Dropped in for a coffee and breakfast pastry. Nice airy space, white industrial feel. Comfortable. Staff were pleasant. I can't resist a Palmier pastry. I have been searching for one as perfect as I had in St. Pierre many many years ago. An elusive memory that's hard to live up to. This Palmier was the closest I've gotten, quite good. read more

This place is a large commercial bakery and café that puts out some pretty good baked goods. I wouldn't say that they rank alongside a genuine European bakery, but they're still quite good. It was good for us that they're located near the hotel where we were staying. We enjoyed ham, egg and cheese croissants, along with an Americano and a danish. Horrible croissants. They are in fact, not croissants. Their "croissants" are more akin to sweet bread dough similar to brioche bread, in the shape of a croissant. Not layered flaky and buttery croissant dough. How on earth does a "French" cafe/bakery fail so spectacularly at making a product known around the world properly, especially with a thriving French culture in the province right next door a short drive away? The worst croissant and chocolatine I have ever tried to eat. The dough was dense and sweet, without any flakiness at all. It was like pound cake, not laminated dough. Also, the cappuccino was a messy pile of fluff on top of a terribly weak brew. I would certainly never come here again. read more

This will transport you straight to Paris!! When you walk in its pastry heaven but also a local bread shop with a sandwich shop!! It's perfect no matter what you want you can get it. I have been here 3 times since being in Canada for a month. The first time I went I had a chocolate croissant and coffee, second time I went I got a Canada cookie and the third time I went I had a cinnamon brioche, butter croissant and a latte.. This is the place to be! The location and the food are impeccable. My favourite is the apricot or raison brioche. Go fast because it usually does run out! They also recently serve affogatos so I have to get my hands on one soon. The atmosphere is light and airy with big windows spanning the walls of the cafe. The staff do not interact with you very much but with a place like this, you don't even notice. read more

If you like a quiet place this is your cafe. We order the lunch special. It came with choosing any sandwich with soup or salad or fries. I got a soup with panini Cajun sandwich. It wasn't all perfect in terms of flavor but decent. The bread was extremely crispy and easily able to bite. This would be a perfect sandwich if your running late for work or wanted a quick bite. I had a delicious Paris - brête (at least that's what I think it's called) However, the Wi-Fi didn't work well and the prices are a bit steep for my liking. Great ambiance with a lot of natural light coming through. If I ever have work to do that doesn't require wireless access I will definitely consider coming back to study and have pastry read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have more reviews already, but I guess the downtown/tourist crowd that makes it so busy on weekdays isn't on Yelp. This is my favorite cafe/bakery in Ottawa because it is BEAUTIFUL and the pastries are on point. It's a great spot for getting work done (they have wifi), for work meetings, or to meet friends for coffee or lunch. There's lots of space, though it does get full around the lunch hour during the work week, and lots of big windows. No other cafe in the area offers a big cheery bright (but not too-much-computer-glare) space like this. Technically though, it is a bakery. They have lots of breads ($5-6) and pastries ($2-5). SO MANY PASTRY OPTIONS including croissants, flans, tarts, cakes, scones. I really like the almond croissant. They also have a hot meal option, but it's like $15 for a main and two sides, so I've never gotten it. Their lattes are fine but the only time I ordered a drip coffee I found it weird and watery. The regular size is pretty large. They serve Happy Goat. One star off for the so-so coffee but I do love this place. Also the service is fast, though a little aggressive in having you order even when you're clearly still browsing. Note, this location is owned separately from the Moulin de Provence in Byward Market. And it's far more pleasant. read more

I wish I could give it a 3.5. First and foremost, the location is really nice both because its central and fun to people watch and because the interior is very pretty. The deserts range from just okay to good, but sometimes the prices just seem a bit too high in relation to their quality. This is made worse by the fact that you can get things of equal or better quality for less elsewhere. The service is alright, some of the baristas being better than others, but I have occasionally felt like I was bothering someone while trying to order. Overall I think it's a good cafe and worth checking out, but probably not worth going to regularly. read more

Great place for a quick tea/ coffee and a bite. Plenty of baked goods to choose from. Minimum on credit card is $10 cad. Plenty of outdoor space to sit and relax. This place gives you a little bit of a European feeling. Servers mostly speak French and perfect broken English like me . Highlight of this place is Obama cookie corner. We had coffee there while waiting for our parliament tour. It was a short walk from the parliament but on a very quiet corner. The coffee, medium roast, turned out to be the best I've had. They also have lots of pastry options and salads, but we didn't try any coz we had breakfast already. Would definitely recommend this cafe. read more

I was going to give 3 stars based on the coffee drinks (only so so, kind of watery), but the pastries were very tasty (cherry strudel and chocolate almond croissant). Server was friendly and they even let my dog wait in the doorway collecting pets. read more
