I got the fish weighed during checkout and pointed this out to the cashier, but didn't want to create a scene so let it slide. There were other customers behind me. I paid 25 bucks for less than 2 pounds, not worth it! Make sure that you weigh whatever you buy here, and do not take the words of the seller for granted. Also ensure that the quality of meat is good. I do not recommend this place, period.

Located in the back entrance of a strip mall in Falls Church, Babylon Market is essentially a bodega where you can find halal meat, sweets, prepackaged foods, seasonings as well as artisanry (tapestries & decor). Said, the owner, runs the shop himself and is a really pleasant person. The cashier, maybe he's the owner, was Ethiopian, very friendly. Asked about my race and attempted to impress me with the two Chinese phrases that everyone knew: "Ni Hao Ma?" and "Xie Xie." But it definitely makes you feel like you're stepping into a bit of a war zone. There is an illustrated sign on the front door that says something like, "Do not enter if wearing a mask or hoodie. If you do, you're trespassing." Ok....not a good sign, or a warm welcome. But I try not to pre-judge. So I go inside, and there's a huge bulletproof walled station along the far left where the attendant sits. And then you can do your shopping from the aisles on the far right. They have a little everything: candy, chips, snacks, beverages, and even canned goods! There's also a whole row of non-food items (like household cleaners and things like that, I think, but I didn't go down there and check). I would've bought a few snacks because I was hungry, but I was highly annoyed when the worker (a man who appeared to be Ethiopian or Eritrean or something like that) stepped outside his bulletproof booth, and came down into the store to do something. I was the ONLY person in the store and standing less than 10 feet away from him. He literally looks me dead in my eye and doesn't even smile, say hello, or give me the courtesy of any kind of acknowledgment whatsoever. It was either as if having a customer was an inconvenience to him, or that he didn't want MY business in particular -- I'm not sure which. Whatever it was, I decided then and there that I wasn't going to patronize his establishment. I don't agree with the kind of customer service offered to black and brown people in the "hood."
