Dorval

Practical Neighbourhood Mall. Perfect for Essentials…read more Les Jardins Dorval is an underwhelming shopping mall on the edge of a residential neighbourhood, and does its job in so far as it has a lot of family conveniences and essentials -- a Walmart, SAQ, Pharmaprix, etc. If you're looking to do some recreational (or therapeutic) shopping, though, there's not much to see here. In fact, if you don't live in or frequent the neighbourhood, you'd be hard-pressed to find an excuse to spend your shopping dollars here.

My Grandma is sort of a mall expert. I've been to the Dorval Mall with her a dozen times, and she…read morewent to check it out again this week, so I asked her to report back on how it's doing: "I was so impressed they've redone the floors and it's nice and bright now. Lovely. The floors were as shiny as anything, I felt like I was walking on marble. The stores... nice. I didn't go in all of them, only in a few because I was in a hurry. Don't ask me because I didn't go round the whole place. I've been there before and it was a little depressing but boy it was nice and bright and shiny. i like the jewelry stores.. oh i was in the little luggage shop, I was very impressed with the quality of the luggage and the prices were very good. The one by the post office, their prices were very good. That's not where I bought my luggage though. I bought mine at Walmart. They have a big pharmacy, and the Bay is in there... Overall I'd go back there to shop and I'd spend a lot more time."

Plaza Pointe-Claire - THE MALL WITH IT ALL!

It's a one stop shop. Metro, rbc, saq, pharmacy etc…read more The best part about this little mall is my hairdresser Moving here. It's closer than the original location which is a plus. They have a bar and a few little restos nothing fancy but if you're bored and want something to eat you're in luck. There's a little area to sit in eat not big but either is the mall. The sandwich shop is pretty good from what I remembered. A little revamp for the floors and the place would look brand new.

You know, this strip mall is kind of outdated but it has a bunch of really interesting stores…read more There is Papillon, a large natural foods store (where I recently purchased some agar powder to attempt making the Japanese water drop cake). There is a candy store next to it that sells a bunch of imported British candies and other goodies. There's a Viennese bakery with cakes and breads and imported European candies and a lunch counter that seems to be quite popular (oddly, one of the things it had was Jamaican patties). Wendy's dance shop has all your needs for ballerinas-in-training. Ted's Hobby Shop is a classic for crafty folk. There's also a collector's shop that I used to buy interesting coins from and has Beanie Babies for sale (remember those?). There's a Christian bookstore if you need some Bibles or inspirational goods. There's also a big modern Metro and Uniprix and a bar for the rest of your needs. Just don't expect much from the 'food court' - basically the Viennese bakery and only one other fast food place. Don't discount this mall... you just might find a hidden gem.

I visited Walmart to get some groceries on Saturday January 29, 2022 and here were my observations…read more Nothing much has changed for the most part since my last review (back in 2016) in terms of stock and shelves. One thing I noticed is that they now have free WiFi which is good. Also, at the period that I showed up, vaccination passports were required to enter. I'm not going to get into the politics of it and since this is a government mandate, my review doesn't really take this into consideration (it would be like giving a restaurant which is closed because of government mandate a bad rating). In any event, upon entering the store, there were roughly 2 Walmart employees in the front checking for the vaccination passport of customers. The line up to get into the store wasn't bad and inside, I didn't notice any reduction in customers based on when they didn't have the vaccination passport mandate. They have self checkout and I would say that the majority of customers are "pushed" into the self checkout line. There are 2 manned cash registers at the time that I went but the line up behind this seemed long and people who were waiting in these lines generally had full carts. In terms of grocery prices, Walmart's prices aren't the best except when they have items on special. They also no longer offer price matching. When shopping for groceries at Walmart, I'll generally just buy the things on special. This Walmart doesn't have a McDonald's inside and has a pharmacy.
