First of all, I never write reviews. But for Gull I shall. OH MY LORD I am so thankful for this…read moreplace. I came to buy AT boots but sadly they had pretty much sold out of all of their boots. However, with the help of Nathaniel (thanks bud!!), I still managed to find a boot I loved and that worked really well with my bizzaro narrow feet. In addition to buying boots I also brought in a pair of new skis and bindings to get mounted AS WELL as my rock skis for a wax and tuning. And oh my lord they got my old skis looking incredible!!! Even better is they hardly charged me for the repairs and mounting since I bought boots. This was really generous and something I really appreciate, especially since I know REI would've charged me quite a bit if I brought in such banged up skis for a service. Overall, I felt like the sales team were all really passionate about skiing and loved to talk about the sport. There's a laid back and non-pretentious feeling about shopping there even though they had hella variety of gear and brands. They are great representatives of the Missoula ski community and I will definitely come back for all my ski needs. Thank you, Gull - y'all rule and I cannot wait to get in the backcountry with my sweet new Tecnicas.

A friend who lives in Missoula also tells me their prices are good as well. I came in with two pair of skis that needed tuning. I made sure they understood that I needed them back within 36 hours. The delivered as promised. Very friendly and professional shop.

It turns out that their systems allowed me to order something they did not have. Got another polite email back that said "Here is a good alternative .... Sorry for the Hassle... ". No offer or gesture to make the mistake right for the customer in the way of a discount or something. Heading on a killer ski trip to Whistler and needed these awesome skis for the trip. So now I'm renting really expensive crappy skis. Overall experience was terrible, but the emails were very polite. Email Text: ---------------------------- I am sorry to report that we are indeed sold out of the 2.0 JR and were unable to locate a pair for you. I would take a look at the Moment Carson as an alternative. Its a little skinnier, a little shorter, and a little stiffer than the Candide. Its also cheaper. Please let us know if you would like to switch skis or cancel your order. We are truly sorry for the hassles. Thanks and have a nice day. ----------------------------------- Here is my response: --------------------------------- Wow, that's pretty terrible that your systems allow this to happen and then the response of "here is a great alternative" with no effort of making the bad customer experience right. Something like a discount on the suggested alternative would be a good gesture. I'm not necessarily interested in the suggested alternative anyways, but some gesture to make up for systems failures would be nice to see. Just to also note, I had to reach out to even have my order looked into. Travis, this is not targeted at you personally. I know you are doing what your suppose to. So my end result is not getting the skis I paid for, having to pay for crappy rentals for Whistler, and now I have to provide feedback on what a terrible experience Backcountryfreeskier.com is. Just to note, I run retail e-commerce engineering at Expedia so you happen to be getting a customer that has full context of how these systems work and the customer service that should go along with it for mistakes. Travis, thank you for your polite responses. Please share the experience and feedback with you owners and leadership team of what a terrible experience and response this is. If my choice is to cancel or just pick something else, then please cancel my order and send me confirmation of refunds as soon as possible. --------------------------------

Ken (at least that's what I think his name is) was amazing!…read moreApparently, he's been working there for quite some time because my husband remembers going to him a few years ago for ski gear. Ken was able to help me fill my closet with all things ski-related. From a helmet to goggles, and boots to socks, he was such a great resource. More specifically, he was extremely helpful in helping me pick out my ski boots. As many know, it can be really difficult to find boots that are comfortable, fits your budget, and looks great (they have to match the rest of your outfit!). All other employees were also helpful, friendly, and kind. Great store filled with great people!

Then went out of my way a few weeks before Xmas of 2020 to stop in at the Butte store and buy a gun they said that they had in inventory. After a 200+ mile route change to get there before they closed that day I arrived and they didn't have it. Their website still showed they had one in stock. The employee went in the back for 2 minutes and was like no we don't have that. They have some serious problems if they can't keep track of FIREARM sales. So today I got an email from this company I've opted out of emails after that last experience as I don't want to do business with losers who can't keep track of FIREARMS inventory and I go to OPT OUT AGAIN! I see they are listing an address in Logan, UTAH! Then I think what happens when kids inherit a family business they have no clue about running because they are spoiled and soft? They sell the business because they need to maintain their lifestyle and the business isn't very or at all profitalbe. Yup Bob Ward's is now owned by Utah Mormons. https://mtstandard.com/news/local/updated-al-s-sporting-goods-acquires-bob-ward-sons/article_9d0d33b3-24b1-5a97-9b4a-4038b6dc9968.html They basically left the barely competnent management on and now run things out of UTAH. I'll just stick to actual Montana owned businesses, no thanks.
