The owner of the cheese shop was super enthusiastic about how he had just started the business seven months ago and how he was doing well. His passion for cheese and offering to share a taste of anything we wanted outside of the norm was very cool. If I lived in the area i'd make this shop a regular spot to score my cheese.

We have visited a number of times…read moreand they keep their cheese well, have a great selection, and are possibly the best in the market. I'm partial to Comte, and they have a number of options, depending on your taste and price pain threshhold. For the local favourite St Marcellin, they ask when you'll eat it, and then poke several rounds to find one that will be perfectly ripe when you want it. They also do an excellent truffled Brillat-Savarin. For me, this is a different experience to top cheese shops in Paris. There, if you only speak basic French, you are looked at somewhere between pity and disgust, and get the sense that they are only taking your money because they have to. Here, they were smiling and friendly, helpful about sizes, and proved that you don't need a lot of language skills to buy some amazing cheeses. Highly recommend!

He also paired wines for us and recommended we get a salad. We had the following meats and cheeses: 1. jambon cru lyonnaise 2. chorizo doux 3. Brillat-Savarin (paired with radish) 4. Sechons (paired with dried fruit) 5. Fougerus (paired with marmalade) I enjoyed both meats, but really enjoyed the creamy Fougerus cheese with the marmalade. Apparently this is where locals go to pick up top quality food. We were served by an individual who talked us through the offerings. Afterward we strolled around and you literally could have stayed here and eat all day. Apparently some folks do that. The place is the brainchild of the late Paul Bocuse world renowned chef.
