It was a sweltering hot day, and we found this restaurant with shaded outdoor seating for cold drinks and lunch, it was a Perfect place for people watching. The place was very busy and only had one waiter, who did a decent job, considering how busy they were. My father-in-law, my wife and I ordered the same steak called Viande Polelees and the only thing I can say nice about it is that the plating, although not done well was colorful and that's the end of the positive comments. my wife ordered it well done as she always does my father-in-law ordered it medium and I ordered medium rare. All three steaks came out medium well and they were so tough that it did not matter if you shaved a thin piece off, it was still so hard you could not possibly chew it. Absolutely do not recommend this place unless you're just going to stop for a cold beer. All three of us left our entire steak what a waste!

I wasn't very impressed by my visit to Brasserie Cathedrale. I think this restaurant has a certain…read moredegree of complacency, due to its excellent location and beautiful historic decor. From its appearance, it looks like a wonderful place. I had Boulets Liegeois, which were average-good based on experience, with the fries nothing to shout about. This place is fairly expensive in comparison to other Brasseries in the area. The service wasn't very pleasant, and despite trying my best with my French the waiter was rude and short. I felt forgotten about multiple times during my meal there, and was ready to leave as soon as I had finished.

Arrived 40 minutes before closing and they wouldn't serve us. Wouldn't even come to the front.read more

Should you indulge? There is only one answer: Oui! Everything from bread to dessert was perfect. The fish dishes were true stand-outs, especially the salmon soup. The French fries were superb, light and crisp yet hearty enough to stand up to the divine sauces. The asparagus was of the white variety and delicious. People here know how to enjoy dinner as has been said many times before. My dinner took 2 hours and there were families that were there before I got there and were still there after I left. Mindful eating is the culture here, quality not quantity. Merci, danke schoen and to the lovely waitress who only got a $20 American tip because I had no euros ( it's a long story but you can blame Icelandair) and the credit card bills here don't allow you to add a tip... Thank you for being so nice about it!

AWESOME FOOD!!! We just ate here. I had the lamb chops (4…read morechops) with mixed white and yellow rice and the wife the sea bream with roasted potatoes. You also get a small salad cup with mustard dressing and a roasted pepper and tomato. We had tzatziki as an app - it was a large serving with a few olives and warm bread. Just about 2 minutes away from the Dom, this place is strategically located after a nice day of walking around and discovering Aachen. Their grill master knows what he's doing. My favorite dish is a king prawns dish with rosemary butter and fingerling potatoes, all cooked on the grill. Even their chicken sheesh dish is grilled to perfection with a wonderful balance of flavors, thanks to their traditional grilling methods. Each entrée comes with a tatziki sauce and a red pepper-based sauce. Their dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) are pure perfection, exactly what an authentic dolma should taste like. And their services are top notch, a rarity in most of Europe. Great food in a beautiful picturesque city, what more could you want?

I like sitting in the 1st floor room with the windows, but last time I had dinner on the very top floor dining room and that was also nice. I believe that there is another dining area accessed from a different door with more modern decor and I'll likely eat in that area next time. My only tiny complaint is that the service can sometimes be slow (to very slow) and if you don't have time for a leisurely dinner then you sometimes need to hunt down the server.
