My friend who lives here recommended this spot to see the sky line on the rooftop. NY is known for their rooftop bars. Our original plan was to visit the standard but they apparently closed during COVID. This place makes themselves exclusive and charges cover and is selective on who they let into the place. Only for you to find out that it isn't that packed upstairs. Exclusive for what? To build the line and make yourself looks popping. Nice bartenders and fun music on the dance floor. My first bad experience at a club in my life !!! Went there thinking I was going to an artist party from an invite, and bought an expensive drink to treat myself. Some girl spilled it before I could drink it and I was like ohhh my god my money So I told her she spilled my drink. She looked at me and rolled her eyes. She was one of those super privileged banal kinds of white girls so I don't expect her to "get" what it's like to have your expensive drink spilled. The bartender wasn't very understanding or down to refill my drink even though I had tipped her for the drink and so on, so I went back to the girl that spilled it and told her please can you rebuy my drink. I was trying to reason with her that it's common ethics to rebuy someone's drink. Then she called security and they escorted me out security guard in the elevator made fun of it and told me $22 isn't a lot of money. never had this kind of craziness happen in my life when going out. I don't know if it's nyc these days or this club but this whole experience just really turned me off and I think I'm good on the trust fund kid clubs and manhattan 2025 for a while Anyways long story short- it's pretentious as f and full of lame people that probably don't know the value of working for your own money And the staff were sadly just as disappointing. The bouncer and the staff at the entrance are highly racist. They only allow people of a specific color to go inside. I was waiting for more than 40mins to go inside the club, however my entire group was asked to move outside the line (cause apparently we didn't have an invite). I asked the group behind me if they had one and they said no!! However, they all were asked to go in. Extremely disappointed with the behavior of the staff, really rude, racist and also not at all professional. Better not go there if you are brown :) read more

Le Bain... ohhh Le Bain.. you are the best. Literally, one of my favorite clubs in all of the country. It's swanky, exclusive, hip, and laid back all at the same time. The biggest challenge here is getting in. It seems you've got to look the part and exude a unique combination of confidence and aloofness in order for the door person to let you in. It's a bit trial and error, so if you don't succeed, alter your approach/style and come back another night. In our younger days, my friends and I were turned away here more often than not, however my style was quite juvenile back then as you can imagine. Once inside, take the elevator to the left and have yourself a ball. There's an incredibly awesome little pool on the penthouse floor. On the roof, grab yourself a drink, chat with some interesting strangers, enjoy a crepe, and bask in the view. If you speak any foreign languages, you can definitely practice them here. Le Bain is a favorite amongst travelers visiting the big apple. I've met folks from France, Ireland, Germany.. the list goes on. Enjoy! read more

Went here for pre-dinner drinks with my friends! We made a reservation in advance, and even then, the line can be pretty long depending on when you go. The views and the rooftop are what people are generally going for. Pretty decorations and cute photos are always a plus. We ordered a pitcher along with a side of Shoestring Fries to split. Decent portions. I will say that it can get quite windy, so if you did not bring a jacket, they provide blankets for you! Very funny. Would consider returning again. read more

Le Bain is a fun place to hangout with sweeping views of the East River and New Jersey, it's worth checking out. The drinks are extortionately priced, think like $18~ Vodka Sodas, they are also very weak and not from particularly great quality liquor either. The rooftop has a good amount of seating although the space does fill up, and fast. There is often a super long bathroom line too so be prepared to wait. read more

