Nice bakery conveniently located in Marché Jean-Talon. It provides good varieties of bread, buns, sandwiches, and salads for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner! Beautiful boxes. It's an enjoyable experience. Recommended!

Lobster sandwich ! I am lucky enough to have end of season lobster sandwich . It mixed with lobster, tomatoes and other fresh ingredients that it does not cover the lobster taste. The salad is good. Lucky enough I went past 1pm and it was less busy. It is clean.

What we had: - butter croissant $2.25 - ham & cheese croissant $8.5 - creme brulee $5.5 - Raspberry, cranberry and pistachio brioche $3.95 Taste: 4/5 It was a good croissant - flaky and buttery. We also had one paired with ham and cheese as a warm and savoury sandwich. Definitely a winter brekky you don't want to miss out on. The brioche was really satisfying too. The creme brûlée tho would probably taste better if the sugar layer was torched on the spot when we ordered. Vibe: 4/5 I loved the Christmas vibe. And I just couldn't take my eyes off the pastry displays once I got inside the bakery. It made me crave everything. Service: 4/5 The staff was friendly and helpful. They patiently helped out with our order even though we were a bit indecisive (it was so hard to pick just a few items out of so many good ones).

This is an absolutely must try if you're in the area (or if you're at the Jean talon market). There may be a long line so be prepared to wait, it is SO worth it. I ordered a bunch of pastries to try, but definitely the strawberry pastry was my favorite because of how fresh it was! Nothing was too sweet and everything had perfect flaky layers. I need to come back to try more savory items, and purchase more breads!

Someone please whisk me away back to Premiere Moisson. I don't know if it's the lack of being able to travel lately, or if I just spend my days day dreaming of places that aren't where I live? I simply feel for this market and specifically this bakery. It reminds me of my first trip to Paris and the beautiful patisseries one pops into while strolling along cobbled streets. Anyways, back to Premiere Moisson. Can I just say yum?! I ordered the tomato bocconcini sandwich, which was beautiful and juicy with eggplant and basil! Also ordered the salmon tartine, and a lemon meringue éclair. The salmon on baguette was simply everything. Everything was light, fresh and divine. I have this noted as one of my favorite stops in Montreal. Can't wait to go back!

We had delicious sandwiches at this bakery. I had the tomato mozzarella sandwich and it was divine. This place is beautiful and they have a great variety of pastries, breads and sandwiches. I highly recommend!!!

The scent of the fresh baked bread and pastries could already be smelled before you opened the door to the warm and inviting shop. The pastries were placed perfectly on white porcelain pedestals and they seemed to beckon: "Eat me, you know you want to." The place in itself had a glow, and if you closed your eyes and inhaled deeply, you could feel yourself basking in it's warmth. This is the moment that you realize that despite all the atrocities that occur in life; this is worth living for. This very moment when you are surrounded by nothing but beautiful, and delicious breads, pastries, and the hum of people also experiencing the same euphoria. Take a moment to let it all soak in before having that first bite, in my case it was just a plain croissant and a creamy, but strong cappuccino. This is something you don't want to eat in a hurry, you want to take your time and savor it as much as possible. Tasting the layers of the pillowy dough that's still warm from the oven, the sweet and saltiness from the butter all melding together to make your taste buds rejoice in glory. Oh my Premiere Moisson! You'd be perfect if your signage weren't strictly only in French and it hadn't taken us 10 minutes to figure out the ordering system! Je t'aime Premiere Moisson!

Bread is like crack and this place is my dealer. Wonderful baked goods, tasty cappuccino, and delish croissants. The breads looked amazing. I wanted to buy a loaf, a bucket of butter, and go to town on it. Located adjacent to the Jean Talon Market it's a nice place to enjoy some pastries in the air conditioning after shopping for fresh fruits and veggies. Pretty easy to order. There are two lines set up One line is to buy pastries. The other to get drinks, salads, sandwiches, and other things on the menu. Moved pretty quickly and counter staff were efficient. We grabbed a few freshly baked croissants with some cappuccino's and took a table to enjoy in scrumptious splendor. Mmmmm.....buttery goodness.

