"See, this called kitchen Ferrari stove, this is particularly good because ..." known as one of the best restaurants in the Netherlands, when Restaurant de Lindenhof chef Martin Martin Kruithof realized that my bf is also a chef, he passionately introduced his kitchen to us. Different from the general Michelin restaurant, after awarded two stars, chef Martin still cooks. They host guests to visit the kitchen from time to time, sit in the kitchen, and welcomes children to the restaurant, and all of these are intended to give guests a "Michelin cuisine, but to your feelings like home" feeling. As soon as we sat down, 7 courses free appetizers were served. Amazing! Seven! Some of them reminded us the day-to-day Dutch food but is just so delicious and well-made in fresh ingredients and skillful details. I love one that looks like Japanese hand roll - the raw fish on top was fresh and the style was so cute. The fried tomato on top of lemon ice cream was a surprise and I loved it! We selected 12 course "Martin's choice" and it came with duck, sweetbread, crab, beef, fish, and many more. The sweetbread tastes like Asian marinated sauces, which we loved it. The crab covered with sauces which was made as shaved iced. The ice which made with sauces melted in my mouth along with the fresh crab. Awesome. Duck liver was also very tasty even I usually don't eat duck liver. The lobster soup was very strong and you felt like eating a real lobster. Only small issue is that we got a small piece of crab shell on our plate. The coffee ice cream tiramisu was great. I personally think the lemon ice cream was too bitter but my bf loved it. We are so lucky and honored to visit Martin's kitchen and amazingly they only have 5 staff. So clean, so many different sauces from various countries, and chef Martin is so passionate and still experimenting new dishes using new ingredients. Of course, services was awesome. I think the executive chef/owner Martin was not working for winning Michelin. However, doing something he loves with passion and do it to the best, then the honor and awards came. I learned an amazing lesson tonight at this Michelin star restaurant.

We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. Our server and their staff were all amazing! Very friendly and welcoming. Yes it is a tourist spot but totally worth it.

We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!

The Pantry - I hadn't had Dutch apple pie since my days waiting tables at Denny's, in the '80s & this was well worth the wait.

Little did I know this was the restaurant where my Opa proposed to her - what a beautiful surprise!!! The location is remote, peaceful and the grounds of the restaurant are beautiful (including a garden where they grow some of their own produce). The service was attentive, friendly and respectful. We went for the largest tasting menu with wine pairings - the pairings were also very well received (my oma mentioning she did not like red wine much, but after her first taste said "this is pretty good I think I could like this"). The food was truly gorgeous, thoughtful and technique driven without being overbearing. The ingredients were fresh and I still recall (a year later) the langoustine, foie and green apple dish that was the stand out of the night -- that's my kind of surf n' turf. It is experiences like this that remind me why the Michelin guide might be so stingy in cities like Chicago - because the food here was truly on a different level and wildly deserving of a star. DELICIOUS!!!!

So they sat us in one of the back rooms. I believe everything was from the Edwardian era. The room we were in had this beautiful fireplace. We were the only two people there. So we had excellent service and they were so sweet. They kept apologizing for the noise from the party. The menu was small but we tried to pick foods we've never tried before. Everything we had was very good. What I thought was cute was that at the end of our meal all the cooks and employees can to the room we were in put some tables together and sat to eat. They were having such a nice time together and it felt like we were having dinner with family. I'm sure they were taking a break before having the big party come in to eat after their drinks.

Mika was a wonderful host and we absolutely loved the mustard soup with eel and homemade fresh bread! The spinach and cheese ravioli was simply a party-in-your-mouth experience! We also ordered the steak and fries, while the steak was good, we absolutely loved the fries! I don't know what that used to make those fries, but it's the best I've ever tasted! My friend and I are were craving a mocha coffee and for some reason, there was none available from the shops we visited. Mike was gracious enough to make us some and it was simply DIVINE! We suggested she add this to her menu, especially since you can smell the rich fresh aroma of cacao that permeates throughout the area. The reason there's a strong chocolate scent, is there is a chocolate plant in the heart of the little village. Initially, we couldn't make out the scent but it only took seconds for our olfactory nerves to identify it, & signal that information to our brain! Outstanding service, food, price, & ambiance!
