Le Cafe is authentic local food. It was recommended to me by a couple who helped us blow up our flat tire in the neighboring town of St Martinville. Where can I get some great fried fish? I asked. Le Cafe was their answer. So we checked it out for dinner that night, and I wasn't disappointed. I got the 3 piece cat fish plate with onion rings instead of fries. It also comes with coleslaw which was delicious. Everything was cooked just right. The fish was well seasoned, tender, and flaky. Ordering is easy. It was to go, so I just went up to the counter and then came back in about 10 minutes. First of all let me say I really like Breaux Bridge and its nearby food options. This is a gem of a foodie town. I had this place bookmarked for a long time and stopped by for lunch on a return trip from Mississippi. It is a small restaurant that may seat about 25 people inside. I ordered a full size po boy with 1/2 shrimp and the other half with oysters for $8.29 which is a very good price. I decided not to get fries and only a drink. The food came out almost 15 minutes later. I liked my sandwich. The bread was very fresh. The shrimp were good (3) and the oysters were slightly better (3.5) in my opinion. I give an overall score of a 3 because this is a good po boy that I would order again. Here in Breaux Bridge you expect good food and I got it here. Counter service only. Very good fried fish and Poboys Small place and very casual. The food was good. The menu could be a little more descriptive. I ordered an oyster Poboy and Wil got a fish plate that was supposed to be 3 filets but appeared to be more like five. They only have bottled water. They have other drinks, but if you are ordering water, plan on paying for it. The food was excellent and I would have loved to try some other items on the menu but we were just passing through so maybe next time I'll try something else.... but the oyster poboys are so good there! read more

This little Cafe is off the beaten path and well worth the time and money to stop. My husband and I both had a PoBoy; he had shrimp and I had the Turkey. We did not eat breakfast and it was 11:00, so we both chose to have a whole sandwich. ( Half would have been enough.) We also ordered fries, we were smart to share them. The bread for the sandwiches was so tender and fresh, the shrimp on my husbands sandwich was cooked perfectly. The shrimp just burst in your mouth when you bit into them and they had just the perfect seasoning. The amount of fixings on the sandwich was perfect too. I chose the Turkey PoBoy, trying to be a little more healthy but I have to be honest I wish that I had ordered the shrimp. I ate a few of his. I peaked at what others were having and was tempted to ask for a bite. Did I mention that this was a quaint little cafe that had maybe five to eight tables in it. Four star food but two star no mask server equals three stars. I had the Shrimp Po' it and my partner had the catfish po'boy. One small bag of fries to share. It may have been a mistake, but the girl behind the counter was so rude and condescending that I didn't dare ask. So, good food, but her lack of mask and generally unpleasant demeanor sabotaged the experience. This is a great place to get good fried catfish. I would have given them 5 stars but couldn't do it because the fish is just too dang salty. I have eaten there twice in the last 7 days. The first time wasn't too bad, but the second time was terrible because of the salt. It may be connected to a certain cook or a "heavy hand" on some days. Either way, I will have to find a different place to eat fried catfish because I simply can't deal with the high sodium issue. I hope the management sees this and adjust. A bit over seasoned but it's still tasty! For $11.98 I received 2 fillets cut into 4...the cashier said it comes with pasta on Friday's so I'm thinking crawfish pasta or shrimp pasta drowned in a creamy alfredo sauce or something! I got the plate and was like what is this? It was a colorful dry pasta with oil and vinegar...and a plate filled with fries! A waste of money! I have eaten shrimp po-boys all over the south as I am from the south, but LeCafe has shrimp po-boys that exceed any I have ever had before! The shrimp were amazingly tender with perfect light flaky crispy crust. Oysters were cooked to perfection in a corn meal coating. Onion rings were fresh, tender, light and perfect.