I noticed this bakery since I was at Jean Talon market. The moment I stepped in, I was in pastry heaven! This bakery is huge and they have a wide range of stuff. I picked up some cakes and croissants to go. Everything tasted great and fresh. The prices are reasonable. I love this bakery!

This location is right outside of the Jean Talon Market and very busy. Before we arrived to Montreal, my mission was to visit as many French bakeries as possible. This was the 1st one we visited when we got to Montreal which was a pretty good start to our French bakery mission. There are 2 lines for this particular bakery. One side is to buy pastries and bread and the other line is where you grab a number and order grab and go or prepared items such as sandwiches, pates, salads, or beverages and etc. They had a $2 special for a croissant and coffee as well as $2 for their pain du jour which is a great deal. We ordered: Croissant & coffee deal - croissant was crispy and buttery. Don't know about the quality of the coffee b/c hubby drank this. Ham, cheese & dijon sandwich - we had it pressed which crisp up the bread and melted the cheese nicely. Flavors were balanced and seasoned well. Cornichons - needed a something tangy to eat along w/ our sandwich Duck liver mousse pate - delicious and smooth. I love a creamy pate and this one was seasoned perfectly Baguette - took it togo to eat w/ the pate. It was crispy and good Pain aux raisin - it was okay, I've had better Almond croissant - the edges were crispy and delicious, but the inside of this croissant was a little dense and I didn't enjoy the almond paste which I typically do I visited several other Premiere Moisson bakeries and they didn't seem to have the same quality and options as this location. I would return to this bakery, but only to this location.

    Little gluten free section!

A beautiful building and a beautiful start to a Jean Talon Market visit. I live nearby and am thankful every morning for the smells that waft out of here. They have added a cute blue little gluten free section recently, and also have been spotlighting one-off creations made by their team. You can get in the bread line if you're just grabbing a loaf or croissant or chausson aux pomme or muffin (closes eyes, drools for a sec, resumes...) Or grab a number and go to the other side for sandwiches, prepared meals, and any of the cakes or more glorious pastries. There is a prettyish, sunny, covered terrasse in the back if you're looking for a spot to sit and eat. Hot tip, if you're just grabbing a baguette you might not need to wait in line at all, check the table between the bread counter and the covered terrasse (to your left if you're facing the counters.) There are usually stacks of baguette there which you can grab and just head on over to the cash like a champ.

La Boulangerie Premiere Moisson is always a go-to place for me when I'm in Montréal. The first time I ever visited one was at the Atwater Market (the more touristy farmer's market). Among the slew of foodie souvenirs that I had to tick off, croissants were the request that my mom made. I don't know that BPM has THE best Almond Croissants, but they were pretty tasty! Big bonus points for the generosity of almond filling. This is what a REAL Almond Croissant should be like. Not like some of the Toronto bakeries which just sprinkle on some icing sugar, throw in a few slices of blanched almonds on top and have the audacity to sell it as an Almond Croissant - shameful, just shameful! Other than your typical bread and pastries, they also sell various pâtés, jams, and chocolates. If you are ever pressed for time and need to buy foodie souvenirs, BPM is a one-stop shop. I also purchased a cheddar and onion fougasse, plain croissants and maple-filled croissants. Haven't tried any of these yet, but I can't wait!

If you stop by, you absolutely must have the pain au chocolat. It was amazing, in fact it was one of the best I've had. Really everything we tried was delicious, from the bread to the croissants to the café au lait. The desserts looked amazing and will be on the menu the next time I stop by. It was quite busy but they have a good system and the wait wasn't too bad. You don't want to miss it!

My BF and I were exploring…read moreOld Montreal and needed a lunch spot, so a quick Yelp search helped us find Smoking Meat. We ordered the smoked meat trio and the poutine with smoked meat. The smoked meat trio includes a sandwich, cole slaw, and water. I've never had Canadian smoked meat before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I thought it would be a lot smokier, but I'm glad it wasn't. It reminded me of NYC corned beef sammies. The poutine with the smoked meat was also great. This was definitely enough food for two people, especially since the poutine is so heavy. We actually thought we ordered the smoked meat plate, which includes all of the items from the trio, plus a pickle and more french fries. When we asked them about it, we realized that we probably just ordered the wrong thing. However, they brought us out some extra fries (which we definitely didn't need), but it was really nice of them to do so. It was a nice textural change from the gravy-soaked fries we had been eating. Overall, it was a great meal - but definitely not something that I could eat that often.