This is one of the bars that are in a young person's arsenal when it comes to initial New York nightlife. The lines first place can wrap around the block, and usually when is that case probably won't be a good time. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Got a text less than 4 hours before my reservation saying that the kitchen was closed for a private event so food wouldn't be available. I called to ask if the $45 minimum per person was still in place and they said yes and that they could not let me speak to a manager and that I would have to physically show up and speak to a manager about lowering the minimum. When I pointed out that they would lose the business of over 20 people because they didn't want to change the minimum, the person speaking to me ignored everything and said that the minimum would remain in place and changing it would be up to the manager at the time. Something is seriously wrong with this place. If you want to have a good time here, then don't drink the alcohol or get drinks directly from the bar where you can see the bartender make the drinks. The music here is horrible just loud repetitive music no artists or singing just random music. The crowd seems bored and there's no energy. RSVP'd for Nulu movement event on Saturday and was refused entry. The older, more wrinkly managing bouncer (for lack of better description) singled out my group as soon as we walked up holding plastic cups. He told us to throw away which we did. But then took his statement back and did not let us in. We said sorry, sometimes you are new to a city and do not know the liquor laws or sidewalk club etiquette, but once we corrected mistakes it was not enough. There was a line but it faltered after 15 minutes. Crowd seemed aged 30-50 and lots of French speakers. Old men were handing bouncers $20 bills to cut the line. After talking to the managing bouncer and telling him that the only reason we were staying in the Standard hotel was for the event and celebrating a birthday, he continued to refused entry, which is extremely unreasonable, rude, and definitely seemed like a power trip. The other bouncers were nicer about it but following the wrinkly guy's rule. It was very disappointing experience as we tried our hardest to follow rules and spent a lot of money to stay in this specific hotel, but the bouncers just do not care. Trop dommage! I would go somewhere else to avoid angry, stuck up staff who deter you from patronage at a club you otherwise would have really liked and given more of your business to in the future. It's was very young! (For us that is. We're way beyond our twenties, but wanted to celebrate in a place with great music). But they still took great care of us (we did reserve an outdoor table which has a drink minimum). Shana, the hostess got us a great seat (asked us several times if we liked what we selected) and Alana, our waitress was best: super friendly and chatted with us. One star only because a few months ago when I tried to meet up with friends who already have a reservation and a table inside, I told one of the security men that I'm meeting my friend inside under ___my friend's name___. He replied "the lines over there", and pointed to the back of the very long line. He was completely condescending and rude towards me for no reason, I've hardly been ever treated with that level of disrespect in my life. No staff member should speak to a paying customer that way. Luckily, another security guard was very kind and understanding, checked to see if it was alright I meet with my friends waiting inside to skip the long line and he let me in. Very cool, chill spot with a great ambience and beautiful people. So, I came here on a Saturday afternoon randomly. I was on a girls meet up outing and one of the attendees suggested that the fun continue at Le Bain. Getting in was easy peasy and there was no cover charge. We took an elevator up and we were greeted with a beautiful view of the NY skyline and a diverse crowd. The DJ was up and pumping EDM tunes, not my favorite genre but it was cool. There is lots of space to mix, mingle, and dance a little. Seating is slim and typically reserved, so even if you think you have a seat, they may ask you to move for someone who is actually paying for service. The bar was packed however, we got service pretty quick. I had a cucumber cocktail (can't remember the exact name), BUT it was tasty and made to perfection. One of the ladies I was with ordered some french fries which I tried and it was good. The crowd is really a nice vibe. Everyone was just enjoying themselves and making conversation. I loved it. We ended up staying until the sunset and it was really a great and beautiful spot to catch it. Only issue about this place is that it is an open roof top. We got caught in the rain on/off a few times. Luckily I had an umbrella, but anyone else was soaked. Despite the rain, nothing stopped either. Drinks continue to flow and the music was also pumping. Overall, I had a good experience. Its not a place I would have typically come to had someone not suggest it, so I'm really happy about my experience. I would return and I recommend to others. If you love overpaying for feigned exclusivity and zero delivery, this is your place. So, we visited during COVID, so I knew it wouldn't be a party. I wanted drinks with a view. I initially made the reservation for the outdoor area, but the weather was gross off and on that day so they moved us inside (without calling and asking us). When we arrived, there was no one in line, so when we approached, we didn't go behind the velvet rope because there was literally no one else on the street. The door guy banged on the window from inside and told us we HAD to get behind the rope. It was a instantly a little toxic and off-putting. We were then escorted down the hall, up the elevator, and into the bar. We were a party of 2, so we weren't given the option to sit at one of the couches right at the window because they were saving those for larger parties. But here's the thing, it was 4pm on a Friday, and there was literally no one in there (and no one else showed up either - see photo). After all that pomp and circumstance, the drinks come in scratched plastic cups. And I think they were playing the same song the whole time, so... what DJ are people talking about? I understand the desire to keep all of your employees on during COVID, and I even applaud it, but Highline, consider adjusting the experience to fit the moment. Awesome views and good cocktails. That said we were treated horribly. We made a reservation from 7.15-9.15PM with waiters bringing our last cocktails at 8.40PM when I decided to go down to the restroom. To my surprise I was actually denied access to the restroom and told to go back upstairs, get my stuff and get out. Around 8.50 that announcement was echoed on the rooftop where people were drummed into a line to get pushed to the 1 elevator available. I really do understand that with COVID some restaurants have changed their operating hours but first of all it would have been nice to know that we would get pushed out 30 min before the end of our reservation (preferably when ordering the cocktails we eventually had to leave behind), and secondly I really don't understand the point of denying customers access to the restroom before announcing that we are nearing closing time. let me start by saying my one star review is nothing but a reflection of the bouncers behavior. i got to the rope outside the door, tickets ready, holding my purse and a bottle of water i just bought from the train station that was almost half full. the bouncer literally grabbed it out of my hands and took it from me BEFORE I WAS EVEN ON THE PROPERTY I DID NOT EVEN ENTER THROUGH THE ROPE LET ALONE THE DOORS. i said "give that back i will finish it, hey give it back i'll finish it. it's just water let me finish it." POS ignores me as if im not speaking and throws it in the trash and the woman checking tickets said "there's free water up there" that's awesome i didn't ask. i just paid for my bottle of water i would have finished and thrown away before entering. she said "no drinks in the doors." i said "that's crazy because im not even at the doors yet" the only reason i didn't go off in that moment is because i wanted to enjoy my night and ik they would've turned me away if i stood up for myself. anyway that guy is an idiot for throwing away my water because i had a shot of bacardi in my purse and he didn't even check for that. just took my water that i paid for that i was about to drink. like wow did u have no control over ur life growing up so now u feel like u wanna have control over anyone u can like ur on some kind of power trip as a bouncer to a club barely anyone talks about. hope that made him feel good about himself. didn't check my purse for weapons or alcohol (i had pepper spray and like i said a whole shot) he just stole and threw away my hydration that i paid for with my own money. anyway, the bathrooms were nice and so was the smoking area. read more
