I have no idea what the rule is about bringing packaged foods back to the U.S., but I wanted to buy so much stuff I used to keep in my Italian pantry! Next visit to Montreal we plan to stay in the Little Italy area and shop here on day one. Even if we have to eat it all before we leave town. We literally stumbled upon this grocery store. Established in 1954, two brothers introduced Montreal to Italian products. Today their children have taken over and it seems to be a very popular neighborhood market based on the number of customers shopping during our visit. Bakery, deli, meat counter, dairy, produce. All the sections you expect in a traditional grocery store. The breakfast sweets. The Chocolate. Whole rabbit in the meat counter. So much pasta! Oil, balsamic, sauce. I just need to go back. If you cook Italian, you should be shopping here. Actually, if you eat, you should shop here.

Wonderful Italian grocery store about a 10 min walk from Marchè Jean Talon. The variety of brand names of imported Italian tomatoes, pasta and cheeses is staggering. Needless to say Milano's will always be on my list of stops when I'm in Montréal.

The food is so good! :D I had the Gra Borng: fried kabocha squash fritters served with a spicy tamarind sauce. Pad Kaprao (Vegan): stir-fried tofu and Quebec mushrooms with holy basil, served with jasmine rice. The waitress warned me that it was very spicy and asked if I wanted it less spicy. I said yes to that and it was still very spicy for me. Beware of the red chillies! The jasmine rice saved me! :P I would definitely visit again.

Loved our meal at Pichai that I knew I had to try Pumpui during this past GP weekend. Arrived…read moreshortly after 6 and the restaurant was packed. Luckily, a booth opened up within a few minutes for us which helped as we were going to try a bunch of dishes. Pad kaprao pork - simply put, awesome! One of my go to dishes when having Thai food back home or online BKK. Only complaint was that I wish the egg was served sunny side up instead fried to a well done. Pad pak boong pork - another awesome dish! Not sure how you can go wrong with crispy pork belly w/ perfectly sautéed morning glory. We did order this mild and it was still pretty spicy for me. Not sure why the rice served in Montreal is so wet. IIRC, the white rice at Pichai was also pretty wet. Ended up wasting almost the entire plate as it was so mushy. Gaeng massaman gai - the one dish that was just ok in my opinion which is odd since I usually love red curry. Not sure what was lacking but something was a bit off. Since the pad pak boong came with a huge plate of rice, asked the waitress to not bring another serving. Pad thai - pretty tasty and noticed almost all patrons ordering this dish. Wished I could've subbed the shrimp for chicken. Quebec lobster - this was one of the main reasons for dining here as I kept seeing IG posts about this. Sadly, this was a disappointing dish. The lobster really didn't have any meat and thought it was weird they served it with what tasted like salsa verde. Khao neeo mamuang - great way to end the meal. Perfectly cooked glutinous rice w/ an ample amount of coconut milk. Was surprised at how sweet the mango was. Almost as good as Mae Varee in BKK!! Would definitely come back the next time we are in town for the GP!

Added to my Montreal Favorites List…read more I love everything about this shop. You can tell there is so much TLC that goes into each dish. The flavors are really well thought-out and balanced. The price is right too. Super friendly staff, and I love the business model, giving lots of creative freedom to the chef, not being boxed in by the same meals every day. Ordered a bunch of different things and literally 5-stars across the board. I will DEFINITELY be returning here regularly going forward. I hope they stay around for a while... do yourself a favor and go visit this restaurant / grocery / Chinese deli

There are two daily noodle options to choose from (varies between soup / noodles with sauce / warm / cold). The two options vary a lot, but there's always one that's with meat and one that's vegetarian, often with tofu and vegetables. It's often spicy and always has great depth of flavour. The ingredients taste fresh and there seem to be an effort put into choosing local and seasonal products. Watch out to go somewhat close to opening time as they tend to sell out in the early afternoon! There's also a fridge with a few other options you can purchase (ex. fried rice, smashed cucumber, eggplants). The cook and the front of store lady are both very kind and welcoming. This place seems pretty successful already, wish them all the best!

Weather was giving fall glory this weekend in Montreal. I wanted to enjoy it with a burger, a beer,…read moretop notch fries, and a breeze on my skin. Found this place in a Reddit thread and the Yelp pics sold me. Huge beer spot - the dining room had multiple expanses all leading out to an inviting deck and patio area. Outdoors seating can be a miss for me sometimes since restaurants don't always include seating to fit a wide variety of bottoms but Vices et Versa nailed it! There were small wooden chairs and also long bench/pew seating as well as some smaller standalone benches. Perfect. The beer list was excellent - you already know I got the sour and my husband got a framboise. I knorrrr! My tarty fruity sour vibes are finally starting to wear him down muahahahhaha Ahem. Anyway. Food: I got the bacon burger with fries. He got the spicy chicken thigh sandwich with fries. Let's talk about those fries. Crispy outside, pillowy inside. Yeeesssssss. And Montreal serves them as they should be done - WITH MAYO!! The waiter even took one look at the half full mayo cup that came with my burger and said he'd top it off for me. He gets it. He gets me. I know this place must be rocking on a weekend - if so - 100% worth the wait. Fantastic. On street parking is plentiful compared to other parts of the city. But if you have the time, drink up and call an Uber.

Drinks were consistently good and well served. The food menu felt a bit limited, but still enough…read morefor light bites.
