Actually, there are two lines, one for take away (on the left) and one for sit down. Both lines are just as long, but the take away moves much faster. Fairly organized. For the take away side, an employee takes orders while you wait in line, to expedite the process. (If you are from CA, think of an In and Out burger drive thru business model). Overall the food is good and reasonably priced. And great advertising seeing everyone walk around with your "sandwiches." Ambiance - Crazy busy. Both inside and outside. But plenty of employees (again both inside and outside). Fairly organized considering the volume. Service - Good. Price - Reasonable.10-15 Euros for a pita sandwich. $11.60 to $17.50 US. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1978.

On first pass, there was a line at the take-out window. When I returned to dine in, there was a rather significant line there as well. My party of 2 was apparently the magic number because they had us stand in the front of the line and we were seated inside almost immediately. The food here is served so rapidly that I seriously doubt anyone needs to wait long as there's a constant turning of tables. Schwarma and Fallafel and whatever else we consumed here was so fresh, delicious, and satisfying that I tried coming back here again the night before leaving Paris. Unfortunately for me, they close early on Shabbat, so I had to be satisfied with my single visit. Outstanding experience, delicious food as over 2,000 reviews already attested to.

We tried the rotisserie chicken pita and the ratatouille one. Both were packed full of fresh ingredients. I loved the veggie one. Inside has some tables in back that were good but really this is a quick lunch space and a great one at that. Delish.

That's what drew us to the fresh Israeli fare at this casual cafe. At around 7PM, the place was hopping because there were quite a few people not only dining but also waiting for takeout orders. We planted ourselves at the counter facing the busy prep area where the staff was assembling plates and pitas. We decided to share the 7,50€ Green Beans which looked to be quickly sautéed in lemon, garlic, and olive oil to a fresh, tasty snap (Photo 10). Jamie ordered the 13€ Golden Ratatouille, a healthy melange of eggplant, tomato, zucchini, carrot, and onion mixed in their house tomato sauce with a nice side of hard-boiled egg and tahini (Photo 8). Well, I thought one of us should try their specialty pita sandwiches, so I went with the 13€ Lamb Kebab. It was delicious with big lamb and beef meatballs peeking out of a nice fluffy pita stuffed with red onions and chopped cilantro, mint, and green onions. It was slathered liberally with tahini and their housemade spicy sauce (Photo 9). It was just the Middle Eastern meal we were hankering for. We can have escargots and croissants some other time. I suspect the waitress dropped the knife as she was passing behind my back. She was non-apologetic and extremely aggressive and rude. Arguing that she did not know where the knife was coming from?! This should not have been her first reaction. I have to assume that somehow she lost the knife from a plate. She kept arguing with me when I pointed out that she should have shown some concerns and simply apologize. She initially did not. Eventually she came to her senses and finally somehow gave a fake apology. We left the premises without eating anything. The atmosphere was dark and kind of depressed. The downstairs is two tiny high tops for two and one that might fit three plus a few tables out front. I mention that so when you go, not to expect a sit down experience. The food was nothing that other places don't make, but was so good. I had a simple shawarma wrap and a side of baba ghanoush. Both were excellent. The shwarma was beef and lamb, which I ordered with the Toum and hot sauce, as well as the standard onions, pickled veggies, and tomatoes, and it was small. But every bite was perfect! I don't know why or how, but the little wrap could have been the best thing I ate the entire trip, and believe me when I say that I ate a lot. I have eaten shwarma and/ or kebabs from dozens of places in dozens of cities and I can't say that I have had better. I ate great shwarma at Taza on Queensway and throughout London in the 90s, but bite for bite, this was as good or better. I hope my glowing review doesn't set the bar impossibly high, because it's the simplicity that makes this little sandwich so good. It's also in a fun and vibrant neighborhood near the Pompidou Center, so I would highly recommend this for lunch or even a hearty snack for someone who may be walking all day.

My wife and I took a trip to Barcelona and Paris on a Thanksgiving holiday over eight days and our last night's dinner was at Bagalan. There was truly nothing that could have been improved upon! Our only wish is that this review could post on all review platforms simultaneously:-) The restaurant atmosphere was fantastic and the clientele was obviously full discerning diners with a casual but upscale bent. Dianne was our combination sous chef and server at the bar/counter (this is the way to go)! She was talented, both in her obvious skills as a chef, but also with her attentiveness as a server. She was an excellent multitasker, young, attractive, fun and asked us just enough questions to ascertain exactly what we would enjoy from their diverse and sophisticated Mediterranean menu. She was an impressive representative amongst a group of obviously well-curated staff. The food was fantastic and represented well the ambitious chef de cuisine, whom we also met and found to be quite enthralling. Finally, the sommelier picked the perfect wine pairings to go with the meal. He was a true professional and described in detail the attributes of several options we might enjoy with our meal. We selected a bottle of amazing Burgundy at his prompting once he learned of our order that went ideally with the early courses, followed by a selection of fantastic wines that paired perfectly with our main course! If you find yourself in Paris (district 1), love great food and are open to a well-rounded dining experience, let the team at Bagalan lead you to an evening you'll not soon forget!
