So I used to come here in the past like a few years ago and always have anju help me, but like I said that was many years ago and I absolutely loved her! She was super sweet and always went above and beyond when it came to my services and made me feel comfortable even when some of the process was a tad uncomfortable. I decided to go in tonight because I knew I needed to get my lip and chin done, however it was not the experience I was hoping for. When I came in it was one person working with a customer in the chair and a person ahead of me and I came around 635, a little bit before closing. I figured that should be enough time since in the past it was usually really quick, but that was not the case. The person working finished the person in the chair within 2 minutes of me being there and immediately took the next client and finished maybe within 5-7 minutes. When it was my turn as I was getting up, she asked me to wait one moment and I did, she had to go to the restroom. After she was finished she said she was ready and we began. As she started she made a few comments that made me a slight uncomfortable. She asked if I had done this before and I said many years ago and she said oh okay and have you thought about waxing? That might be easier for you? I was unsure of this comment because I've heard waxing is actually a bit worse and typically not suggested especially for myself because I have sensitive skin. I informed her I did not prefer to wax and if this is too much, I do not have to come back. Shortly after she made another comment "you should come earlier next time" as I said before in the past I've usually had this service completed in about 10 mins or less in the past. These comments made me a bit uncomfortable and made me not want to come back. I understand I came in a little under 30 min before closing, but she definitely could've told me to come back when I first arrived if she didn't have the time and I would've been okay. In addition, after we finished there was still quite a few hairs on my chin, that I could not only feel, but see. I came here for 2.5 years and most of the time they do great but it's gone downhill with the new woman that work there. They are rude, don't smile, lack customer service. The last time I went recently she made my eyebrows uneven and when I said something nicely she completely denied it rudely. I'm talking super uneven. I used to go to Layla in Oxnard, but because of its location and long wait time, I decided to give this location a try....I am soooo glad I did. My brows were done by Jessica (?) she has been threading for 4 years..and I love my brows. They are nice and clean, plus she kept my shape which was really important for me. This location seems much more organized than the one in Oxnard. This location actually has a sign-in log, in which they seem to truly follow. This place also has appointments, which is another reason I will be coming here and NOT Oxnard. They truly hold true to their appointments and respect their time. Note to self: make an appointment with Jessica for next time. Layla's is located in a strip mall, the one that has Ross in it. I ONLY go to Zarna! I have tried other people and none measure up to her. She is quick and efficient. She knows exactly what me and my daughter like. If you're going to go to Layla, stick with Zarna!! So Zarna moved away and I'm soooo sad! She literally was the best. She recommended "Shobha". Reluctantly I made an appt with her. Zarna had it down so I had to explain to Shobha that I don't want none of the top of the brow, only the middle and clean up underneath. I also Told her not to take anything off the ends because I have microblade that I hate and I prefer my hair to cover it. Well what was the first thing she did?! Started taking off the top, I pulled my face away and said please don't do the top, she apologized. Finished the one eye and started with the next, and wtf do you think she did, started doing the top. I pulled away again and said I asked you not to do the top. She apologized and continued with the rest. She handed me the mirror and she took all the ends off!!! And you can totally see where she took a swipe of the top. Pleasantly surprised today! I'm super picky about my eyebrows like turn into fire breathing Godzilla if they don't turn out properly. I normally go to Burbank to get my threading done but, were flying to Sri Lanka early tomorrow morning and didn't have time. My mom told me to come to Layla's since there's a couple of Indian ladies there who know their stuff. I walked in and spoke with Supna. She was extremely understanding and took her time shaping my eyebrows to my satisfaction. She did a pretty good job, probably not as baller as my regular lady BUT still am very happy. It's $35 full face first time and then returning customers get full face for $30... Not bad at all. Really disappointed in the girl who did my eyebrows this last weekend. Every time I have been in I have had a great experience, until now. I walked in and a young blonde girl helped me and honestly made my brows look worse than they already did. She was slow (took 20 minutes all together), had me look at them half way through, and then at the end told me that one arched more than the other. I told her just to clean them up and not reshape, but she barely did anything. After 20 minutes, I finally was over it and just left. If I go back again I'll just wait for one of the original ladies who have worked there for a long time to do them. read more

This place is not good at all. They are excessive on their threading and I've given them a few tries to and used different threaders just to get the same results. I've had them thread hair I didn't ask them to thread. They don't talk to you and ask what it is you want. Today was the last straw. I have microblading on my brows. Eyebrows are everything. It helps clean up & define the look! My sisters introduced me to threading years back when I was in high school. This is how I stopped getting eyebrows waxed because threading lasts longer (2+ weeks recommended trip). From a girl who has sensitive skin, the pain level is moderate. If you're a first timer, be prepared for a possible couple tears. I still tear up now & then, even though I'm used to it by now. My first threading experience wasn't in Ventura County. I've had my fair share of threading experiences & the one place I wouldn't recommend are the ones at the mall. I've come across people who were still learning how to thread there. I go to this location the most because 1) it's local, 2) the staff are friendly, 3) majority of them know what they're doing & take their time, & 4) I found the one person I trust with my eyebrows. JESSICA is my go to girl! Super sweet girl, gets to know her clients a bit, easy to converse with, & specifically asks what you want. If your eyebrows need to be fixed, grow a little more, or if you don't need too much threading on the area, she will tell you! She takes her time, let's you know what she's doing (while your eyes are squinting, closed), & will offer aloe vera & a trim at the end if you'd like. 4 out of 5 stars because this is the closest decent price around the city that I've come across. With Jessica's service, I'd give this place a 5, but I'm only taking a star off because of the price. My very first threading experience was $5 (LBC area) & you don't find that anywhere around here. Layla's is $11 for eyebrows. I've been here too much to know that January's specials are less for the entire month. Do yourself an additional thread on the upper lip & chin & sometimes they have specials for $16, but originally $22+. The service here is fast. I would say their rush hour is random throughout the middle part of the day. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you have a specific person to do your eyebrows, make sure you check-in & write the person's name.
