I bought a Living Social deal for permanent eyebrows. Calling to schedule this service was problematic because the person who answered the number that was listed on the voucher spoke very little English. I was delighted when I was told I could come in first thing the following day for my service. I arrived at the time scheduled and went to the location on the voucher, which was in Columbia. Turns out the technician that I saw was the same one I spoke to on the phone that did not speak much English. Instead of tattooing my eyebrows she proceeded to wax them. We found another tech who spoke English to sort out the misunderstanding. Turns out the permanent makeup artist works at the location in Ellicott City, not Columbia. They called and were able to get me right in so I left and headed over immediately. I was very happy with the way the problem was solved despite the misunderstanding. The Ellicott City Salon is much nicer! The staff there were all so friendly and I couldn't love my eyebrows more than I do right now! It was painful but the procedure did not take very long. I grabbed a brochure on my way out because I would love to return to this spot 4 future services. Aside from the scheduling snafu this place would be worthy of five stars. read more

This is really a 3.7 rating lol. I came for the Hot Coals pedicure on a Sunday. The venue is a little smaller than I expected and someone was eating their lunch so instead of smelling like a spa filled with lavender it smelled like food. Not the end of the world but definitely did not put me in a zen headspace. I made an appointment for 1pm and got there on time. All the nail techs were busy so I just took my time picking a color. Total wait time was maybe 5 mins. Again, not the end of the world. I was seated and the water jets started to run. I said to my nail tech that the water could be warmer but I'm not sure if she heard me because it stayed the same. Oh well. She gave a great leg and foot massage and the coals were superb. I got a standard paint job. The color was ok but some spots could have been redone. Overall, if you are in the area and want a simple pedi you can come here. There are plenty of other places around. However, the benefit of this salon is that it's open on Sunday and stays open later than most. But really, it's just ok. Service was very nice, though! read more

I think it is an awesome option without the cosmetic pedicure for people who have pain or aching feet like athletes or those who stand for lengthy periods. It is only $30 for 30 minutes including soaking, foot and leg massaging, callus removing, and hot towels. The massage chair is comfortable. The salon is clean and relaxing. I tried this place last minute to fix mismatched gel manicure from another salon. I asked if they could do ombre gel nails, half way expecting them to not be able do it. Lana suggested mood changing (temperature color changing) gel color, similar to what other salon suggested. I wasn't too keen on it since the last mood color changed all at once, without the graduation, ombre effect of fading from one color to another. Lana demonstrated it on her own finger to show how the colors fade. I trusted her and got my gel color that changes from dark purple to light, and then added silver clear sparkled gel on top. The result was good in the salon, but it got better after I left. I could see the tips were dark purple and fading into lighter colors when I got inside my car and at home. When it was chilly outside, my nails were all even dark purple. I love the effect! It's truly mood changing. Plus Lana shaped my nails into a nice oval shape not too pointy. I am a fan! The only slight drawback was that the gel set was $40, which seemed high than other salons that typically charge $35. read more

