In a good location in the 6th arrondissement near the Vavin Metro (4 minute walk), sharing the sidewalk with a pub, a Japanese restaurant, a Caribbean restaurant, and around the corner from a Starbucks, a boulangerie, patisserie, and steps away from Jardin du Luxemburg, the hotel can't be faulted for location. It's also about a 10 minute walk to Saint-Germain-des-Près district, where the Saint Sulpice church resides. Other Metro stations are also within a 10 minute walk, if Vavin station is not convenient due to construction on some lines. But Paris is extremely walk-able, so this is rarely an issue.
The rooms (mine was a "King Club") are quite small, Parisian-style, but functional. I was travelling solo for work/pleasure, and this size room was just fine for me, but I'd feel quite cramped with another individual in the room.
The bathroom is modern, with a stand-up shower with a glass door, a deep sink, and a regular-sized toilet. The "King" bed, which is actually two twins pushed together, very comfortable. There is also a small desk, a single chair and ottoman (could seat two, at a squeeze), an HD flat screen television, a handful of European language channels (German, French, Portuguese, and even Arabic) and one English channel that seems to come on in the evenings, but who comes to Paris to watch tv? There are also blackout curtains that work great, so you don't have to wake up with the sun!
The Wi-Fi can be slow - about 1.5 Mbps down - but I was able to stream Netflix on my tablet well enough, so it wasn't a problem. I didn't have to use the WiFi for work this time, so I can't say if it's good for that purpose or not.
There's a small fridge in the closet with complimentary water, sodas, and some snacks - which is really a nice touch, a room safe, hairdryer, and some hangers. There's also a thermostat to allow you to control the temperature in the room (heat, no air con), so it's a very self-contained, comfortable place for a few days' stay in Paris.
The reason the hotel only gets 4 stars from me is because the walls are THIN and you can hear other guests' activities/conversations (and housekeeping some mornings). During my 4-night stay, I had the misfortune of one set of guests being really loud for a number of hours in the evening, after which I was moved to a different (higher floor) room, which provided some relief from the noise. My room was street-facing, which I preferred, and though there was a late-night (past 2 am-ish) event going on at the bar near the hotel, I could barely make out the sound of people in the street. I'd recommend ear plugs.
The staff are friendly, helpful (Leah, Mrs. Sané the manager), and English-speaking, and they answered all my questions and concerns with kindness. Housekeeping was also very polite and did a great job with room service.
I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and, aside from the noise factor, I'd definitely consider it one of my best stays in Paris. I'd recommend it. read more
