Very delicious. Despite the menu being concise, I had a hard time choosing since I knew everything would be delicious. We started with a few small plates/starters, including a very delicious celeriac slaw. I had the half chicken and my companion had the gnocchi- both were amazing. I would have tried the desserts but we were too full! My only negative comment is that I would have preferred to have been closer to my dinner date across from me (the table seemed a bit deep) rather than so close to the party at the next table (The deliciousness of the food made up for it though!). They do everything right. Food great; service great. Like it better every visit. The French menu is well executed. I often chose the nightly specials. Add on a bibb salad. A side of mushroom and lardons... The service makes the place. Attentive and skilled, while unobstrusive. All the little things that make a pleasant experience. Heck, even the water is the right temperature (no ice). A hole-in-wall in a busy restaurant row. No reservations. Eat at the bar and enjoy a conversation. read more

Excellent. The tuna nicoise was rich, savory, and tangy, albeit perhaps a bit pricey at $11. French onion soup soothed my soul. We also had a sauteed fish dish which was perfectly executed, and a completely satisfying apple-almond tart. Better value than many similarly priced close restaurants. I'd much prefer Cent-Dix over Agava or those priced slightly below and offering far inferior product. read more

This is definitively the best dining experience Ithaca has to offer. Every menu item is superb and well conceived. Starting with the beginning, they don't accept reservations. This is a little aggravating, especially when one has to wait in the rain due to very limited bar space. The wait is worth it, as the food is great. With the exception of our waitress, the service is also excellent. The maitre d was very organized, polite, and apologetic for the wait. The employees who served our food were very kind. Our waitress was odd bordering on extremely rude. She was very put out that we wanted bottled water (I really dislike the local water) and seemed amazed that we wanted 2 bottles for a larger table. I spotted her rolling her eyes as she was explaining to another server she'd need another bottle. She never asked us if we wanted more bread even though she knew we had been waiting for an hour and she also avoided eye contact between the time she dropped off the bread and the time our food was brought out to us by a well mannered server who asked if we would like some and promptly brought it to us. We tried to get her attention several times, but she was very efficient at ignoring us. We asked to see the dessert menu and when we said we'd like to order, she interrupted me as I was speaking to say "don't you want to let everyone finish their meal before ordering dessert?" Everyone but one person had finished their plate and that person had picked out dessert, we were also going off of the assumption that the dessert doesn't instantaneously apparate and didn't want to hold up the table longer as there were still parties waiting out in the weather, but we are the rude ones? She also then walked away angrily but came back a few minutes later and slid our dessert menus off the table without a word to us as if we had bothered her by not mailing them to her or something. Our table had the steak-frites and the gnocchi, which were both excellent. They give you a generous portion of fries and good portions all around, especially for the price. I had the creme brulee for dessert, which I loved. We also got an almond pie type of dessert, which I didn't try but was well received. I would say it's more of an american/french cuisine, but I really enjoyed it. Overall, everyone we interacted with other than our server was extremely pleasant and prompt. The ambience is really nice, and the food is certainly worth it. If they were to improve, I would suggest offering reservations, restructuring to allow ample waiting room for inclement weather (this is Ithaca), and maybe replacing that one waitress. read more

Kind of higher end type restaurant. Has a focused menu so don't expect a large variety and the prices are slightly high. The food has an interesting take on traditional French dishes and definitely has quality ingredients. Taste doesn't quite hit the level of amazement you may expect at the price point. It's good for Ithaca, it's good for French food, it's great for a date, but it's definitely not the best in the commons. read more

Fantastic. Easily the best food and service in Ithaca. Everyone that works there is very warm and friendly and the food is excellent. Dessert was not special, but their food absolutely is. The dessert next door at Mercado is wonderful, so if you're set on dessert, you can always go over there afterwards. Often, when I really love or hate a business, I consider making a yelp account to rave about them, but this is the one that finally inspired me to do it. Wow! They serve the best onion soup I have had outside of Montreal and Paris. Nice wine list as well, and we also enjoyed the mussels although the soup and a small salad would been enough, the soup was so filling and satisfying. This is a small restaurant that doesn't take reservations and fills up quickly so get there early or late. The only caveat is that it is a little noisy and the tables are close together, but the latter was fine when we ended up having an interesting conversation with a Cornell professor and his wife at the next table. read more

This restaurant is one of the best I have ever been to and that says a lot coming from a new Yorker. The menu is small and focused which means they take a lot of care in there food and you can really see that. The food is exceptional! I had the poulet roti, so good, best mashed potatoes and haricots verts ever. Do not second guess your choice it's well worth every penny! read more

I agree with Dan X.! They really do everything right - delicious food, wide variety of fantastic wines, beers and French liquors and terrific service. I wish we could have tried the nightly special - duck confit - but it had sold out in the first hour, indicative of how good the food is. It's too bad they don't take reservations, but we had fun sitting at the bar before moving to our table. The bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful with beverage selections. I really wanted to like this place. I went back a few times to try different dishes but aside from the bread and butter all foods I tried were overly salty and fatty to the point of unedible. I'm not sure how one can mess up gnocchi, but they manage it here (they come pan-friend and in the process absorb way too much fat). The servers, hosts, and bartenders are very friendly. read more

Surreal and extremely unpleasant experience with very pretentious, unprofessional and incompetent management. We have eaten and Cent Dix on numerous occasions in the past, so knowing that the place does not take reservations, we called to find out a wait time for a party of 6. We were told there is no wait and that they were sure to be able to accommodate. We arrived within 10 minutes of that conversation and sure enough the place was empty. Only 2 tables were occupied and a few people were at the bar. However, for some reason, none of the 4 staff personnel were able to seat us (now, we are not talking about extremely large party, just 6 of us). For some reason they had to go look for an owner who seemed to be MIA at that moment. After about 15 minutes looking at the empty tables and at a wait staff standing idly around and snickering to each other, the owner finally showed us, but instead of an apology or trying to accommodate us, his attitude bordered on insulting. Needless to say we left and had a very pleasant meal at a different restaurant. I would not come back or recommend Cent Dix to anyone. Plenty of other good restaurants on Ithaca Commons, without having to deal with arrogant mediocrity. read more

This place omg. We got the french onion soup which was absolutely made perfectly. it had just the right amount of onions, bread, and cheese and presented in the traditional french crock. We also shared the escargot, goat cheese tart, and steak tartare appetizers. Each one better than the next!! the egg served with the steak tartare was delightful. It really melted in your mouth. I loved the cocktail I had which was champagne and lemon. Simply delicious and light and refreshing. Can't wait to go back here. Great place for a date night. read more

Easily my new favourite restaurant in Ithaca. We had the escargot to begin, and the garlic flavour was impeccable. We then moved onto the oysters, which were easily the best i've ever had. We also had the bouillabaisse for our main course (Saturday plate of the day), and I've never had anything like it. We finished off with a cup of coffee, which I don't know how was also incredibly flavourful. Although the price is a little more than you would normally pay, and the portions are a little smaller, it is easily worth it. I WILL be back to this place. read more

Arrived at 5:30 and just a few diners ahead of us. Signature drinks are yummy, Bread is excellent! I had roasted beets for a starter (which was delicious) and then the gnocci with lardon which was great...different and very light - very good. My daughter got olives and the salmon with faro which she really enjoyed. We were too full for dessert. Our server, Sarah, was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. It was a nice evening so we sat outside on the sidewalk which provided people watching entertainment. The inside is quite lovely too. It is a little pricey but worth the atmosphere and quality of the food and service. We'll be back. read more