Great salon!! Friendly staff!! Came here after another nail salon turned my daughter (9) and me away simply b/c we didn't have an appt. Talk about great customer service...sneer!! We arrived around 7:30 pm, but this salon did not turn us away. I was grateful, but hoped I hadn't made a bad decision by staying b/c I didn't want rushed services for the same amount of money. Boy, am I glad we stayed!! Lana worked on my pedi and Kate worked on my daughter's pedi. Not rushed at all...massage and everything. They weren't bothered by the time (closed at 8 pm). They weren't rude or upset that we had come in so late. Just pleasant people making sure we were thoroughly satisfied. Kevin worked on my gel nails and Lana worked on my daughter's nails. I brought in pics on my phone to see if they could replicate designs. No problem! They weren't upset or anything about us wanting different nail designs/color on each individual nail. Nor, about the time it took to create such designs. AA++ Service! Why four stars? Their prices are a bit high for children's services. My daughter is not as careful as I am when it comes to taking care of her designs. Plus, she has way smaller nail beds than an adult. The pricing should be way cheaper for children. The worst manicures!!! I am very disappointed by this place. It seems that they don't care. I asked for a manicure and receive a horrible experience that I would not even consider to be a manicure. The person who did my manicure did not put my hands in hot water to soften the skin, she did a horrible job filling my nails, and at the end there was no massage or hot towel, which are included in the service. Then I was charged $15 for a $14 manicure. I did not argue, I was so shocked. My friend asked for a manicure from a different lady and also received horrible service. Came here for a pedi mani. Pedi and mani was standard which was fine because I didn't pay extra or anything. My biggest concern was that the techs were not friendly, only time they tried talking to me was to ask if I wanted a gel mani instead.. Other then that they talked between themselves but not sure if that was because they thought that I would just talk to my friend the entire time. Kinda cute inside, but that's it. The nail tech "Kevin" started out ok, but then he started to remove my dead skin and didn't put anything on my skin first. I waited...he then grabs Cuticle Remover. Walked in to get a mani/pedi. 3 hours later, my toes had 5 layers of paint on them.... as a lady starts filing my nail with old acrylic on them. Then proceeds to tell me she doesn't know what she's doing and if I want to wait for the one who knows how to do them it'll be 45-50 more minutes. While they all talk about everyone in their language. And also try to over charge for their service, which they can't even provide. 2 other customers walked out angry because the same thing happened to them. I asked for a manager or the owner, they said they're not around and we can leave a note... yea ok. What a waste of time, and what a stressful event, and to think women are supposed to relieve stress and relax and get away for a minute when they get their nails done, not here!! Stopped by this place with a friend for a pedicure last weekend. I've been to this same shop 2/3 years ago and received great service and retuned expecting the same. WARNING: management has now changed. I should have figured by the 20% off all services banner. We both sat in chairs next to each other. I had one guy work on me, while my friend soaked off her gel polish pedicure. After over an hour of waiting while my polish was drying, another woman started working on my friend. Mind you, my friend's poor feet were cold and her massage chair didn't work. The woman was also pushing my friend to get her eye brow waxed. I was shocked she was so pushy, given she couldn't even deliver on the pedicure, the service we came in for?? After being at the salon for over an hour and half, my friend had to her going and skipped on the polish change. When it came time to pay, they tried to charge us for more than what was listed in the pamphlet. The pamphlet listed $28 and with a 20% discount they should come to $22.40. But they were demanding $25. I told them their calculations were wrong, but they kept telling us their pamphlets were outdated. Well why do they have them on display still?? This place is great. The staff are very personable and welcoming. I've been here 4 times before and came in having a really rough day the last time. One of those days when you just really NEED some pampering. I got to the salon 15 minutes before closing and not only did they still give me a pedicure, they stayed open 30 minutes late to do it well and didn't cut corners. I was thoroughly impressed. One of the few places in the area (and I've tried many of them) that truly values customer service. They're also super reasonably priced which helps too. We first came to Angel Nails when my daughter needed a wax. Quyen did a wonderful job. My daughter said that Quyen was so gentle that my daughter did not feel any pain. Quyen even took her time pulling out the short and stubborn hairs. Yesterday, when I called and made appointment for my daughter, Lana even remembered us. Extremely disappointed in the service I received at LD Nails this past week. I came in to get one nail fixed that had chipped the day before. I was told by one of the technicians that there was a 15 minute wait to get it fixed which I didn't have an issue with. 50 minutes later I'm still waiting to have one nail fixed which is something that should take 10-15 minutes max. Only one technician was doing a customers nails, the rest of the technicians were in the spa chairs doing each others pedicures. I finally get helped and the technician doesn't match the coffin shape like the rest of my nails and seemed more interested with her iPad than focusing on good customer service. Something that should of took 10-15 minutes to complete took over an hour and a half. Very unhappy with the finished product and the service I received. I will not be a return customer. read more

The staff is so kind, they pull out their chair for you and take their time on your nails. They put so much time and effort to make my nails look gorgeous! We walked in (without apptmts) about 90 mins before closing on a Sat for two mani/pedi's. Everyone was friendly, helpful and genuinely happy to have us as customers. I went to LD nails for an acrylic. I booked with Nancy. She was ok. She took her time doing my nails but at the end i noticed that my nails were uneven. I went there with a picture of what I wanted and what I got was different. When it came to pay, Nancy said I owed $25.I had a coupon from their website that said 20% off manicure and pedicures. When i went to pay, Nancy asked the other lady how to ring it up. The lady said I could not use the coupon since they did design on one of my fingers and that meant she already gave me discount on my nails. I've gone to this nail salon about 4 times and each time I've been disappointed. The pedicures I've gotten here chip every single time the next day. The gel manicure I got was totoslly sub par, my whole nail wasn't even painted. The one time I got acrylics they turned yellow the next day. And the regular manicure I got just like sloppy. I needed a little bit of TLC - been dealing with the EC flood recovery - and this was just the ticket. Quiet with good background music, professional and kind staff - Lee was my technician. No loud TV shows blaring - just subtitles on a movie, if you wanted to watch. Very, very clean, and pleasant space - this was impressive.
