Anasha gave me a fantastic pedicure, which I very badly needed. With no time to do anything but pack and move, my "time for a pedi" went speeding right by. She took care of my callouses, dry skin around my toenails, cut and shaped them (no nicks or cuts), soaked me, oiled me, massaged my feet, wrapped them in hot towels, and put a GORGEOUS color on them. I teased her and said, "if anyone asks me what color this is, I will tell them #853 at Angel Nails"! Under the nail drier, and put my sandals on my feet. I had NEW FEET!! Now, to pay. I wanted to tip her in cash, had no branch of my CA bank in town, and didn't have the "cash app" they use. So, I left my phone with them, went and bought a little something, got cash back, and went back to pay, getting my phone back. Such lovely ladies. My pedicure was $40, and it was not a normal one, taking a lot longer, but she charged me the normal price. I will be regular from now on. So, quiet without a huge, echoey room with lots of chatter. Very relaxing.

The foot bath/massage was relaxing. I might have nicked my thumb while getting into the chair, but they were kind enough to redo it for free! Overall the facilities were clean, the staff was casual and entertaining and overall experience was great! (Even though my nail polish was nonetheless greeted by acetone upon returning home!)

She was concerned that the color I chose was going to be too streaky so she put on three coats. I'm not sure if it's the fact that she put on three coats or the technique in which she did it, but the nail polish was literally peeling off of my nails a few hours later. In fact, eight hours later, the nail polish still wasn't dry and on one of my nails, the polish pushed back from the tip and wrinkled up like a crumpled rug. Nails done on Thursday, by Sunday the polish ship almost completely peeled off all the nails.

I came in asking for a gel manicure, but the technician kept insisting that I get acrylic nails instead. I politely explained that I only wanted gel, and he became visibly upset. He started preparing my natural nails by filing them down, then abruptly stopped, walked away, and left me sitting there with my nails unfinished. No one else at the salon stepped in to help, apologize, or offer to finish the service. I left with damaged, unfinished nails and felt completely disrespected as a customer. I understand that technicians may have recommendations, but customers should never be pressured into a service they don't want. They initially agreed to the service, but once they saw how far along I was, I was told they would not fully treat my calluses because I was pregnant. I explained that I was comfortable with the treatment and had discussed foot care with my doctor, but they continued to insist they would only do a partial treatment. When I questioned why I couldn't make that decision for myself, I was ultimately told it would be best for me to go somewhere else. I completely understand a business having legitimate safety policies, but refusing to provide a service specifically because I am pregnant--without clearly explaining an actual policy or medical reason--was incredibly frustrating and made me feel patronized rather than cared for. This experience raises serious concerns about discrimination based on pregnancy and my protected rights as a pregnant customer. I should not have to argue with a business about whether I am allowed to make an informed decision about a service for my own body. I ultimately left and received the service elsewhere without issue. I sincerely hope management takes this seriously and ensures pregnant customers are not treated this way again.
