I only wish I could also have Raclette but our waiter said it's too much cheese for one night. So I'm coming back tomorrow.

Yelp Review 2026 #151:…read more We took a week break from eating Swiss food so, we started missing it. Restaurant Du Pont is at the end of Bahnhofstrasse. I had a lot of restaurants bookmarked in Zermatt but Du Pont was not bookmarked. We just ate a bunch of things so, after walking the town, we want back to the hotel, made a dinner reservation to this place before taking a much needed nap. You can't make a reservation in person - they will refer you to do it online. The restaurant has Matterhorn in the background. A lot of people would take pictures in front of Du Pont. We got seated on the second floor by the window with a view of town. Our server was nice and quite busy and spoke German, English and Spanish. They have different kinds of fondue. They also have raclette, spaetzle, entrecôte, ribs, minced meat with macaroni and apple sauce m, rosti with ham and cheese, and cheese sandwich. For dessert, they have Apple strudel, Toblerone chocolate mousse, coupe Denmark (aka white lady aka dame Blanche). We got cheese fondue, and chocolate fondue. Fondue Deluxe: Cheese fondue with champagne and black truffles. Their fondue is meant to be shared by 2-3 people. You get bread and potatoes to dip into the melted cheese. It's fantastic. Generous with the black truffles. 4/5 Chocolate Fondue for 2: Served with fresh fruits: strawberry pieces, apple chunks, and banana slices. This was sooo nice. We finished all the chocolate! There was an influencer/ blogger filming herself quite loudly next to us. She was talking and laughing by herself. She got fondue and burnt it because she was busy with her phone - the smell of burnt cheese isn't pleasant.

Yelp Review 2026 #142:…read more This small bakery is next to the hotel I was staying at and I could not be more delighted. They open early (6am-6:30pm). It wasn't crowded when we got there around 9am. They have a few tables inside and benches and a table outside. The shelves for the sweet treats were nearly empty. There are breads and croissants behind the counter. They have coffee, hot chocolate and tea. Nussschnecke: Ground hazelnut cinnamon roll. Sticky, nutty, not overly sweet, and wonderful. Mandeltortli: Walnut tort. It's like a mini pie. The crust nice and super thick. Just enough to handle the walnut filling. Latte Macchiato: Nice frothy foam and strong espresso. They have sugar and sweetener on the counter near the door. It was snowing outside so, a nice pastry and a hot drink while staying inside was the way to go before going to Matterhorn. It must be a Switzerland thing where there's only one person running a whole bakery/ shop.

We ordered cheese and salami subs for 6.50chf (a great price!). There were other options including ham or just cheese. She said she'd have them for us in the morning. When we arrived to pick up she remembered us and offered to toast our subs. The sandwiches were PERFECT for our long train ride to the airport. The location is just past the train stations toward the north in Zermatt. Highly recommend anyone to stop in and grab a sandwich for the road, the hike, lunch or dinner.

Yelp Review 2026 #146:…read more There are videos on social media going around claiming this McDonald's in Zermatt is the most expensive McDonald's in the world. This is actually not true. Prices are the same in Switzerland. Switzerland has the most expensive McDonald's in the world. What's unique about this location is that it blends in with its surroundings instead of being a stand alone building with bright lights. This looks like a Swiss cabin/ chalet. We came here at 1:30pm and you'd think it would be less busy because it's a bit after lunch. But it was still busy. No seats/ tables available on the first floor so, we had to go upstairs which is dark but quiet. At the basement is the bathroom. Of course, I tried menu items we don't have in the US from the sauces to the sandwiches and drinks. I tried the mango passionfruit drink. It was awful. It tasted nothing like mango or passionfruit. I got shrimps which I first had in McDonald's Greece. The food was typical McDonald's - nothing I'd order again. The best part was the building itself.

You order at a machine and they didn't even call a number when the orders were ready, so you just had to watch the counter. The fries were completely cold. The paprika burger was also cold and so disgusting that I didn't eat most of it. I know I don't eat fast food often, but this definitely reminded me of why I don't. The Nutella doughnut was the best part but only gets this to 2 stars. If you're trying to save money in Zermatt by eating a slightly cheaper meal, just go to Coop/Migros.

The arrogant staff person I spoke to pretended to be nice but I saw right through his sarcasm. I chose a WRAPPED sandwich and it was fine. My dining partner had a sausage with fries. I helped him eat the fries and noticed they were double dipped. (Which I like personally but it's frowned upon). Our meal was priced insanely too. .70chf for mayo, 6.80 for Coke Zero. Oh and tap water was 3.50chf. Overall, we should have looked around rather than stopping at the first place off the trail. Skip this one unless you are desperate.

And to top it off, it's steps away from the base of Gifthittli and the ski school. Lastly, it is at the top of the magic carpet at the ski school... The cafeteria has limited outside seating to take the sun rays when possible. Entering the place, the cafeteria line starts to the left while the bar is to the right of the main entrance. A huge selection of German (Wiener Schnitzel and the like) Swiss (Raclette), Italian (pasta dishes) and American-style sandwiches are available. As well, a huge selection of hydrating and health drinks. The bar is pretty much fully stocked. There is ample seating.
