Bad Choice for Bridal Makeup…read more I had a difficult time working with Cory Bryant from Makeup By Cory for my wedding and engagement photo shoot. Out of all my wedding vendors, Cory was the only one who caused me stress and frustration on my wedding day. My wedding was in May 2013. The problems with Cory are below: 1) Bad attitude 2) Unreliable with schedule 3) Asked for tips repetitively 4) Not good with Asian eye makeup, does better job with Caucasian I did two trials with Cory before the wedding. My biggest makeup concern was "no panda eyes look." I'm Asian, so most heavy eye shadows make me look like I got punched in the eye - two dark puffy circles that make my eyes look smaller, the "panda eyes" look! Not attractive at all! I didn't like the makeup she did on me for the trial - her strokes were rough and not detailed; she drew my eyebrows and eyeliner skewed and asymmetric; one eyelid had heavier eye shadow than the other, and the mascara was clumpy. And, it had the "panda" look! Trying to schedule a 2nd trial with Cory was a nightmare. I drove down to Cory's home studio, but she had "forgotten" my appointment and had another client there. I said it was no big deal and re-scheduled, then she cancelled on me for 3 more times before "squeezing me in" her busy schedule. At times, I was stressed and afraid I wouldn't be able to get another trial before the wedding. Cory explained that she usually does only 1 trial, because the trial cost is discounted, so she was already doing me a favor for agreeing to a 2nd trial. Because it was already too late to find another makeup artist, all I could do was wishful thinking. On the day of the wedding, Cory and her team of 3 assistants showed up 15 minutes late. Immediately, Cory announced that they "had to hurry" because she "had another wedding to rush to after this one." She was clearly stressed and repeated that whenever I or a bridesmaid made a request. I did not feel that my wedding was a priority at all. I requested lighter colors that would make my eyes look brighter and bigger. Cory's immediate reply was "I can't make your eyes look any bigger than they are." She started layering on darker eye shadows that I did not like. Meanwhile, my sister was getting her eye shadows done by an assistant. When my mother pointed out that we would like my eye makeup to look more similar to my sister's, Cory said she was just going to let her assistant do my eyes. I could tell her pride was hurt, and the rest of the appointment felt "adversary." I wish Cory would have listened instead of being in such a big hurry to get to the next wedding.

Everyone loved their makeup and she graciously accommodated all our individual requests, even doing a few trial runs for the bride until it was perfect. I'm very picky with my makeup and getting it done is usually uncomfortable, but not with Cory. She really understood what I wanted and made the experience very easy. I would highly recommend her!

She went above and beyond. I did the trial with the preteens and they went first, but when it was my turn they became antsy. I felt rushed and she also had another appointment after me. After a few days, she touched base to see how the make up wore throughout the day. I asked her for another trial and she happily agreed, this time without the kiddos. We were able to play around a bit more and get the make up part of it right. Then on my wedding day, she came on time, my daughters went first again. My mom was in the room and she's disabled with multiple sclerosis. She fell out of her chair because her walker that has a seat broke on her. Dear Pauline who was miraculously an at-home care provider in her last career, got her up off the ground safely with my groom who was there when it happened. Then she suggested Instacart to get a new chair delivered. (Who would think Instacart could do that??) Because of her, my mom's replacement walker came within the hour and a very big crisis had been adverted. On top of all that, my mom wanted to give her a cash tip, but she wouldn't take it. I know this is beyond the normal work for a hair and make up artist, but it meant so much on a day that was so important. If I could I would give her 10 stars.

We decided to hire Keegan for both her and myself because she is highly recommended. Her prices are much higher than others in the area and she charges a travel fee for a short distance which isn't common (usually only for anything over 30 miles). My sister had a trial and really liked the makeup. On the wedding day I was a little annoyed that Keegan talked about her boyfriend the whole time. She should have let the morning be about my sister and her special day but she ruined that for my sister. I was very unhappy with her telling me I couldn't have certain things done with makeup and she didn't do that great of a job. Being in the wedding industry I have had my my makeup done by professionals many times and never once have I been told I can't have brown eyeliner with false eyelashes. I was also a little disappointed that she made us pay for false lashes during the trial and if my sister didn't keep them would have had to pay for new ones again on the day of. Maybe if her prices weren't already so high that wouldn't be a big deal. I just feel like she nickel's and dime's every little thing. The one and only really good thing is that my sister looked beautiful. Thankfully Keegan did a great job on her makeup. That's what the 3 stars are for, based on everything else I would have given her 1 star.

Would definitely see Colleen for makeup application for any special events I might attend. But she was definitely fun to learn from just for my everyday life.

I did a lot of research online about makeup artists in the bay area and decided that there were a few that sounded like they really knew what they were doing, and so I figured I should give them all a try. I booked trials (on the same day) just to be able to compare and pick the best. My fiancé (now husband) came along with me for my trials. I had some disappointing experiences that day, and then we went to see Myrium. Right off the bat my husband was "hands down you need to have Myrium do your makeup on the day of the wedding" Not only did he love her work (which says a lot) I was completely impressed as well. Do yourself a favor and have a trial done by her if your looking for a makeup artist for your wedding, I promise you will not be disappointed. Her and her team are super friendly and professional as well which is a big plus. She def. knows how to give you that flawless look every bride is looking for on their big day. We had a trial and a styling appointment beforehand, where I described the look I was going for, and she gave many useful tips and suggestions on how we can achieve it. Fast forward to the wedding day- Myrium was very punctual. We had organized for her to bring 2 assistants along to do my family members' hair and makeup, however one of the assistants did not show as her car broke down. Myrium was very apologetic and made sure that she and the other assistant got everybody ready on time. Myrium made me look like a princess on my wedding day, and kept me so calm while she was working on my hair and makeup. I was stunned at the outcome, and everyone could not stop complimenting my subtle yet striking bridal makeup and beautiful updo for the morning ceremony. I had one hour between the wedding ceremony and reception for Myrium to completely change my look- she re-did my hair and makeup quickly and efficiently, and gave me a totally new dazzling look for the evening. I do not have enough good things to say about my experience with her- she is AMAZING. I consider her one of my best wedding vendors. If you are looking for a reliable and professional make up artist who is also great to talk to, I HIGHLY recommend Myrium.

I love how clear, organized, and transparent she is about the booking process. She really nailed that first impression. For the company I was shooting with, the only time slot available was 8am. UGH, so early. Without any complaints or grumbling, Tiffany showed up at my apartment bright and early at 6am. She's so easygoing and accommodating. I felt so relaxed and confident going into the photoshoot, I'd forgotten how empowering it is to be around other women. My last shoot involved dark and gothy makeup, so Tiffany went for a light and pink look, which I absolutely loved! I love how versatile her skillset is, and I'll definitely be hiring her again in the future. From weddings to boudoir shoots, Tiffany seems like she can do it all.
