I really enjoyed my meal and the service and the ambiance here.
I got a 3 course lunch with a glass of wine for $27 US. I had a huge Lyonnaise Salad which I really enjoyed and I almost never go for the salad when I go to restaurants. Get the salad for your first course, it is huge, it is tasty and it helps offset the heavy mains and dessert. Check out the picture section for salad pictures, I'm sure someone posted them. The bacon on the salad really sent it over the top and there was a lot of bacon on there.
I had been wanting to try a Quenelle since arriving in Lyon and this was in part what led me to Le Bouche a Oreille. I ordered and was happy with the Quenelle. If you don't know what a Quenelle is, it is a creamed fish and egg type of loaf (for lack of a better word) that is baked. It is light fluffy and delightful and very typical of Lyon cuisine.
For dessert I had what turned out to be a rhubarb tart. I was originally told it was apricot, but that might have been a small mistake b/c of the language barrier. I enjoyed the rhubarb tart and it was a nice end to a substantial meal.
The glass of wine was tiny and I would definitely skip the wine next time.
There was a group of older ladies next to me that whipped out a groupon, so if you are in the area and planning ahead and have at least a group of two a groupon might be able to save you some euro! read more
