware, pour your own coffee, bus your table, so not full serve. Not that it's an issue at all, but I wanted to give an accurate description. So why 3 stars? Maybe it's me. Maybe I'm just a crotchety almost old man, but $28 seems to be exorbitant without tip. It feels welcoming, comfortable, and authentic. Service is counter-style, and the staff were super friendly. Coffee is self-serve, deliciously smooth, and refillable if you're drinking in one of their mugs--such a nice touch. They recommended the Pistachio Kind Bun, and we were not disappointed. Buttery, flaky, and croissant-like--definitely a must-try. The Swiss and mushroom omelet was cooked to perfection, and the bacon, eggs, and home fries were all excellent. We especially appreciated that nothing was over-salted--something more places should do (you can always add salt, but not take it out!). The homemade wheat toast, made with King Arthur flour, was hearty and flavorful--some of the best we've had. You can really tell they use locally sourced ingredients, and it makes a difference in every bite. Our only regret? Not grabbing some baked goods to go. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Ashland!
