I have been to this establishment several times but today's events has led me to write this review: usually most of the employees are welcoming and amicable, and during the pandemic it felt like care was being taken to safeguard both employees and customers. Today I got to the establishment to a red-headed, tattooed and unmasked employee that got annoyed to my question of whether all inside the establishment were supposed to be masked and upon offering service I explicitly replied that wont be helped by an unmasked individual. While i was helped by another masked lady she helped another customer. Careless and disrespectful and hope to never have to deal with the likes of her again. Maybe the owner should make clear to the employees the guidelines and safeguards for all, that coincidently, are posted on their door. read more

Threading is definitely not for everyone, the pain factor is not as bad as everyone thinks it is. In a nut shell, it feels like a quick rubber band snap to the skin, but thats understandable because with threading you are completely removing the hair follicle from the skin. I started going to Layla a year or so ago. The girl who first did my brows was amazing (her name was Roman or something like that). She was the ONLY person I would let do them. Until she had to take some time off for personal issues. I had been growing them out, but they needed a little clean up, so I allowed the female owner (it was a husband/wife or bf/gf team) to do them in Roman's absence and it came out fine. Once they were at my desired thickness (my next visit) I went back to have them shaped. Again Roman was still gone so I let the same lady do them. My eyebrows are a bit tricky because my left brow grows higher and more arched than my right. So, a great shaper knows that in order to even them out one would have to take more hair away from the top of the left brow (to lower it) and more hair away from the bottom of the right brow (to raise it). Well ... my left brow came out beautiful (which is easy to do because it's the better brow) ... but my right brow didn't match in shape (less arched) and height (lower). Don't get me wrong, it was close (like cousins) but not close enough for me. So, I stopped going and grew them back out. A few weeks (about 4-6) ago I went back and I was serviced by Geht (probably spelled that wrong). I told her I was nervous but to just do the best she could to get them as similar as possible. To my surprise, I could feel her taking more hair away from the top of the left brow (to lower it) and more hair away from the bottom of the right brow (to raise it)!!!! Without me even saying it. They looked like sisters (hell, TWINS)!!! It's the best brow job I've every had in my 12 years of shaping! And each time I've gone back she's given me the same results (consistency). Now, NO ONE but Geht touches my brows! I don't know what I'm gonna do when I have a move. read more

The first time I came was fine, but today, the girl who was working on 9/17/14 at 3:30pm put a bald spot in my eyebrows and made my eyebrows wider apart, plus left it unclean with stray hairs. All I asked for was a clean-up. When I questioned her about it, she did not take accountability for it and said it was already there, which was not true. There was a patch of my eyebrow hair on the cotton ball she gave me to wipe my eyebrows. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for years and never had this problem. She did not own up to it, but at least she did not charge me. I walked out right away and held my outburst. My eyebrows will grow again, but I probably will not be going to this Layla shop again. I've been going to Ashley forever, and I absolutely love her. Her spicy personality and all! I have seen about 3 different girls there, and they were all good, but Ashley by far has consistently given me perfect eyebrows. I only see her now. That being said, not all Layla's are the same! I work in Ventura and stopped by the telephone store, figuring if all 3 girls I've seen in Oxnard have been good, then Layla must care about who they hire for threading. Wrong! The girl I saw in Ventura completely hacked my eyebrows. I asked her for a clean up, and she left me with 1990s pencil thin strips on my face. And the trimming she did was choppy and zigzagged. I've been growing them out for about a month and a half now, and Ashley is slowly bringing them back to normal. Be cautious of who you see at these stores. I use to to here to do my eyebrows, but one day I went in 20 minutes before closing and there was only one girl working. She had one customer before me whom she was working on when I got there, but the girl was very rude and seemed to be annoyed or mad when she saw me walk in for a service I was paying for. I work at a food place and yes, it sucks sometimes when it's about to be closing time because we want to go home and relax or go do stuff. I love this location, I've been coming here for months. At first, I was very hesitant about threading... I didn't know if I could trust someone working on my eyebrows. Ashley and Linor are AMAZING. They really make sure they do exactly what you want and really per-fect your eyebrows. They are the only ones I let thread my eyebrows. I made a mistake once by letting a girl named Gabby do my eyebrows. She ruined them! And since she worked with Ashley and Linor (Layla) thought she would do a great job, but boy was I wrong.
