I used to like a lot pain quotidien for the freshness and healthy food. However, I had a bad surprise coming back after a while. First of all, I noticed a much shorter menu with remaining options of the most popular dishes, which would not be a problem except that portions have been reduced and prices maintained. It feels unfair to pay the same for smaller portions of the same dishes! The worst is not the price-portion issue, this time when I came there was a little rat wandering close to the terrace area! This was disgusting!!! I cannot say all pain quotidien are like that, but this branch should definitely be avoided!

Later in the evening, there was a heated argument in the kitchen (which is open to the dining area), and it was resolved with a visit from the (presumably drunk) chef. The chef did not leave the dining area until after 9:45 p.m. and bothered several tables. At 10:00 p.m., while we were still eating our main course, the sliding doors were opened and the dining area was filled with cigarette smoke from people smoking outside. Eating dishes that cost around 25 euros in a smoke-filled room is not enjoyable. The chef was also quite physically touchy, which made me very uncomfortable during dinner. When we were having dessert, the next argument broke out between the chef and another man and they got into a physical fight. After this incident, we decided to pay and leave the restaurant. We expressed our dissatisfaction and how unpleasant our experience was, but we were met with indifference and had to pay the full amount of 220 euros. The food was fine, but not amazing, and definitely not worth the money. People, if you're looking for a nice, cozy, and delicious restaurant, DO NOT COME HERE!! We are very disappointed.

We opted to go with the Chef's 'Carte Blanche' menu, a 6 courses set designed by the Chef that is changing daily. We all were blown away by the quality of the ingredients, the presentation of each (small) portion on the plate and, more importantly, the food's taste. You can choose to go select wine-pairing but we ignored that and instead decided to go with our own (more expensive) palates. We started with Poully Fuisse, then a few bottles of Condrieu and then ended with a some Chateau Talbot. In sum, a great place I recommend everyone. Reservations required.

I loved the burger and the accompanying fries, and even the side salad was good. Across our table, we must have gotten every dish on the brunch menu, and everyone was extremely happy with their food. The ingredients tasted very fresh, and the chef made some interesting and unexpected flavor combinations. So why only three stars? This place had the most horrendously rude service I've ever experienced in Brussels, and that's a high bar. We were yelled at collectively as a group, because we ended up having three extra people show up. Organizing big group events is hard enough without a server yelling at you, and they seemed very upset to have the extra business of three people. Several of us were yelled at separately, me for being in the server's way while waiting in line to pay, another for asking the status of the coffee she'd been waiting 20 minutes for, and several others for various things that should not have been issues at all. There were a few cases where the servers mixed up the orders or brought out dishes nobody had ordered, and they got mad at our table for that as well. Despite the inexcusable service, I would still consider going back, either by myself or maybe with one other person, in hopes that we would get better treatment. The food was that good.