The smoked meat was salty, oily and expensive, the poutine wasn't the best either. Such a small portion that was expensive, probably because it was in a tourist area. Don't think I'd eat here again unless I can't get out of the older montreal area because there's other places much less oily and more reasonable.

On the outside, this place might look like a tourist trap, but locals and families coming here…read moresince 1954 will tell you there's a reason it's called the King of Smoked Meat! It's a family-owned institution that serves up warmth, tradition and is famous for pizza, smoked meat, seafood, grilled meats, salads, desserts, cheesecake, and more. Open late when most other places are closed, it's an unpretentious diner where my friends and I were glad to share some laughs, jokes with the waitstaff, and good food. We couldn't decide on what to order, so we defaulted to a poutine and a smoked meat platter with extra coleslaw. It felt like being in one of those late night diners with a large menu with lots of choices. The poutine didn't make the honour roll; it didn't fail, but I'd say it was decent and it passed. The smoked meat coming in as the valedictorian was not surprising since it's the namesake of the place. My friends prefer their smoked meat with a little bit of melt-in-your-mouth fat whereas I prefer it lean. Our waitress was kind enough to put both buttery, fatty and lean pieces on the platter so we were all happy. There was mustard ready to go at our booth table, we were ready to slather it on the rye bread. The smoked meat was warm, tender, tasty and delicious! The coleslaw also was good too with a good amount of sourness and garlic flavour. It's an alternative to Lester's, Snowdon Deli, or Schwartz's. I'd definitely return for the cozy ambiance and smoked meat.

Great smoked meat sandwich!…read more Honestly my first thought was to compare this sandwich to the many pastrami sandwiches I've had in NYC but that would be comparing apples to oranges. Even Schwartz will tell you it's not the same product although it is very similar. Both institutions cure, spice, smoke and steam the meat but that's where the similarities end. Although I don't know for sure, I've heard the cut of meat is different. Katz uses a naval cut, which is noticeably fattier and juicy. Schwartz's smoked meat doesn't lack in fattiness but it's far less fatty and juicy. Another fact on the first bite is -the flavor. Katz's flavor profile on the pastrami is a knockout punch while Schwartz delivers a jab. Schwartz's smoked meat delivers a different flavor profile all together. That's not to say Schwartz isn't great because it's half the price on Katz essentially and you don't have to tip your slicer here. That's not to say Schwartz doesn't bring their own brand of chaos. On my way out the slicer shouted he'd serve no one until the line was straightened out to his liking. LOL. It's all good though, that line was a mess and Sometimes tourists need a stern talking to. I'd get in a straight line for sure for this sandwich! I got my sandwich from the takeout next door versus waiting for table service. The line was 20 deep at 3pm and I just didn't have the patience on a drizzling afternoon. I'd revisit for another one of these smoked meat sandwiches.

Their smoked meat sandwich is next level. And while I only had a few places of comparison in Montreal, it was bar none the best smoked meat in Montreal. I dare say they are the Katz's of Montreal. I gotta say, it was a bit of a trek to get here. My wife dropped me off and drove around while I went to get my order. Let me just say, going at 10pm on a Monday night probably played in my favor. Still being that late on a Monday in March, this place was still busy. I could have gotten a table if I was dining in, but that was not my plan. I ran in to grab some take out, and I have to say, in the time it took me to turn around and pay for my sandwich, my sandwich was all ready to go. The anticipation built as we drove back to hotel with my smoked meat sandwich. When I opened it up, I can't say I was overwhelmed by the size of it, but after that first bite, I was hooked. This was the best bite I had on my whole trip, and I am now cursing myself for only getting one sandwich. We almost went back the next morning, but we had to be on the road, so alas, this one sandwich was all we got. OVERALL - if you don't go, it is truly your loss. I would probably try the poutine with the smoked meats on a return trip, to get the full, Montreal experience. CELEBRITY RATING - Ryan Gosling
