Review of Marriott Hotel: A Cautionary Tale for Asian Tourists
Rating:
As a Titanium Elite member of Marriott, I have had the privilege of staying in numerous Marriott properties across six continents. Regrettably, this hotel stands out as the worst experience I have encountered, and I feel compelled to warn fellow Asian tourists.
Check-In and Room Assignment:
Upon arrival, we were given the lowest quality handicap room despite my titanium elite status. The room had immediate issues, with water pouring from the ceiling. There was no apology or offer of a new room; we were simply told to wait while it was repaired. Given my loyalty and status, an upgrade should have been provided at check-in. The staff claimed no other rooms were available, yet the website showed plenty of vacancies. To add insult to injury, we witnessed another guest, with a lower Marriott status, being upgraded after us.
Discrimination at the Pool:
An incident at the pool highlighted the hotel's discriminatory practices. When my wife requested to purchase a beverage, she was told drinks were not allowed at the pool. However, a white Australian woman was promptly served a drink shortly after. When we pointed this out, the staff begrudgingly allowed us to order a drink, only because they had already served the other guest.
This hotel's blatant discrimination against Asian guests is unacceptable. I strongly advise reconsidering your stay here to avoid having your vacation marred by such prejudice.
Marriott, as a brand, typically stands for quality and respect, but this property falls woefully short of those standards.
This hotel clearly does not wish to have any guests with Asian ethnicity. I strongly discourage you from staying here and having your vacation be ruined by a hotel that does not want you there. read more
