The food is a mixture of classical French cuisine with a modern twist... plus, it was delicious! The ambiance is intimate and cozy, and although there are not a lot menu options, all the options they had were great and already hard enough to pick from. The service was also excellent. Great place for a date/culinary adventure!

The Perfect Pizza Nightcap…read more We wanted a pizza to close out the evening, so we walked right across the street from the burger spot to Bobolivo Pizza... and thank goodness we did. The smell alone sold us fresh dough, bubbling cheese, and real ingredients; we were instantly excited to get it back to our rental. There is something about that crust... thin, light, crispy edges with just the right chew... absolutely delicious! The ingredients tasted fresh and balanced, olive oil was present, no heaviness, just a quality pizza that didn't miss. Sometimes, simple is the flex... and Bobolivo proves that. If you're in Marseille and craving a solid pizza to end your day on a high note... this is the spot.

Also, the restaurant next door also had a patio and had a singer and guitarist out there so we were able to have some entertainment during our meal as well. Service was very friendly but since he didn't speak English and my French is elementary, there was a lot of pointing and repeating things until one of us finally understood the other. He was good about it though and laughed when I told him I don't speak French well in French. Just a heads up, the menu is entirely in French but if, like me, you have at least some grasp on the language and know basic food terms, you can probably figure out at least the main ingredients in each dish. If not, there's always Google translate. We enjoyed a bottle of wine with our meal, and received complimentary olives as a snack before our meal. As for the menu (which I posted a picture of) it's a lot of salads and grilled meats. My husband ordered the duck breast which was served with frites and a salad. The duck was nicely prepared to medium and had a tasty seasoning on it too.The meat was very tender, and the portion was also generous. I ordered the goat cheese salad (salade chevre) which had tomatoes, grilled onions, goat cheese atop small baguettes, fries, and cucumbers. The dressing was a sweet balsamic and was delicious. The salad portion was generous and ingredients were fresh. The location is several blocks back from the Old Port so it's mostly locals I believe that visit here given that we were the only ones speaking English at any of the tables near us. I'd absolutely return here for another meal in the future!

If you are looking to dine outdoors near the Marseille harbor but away from the touristy crowds,…read moreVinonéo is a good option. I had a lovely lunch here on the terrace out front. Even though it was 30°C, the breeze and shade from the tall trees made it a perfect spot to enjoy some French fare and people watching. The fresh Burrata Caprese (with pesto sauce!) and Squash Blossom appetizers were very tasty. Probably the the best versions of each I've ever had. I was so full by the time I finished them that I had a bit of trouble making my way through my Lamb Shank entrée. It was lamb roasted with shallots, root vegetables, and a wine sauce, but the meat was a bit over-cooked, salty, and dry. I probably should have chosen a lighter dish. The wine I had was very good though, and it's a beautiful place to dine outdoors!

I had swordfish carpaccio with wasabi "ice cream" of which I still dream. The wine list while brief, was excellent, and our server directed me to the perfect pairing. The waitress was kind enough to translate each items on the menu & we ordered the fried hummus appetizer, steak, poached egg with spinach, fish, mozzarella asparagus, and the asparagus ravioli. My husband and my mother in law is bit of a bread-snob and raved about how amazing their bread on the table was. They loved it so much they asked the server if they could buy a whole baguette then she let us know the bakery name but it was closed so she brought out a free one for us to take home at the end of our meal! How kind of her! (We of course tipped her for her generosity). Fried hummus: Something totally new for all of us & not one of us disliked it (not even my toddler). Poached egg with spinach: Husband didn't like it so passed it on to me. I thought it was a bit salty but of course my son loved it. He killed all the spinach and basically drank all the pouched egg.. then asked for more! Asparagus ravioli: OH. MY. GOSH. This melts in your mouth. Their sauce is rich but not heavy, there's actual asparagus pieces inside the ravioli and it's heavenly! Asparagus with mozzarella: I'm not a fan of mozzarella but this was totally doable. Their cheese was fresh & the texture was almost like icecream. Melts in your mouth as well. Steak: Being asians, we prefer our meat cooked medium well/well done. 3 of us got the steak & asked for medium well but 2/3 were medium rare & the other medium. It was still edible to us but we wish it was cooked more. Fish: Another yummy dish. Loved the fact that it came with purple rice & the sweet carrot paired well with the fish.

It did not disappoint! We each went with the prix fixe menu. I start with the Soupe Poisson as the entree and the steak with chimmichuri as my main course (not terribly French, I know) . Every bite, down to the three tomatoes on the salad were perfection. My steak was cooked perfectly rare, and the frites were incredibly flavorful. My husband went with the lamb dish, and truly loved every bite as well. Dessert was lovely as well. I went with the mousse mascarpone, and my better half had the tart citron....everything was perfect. Overall, this has been ones of our favorite meals in France!

Very friendly staff, several of which were able to speak english and help translate the menu for us. We started with the Antipasti with Prosciutto, Buffalo Mozzarella, Arugula salad and Bruschetta, which was more than enough for an entree for 2. The proscuitto was delicious and the mozzarella light and creamy. With the complimentary bread, olive oil and balsamic, it was all amazing. For the mains, my wife had the Tuna with smoked mozzarella and eggplant and I chose the stuffed Cannelloni. Both were wonderful - great tasting and generous portions. To end the meal, I had the Tiramisu Speculoos and my wife the Café Gourmand. Both were incredible - the best Tiramisu I've had hands down, and the lemon meringue on the gourmand was a perfect balance of tart and sweet. With a 1/2 litre of rose, the meal came to a reasonable 82 euros. And to top off a wonderful dinner, they brought us complimentary limoncello shots! We're here in Marseille for 3 nights only, but even so we might very well come back to Trattoria Marco again to enjoy a second dinner. Thank you for the amazing meal!

I ordered the linguine and clams dish, which was I did enjoy the flavor of, so that doesn't seem to be the problem. I just felt like the portion size was way to small, and I felt like it was more of a snack. I guess since clams typically don't have as much meat, and there was no other protein in the dish, it was less filling. The taste was good for sure, but it was just standard noodles with some oil and parsley, topped off with lemon. The service was also a bit slow, so overall I just felt like the experience was so so. Could be a good place to just hang out at and snack at but if you are particularly hungry maybe this isn't the best option.
