Pant-Y-Gwydr is an hidden gem in the centre of Swansea. It is a family run restaurant that serves authentic french food. It is one of our favourite place to go for a special occasion due to its high standards both in terms of service and food. We have been here already a few times and always left speechless by the quality of the food and service. Read the full review at https://the-perfect-table.co.uk/2025/03/pant-y-gwydr-swansea/

A treasure of a restaurant just a short walk from the centre of Swansea…read more We have visited the Pant y Gwydr on several occasions now, including in party size groups for a birthday and Christmas meal with each visit making us want to go back for more! The owner and staff are so welcoming and always to hand with top ups of water, bread anything else that is needed both friendly but unobtrusive. The food varies from high end duck, veal, steak to filling peasant french dishes including amazing slow cooked belly of port and a huge cassoulet. Starters include frog legs and snails for the adventurous as well as delicious salads etc, I even tried a snail as you can order one on its own, I was pleasantly surprised by the garlicky potato surrounded snail and have since had a full portion. However room is essential for the desserts, they are amazing, I will post a photo of 'le chocolat', the egg shell contains a chocolate fondant then creme anglais and cream plus a mini delicious chocolate tart, white chocolate mousse and chocolate sorbet. Le vanille is a variation of mini vanilla desserts and so on, have a look at their website for more details. Delicious food and comfortable surroundings with great staff gets my top marks

I have happily overlooked Bully's for years. The name reminds me of someone I shared a flat with…read morewhen I was a student. Daz was a grave digger in his home town of Wolverhampton before he decided to go to college. He was a devout anarchist, (even his bank account was simply in the name of Daz), and he was also mad about the Wolves. Back in the day Bully was their key goal scorer by miles, and has probably been canonised by the Wolverhampton Diocese, or what ever they do to make someone a saint! I will never forget returning home every day to find that the very expensive can of eggshell paint I had bought for painting the bathroom had been put to a more unconventional use. The name Bully had been daubed on every wall of every house up the street! Do you get my apprehension in visiting this particular establishment? And it's a shame, because Bully's is a lovely place! Expensive though! Definitely the kind of place you'd go when you're feeling flush, and there's a special someone to impress! I called in recently during the day, and was lucky enough to witness a wine tasting session (featured in the photos). A lot of work obviously goes into getting these things right... and not only that, you need to be educated in order to do just that. I don't know a great deal about wine, but one of my closest friends is a smellier. She tells me that you train for a couple of years, but that you are constantly learning new stuff, because things change all the time. In a nutshell, Bully's is an up market French restaurant, run by a husband and wife team, Russell and Vicky Bullimore, with a lot of knowledge, flair and fun. I don't agree with some of the options on the menu, foie gras for instance, and would never try the snails, but the food that I have been willing to order has been excellent. They've added some nice little touched to the place that will make you smile, and you can tel that they have really thought about it all. I recommend it for a special occasion where it would be apt to see off a fair amount of cash on a gastronomic delight.

I finished a glass of wine before eventually decided on what I wanted. Really wasn't disappointed with my food, it was very tasty and the combination was perfect. Desert was worth a visit alone. The waiter kept the drinks flowing and it was a really pleasant night. Its not a massive place but doesn't feel squashed. Bit pricey but perfect for special occasions and a nice alternative to Le Gallois.
