The major problem being staff, the 5 or so shops I had been to previously had one clerk (one store didn't have one staff member on duty that was allowed to work the gun counter). The problem with only one staff member is that if I wanted to buy a couple boxes of ammo I might have to wait 20 mins to check out, because in this type of retail store you do need lengthy one on one service. PKAT is a well done store, the store is clean, the staff cared, it was organized and they even had a few displays set up for sale item (many gun shops in the area my wife would never go inside, she would be fine in this place. There were 4 members on staff, one person to work each part of the store. Their gunsmith changed out sights on two hand guns while I waited and looked at their racks, bought some ammo, chatted with staff. In 10 mins he was done! This is the ONLY shop in the area I will be going back to, mucho props gents.

I didn't realize there was a store wide sale of 50 percent off and they were going to be flooded with shoppers. But that was ok We stepped to the register area in the ladies section of the store, stopping at the register on the left when facing the check out station - Before I could get beyond we would like to make an exchange the associate we were speaking with turned , called another associate over and with the most sarcastic tone of voice and eye contact said: We have another exchange. I'm confident without a doubt she had a long day but her attitude and tone were completely unnecessary. I've been stopping by The Neuse Sport Shop for many years and have never had a less than positive encounter with any other associate. I completely understand seasonal help is essential during the holiday season but basic courtesy isn't a trate the store should have to teach. Maybe associates should be reminded to treat each guest as they would like to be treated and let their personality shine as bright as the day they were interviewed / hired for the position. As it ended up, after looking around we didn't make the exchange , we'll try the Cape Carteret store . *The associate we encountered had below the shoulder, thicker, dark hair that was parted down the middle. I got there early on a week day & was pleasantly surprised to see a few other folks there. It was just what I was hoping for.Everyone on the range was there for a similar reason & I felt comfortable around them,everyone was friendly & sane! The range master was equally serious,professional & courteous. He ran the range with a keen eye & with authority but gave us all the time & space to get targets set up,equipment organized & be at the ready for range commands.There was ample time with both hot & cold firing times & we all respected eachother & the RM. The range fee was very fair & for a whole day & I got everything I wanted to achieve that day with no rushing or pressure. I'm grateful for the professionals at Flatwoods Outfitters for a really fun day out,doing the things I love doing but rarely have time or a whole lot of $$ to do. Thank you.

Let me tell ya, when you have a very stressful day since 5 AM, without a proper cup of morning joe, it can be quite a stress relief to shoot off a round, or two, or three... of 9mm or .22. Actually, I think I'm one of the few that's allowed in the back shooting range, since I know someone who know someone who runs the place :) Even without the familiarity, the cool and helpful folks here keep this place nice and orderly. If you have a small scale store, that carry dangerous merchandises such as rifles and guns (and pink taser and pink mace) you will definitely have to run a tidy shop. I also give two thumbs up to the knowledge of firearms and ammo. You would never figure by the dingily look from outside. No offense. They also run conceal firearm training course here, with reasonable price, and possible rib lunch on your lucky day! P.S. Sorry, no photos! but trust me, you'll feel all giggly once you step inside, like I did.

I haven't tried their shooting range but I did buy a handgun from here a couple months ago and enjoyed my experience. I even sold a few 1911's here and got what I was asking for them making the process pretty painless and enjoyable. Prices seem to be a little better than most other gun stores around my area so I don't mind the drive. The store is pretty much fully stocked with all kinds of firearms and I have recommended the place to a few of my buddies. The online store is great and easy to navigate but I haven't ordered anything offline yet. Overall I would definitely recommend this gun store to anyone, I look forward to going back whenever I decide what I want to add to my collection.
