I went to see Dr Feiwell 8 years ago with pain in my knee. He told me he would give me an injection in the knee and it wouldn't hurt. It hurt like hell. I am very impressed with Dr. Feiwell's thorough examination, expertise, and evaluation process. I had an appointment with Dr. Feiwell due to a fractured humerus and due to the pain I was experiencing in my shoulder and neck after a fall. His staff and team were excellent and took time to get all of the needed information. After filling out the required paperwork, they performed x-rays, an interview, and then an evaluation, which took several hours, but I was told this in advance, so I knew to expect this. After meeting with Dr. Feiwell, I was so relieved and overcome with gratitude because he validated my concerns and ordered an MRI, which other doctors had not done even when I complained of being in pain for many months. The nurse was also wonderful as she followed up with helpful information and made sure to make copies of all of the documents I had. I was surprised to receive a copy of Dr. Feiwell's medical evaluation shortly after my visit. The evaluation was unbelievably thorough, including all of my injuries, treatments thus far, summarizing the interview in great detail, diagnosing my current concerns, and making recommendations for next steps. I'm so thankful to Dr. Feiwell for providing such excellent care and help during this difficult time. I highly recommend Dr. Feiwell to anyone who needs an Orthopedic surgeon. I Found my experience with my total knee replacement surgery to be exceptional with this orthopedic surgeon. From the very beginning I found him to be informative , factual and up front with what to expect with the surgery and results. All my questions were always answered promptly and factually by him or his professional staff. My surgical results I feel were exceptional with proof being in the X-rays of the surgery. Fr. Fiewell and his staff did an excellent job of taking care of me. x-rays and MRIs were reviewed. We discussed all the options. from shots to surgery to holistic, I chose holistic. With physical therapy, pool therapy, and stretching classes I have become pain-free and my muscles and fascia has stretched out a lot more. I love this Doctor as well as his entire staff! They are so caring and professional and best of all, the wait time to see the Doc is short. My husband has a 20-year-old motorcycle injury to his ankle (grade 3 Hawkins fracture) and I was looking for a Doctor that could offer some solution to managing his pain without taking hefty narcotics like all the other doctors wanted to prescribe. Doctor Feiwell not only offered pain relief and other options to my husband, he took the time to listen to all of his questions and concerns and responded with kindness while getting directly to the point. Dr. Feiwell is very good at his job. I came there for evaluations for my back for a car accident I was in. I can see how he can come off as rough around the edges and abrupt, but he's just really straight forward. His staff is actually wonderful, and I had a great experience in his care. I was in a lot of pain, and I always saw a lot of people coming to see him who were also in a lot of pain. I think the misunderstanding comes from him having to explain to people what is wrong with them, when they have a hard time understanding or accepting what he has to tell them. Sometimes I've seen people question his assessments, argue with him, even make up stuff (which happens a lot), and he kind of has a "no nonsense" kind of attitude about it. I don't remember him ever being rough, but I think people need to understand that he has to be rough, because he needs to be able to see what movement you're capable of, and to also know how much pain you're actually in. Sometimes, your body won't take to certain procedures, but that's not his fault. Most back pain management procedures, including steroid shots, don't have a 100% guarantee and it's almost impossible to know how you're body is going to react to treatment unless you have a known allergy or failing history with the treatment. He gave very accurate evaluations, and gives very helpful recommendations on how to fix my pain issues. Also, if you take the time to talk with him instead of at him, he's actually a really interesting and nice person to talk to. I would go back to Dr. Feiwell again for further evaluation when I need it, if my insurance covers it. read more

If I could give him zero stars I would! My mom was having horrible knee pain and Feiwell decided to do some type of knee surgery. He was completely rude to me and my mom when we tried to ask him any type of question about the procedure. My dad went to one preop with her and the next time my dad could not go Feiwell asked my mom "Oh, where is your keeper?"... so RUDE and just the worst bedside manner. Anyway, her knee pain has continued until now a whole year after the knee surgery Feiwell did so my mom finally went to someone else for a second opinion only to be told that Feiwell should not have even bothered with the arthroscopy and did not prescribe her appropriate medication. I would not recommend anyone see him for any type of knee issues. Very disappointed. read more

Very cold front office, which I could deal with but the doctor is haughty, rough in his examination! Rough is putting it mildly! He did not even warn me how roughly he would be examining me. Most doctors will say, this is a little rough but I will be as careful as possible. Not him! He also would not give me any information regarding my condition. Strongly, Very strongly suggest you find a doctor who cares about his patients. This doctor clearly does not!!! Scary to think what he would do to you when you are under anesthesia! Other reviews here also say he has NO BEDSIDE MANNER! When you are ill and in pain you want someone who cares and is gentle. The other review even mentioned the coldness of his staff. Usually the front office staff's personalities are an indication of what the doctor is like. I also came to my appointment on time and waited over 3 hours to see the doctor. He spent maybe 10 minutes with me and I am being generous. As he left the exam room I asked him if he had anything to tell me and his answer was, "NO". NO? Nothing...I was then just sent on my way. This is not a good office or M.D. I would not have given him 1 star, but there was no option for -0- I am sorry to have to say this, but I want to save others from the experience I had. I had a bad accident in 2017 and broke my ankle in three places, I had emergency surgery at Los Alamitos Hospital. 2 years later I was having problems with pain. I was unhappy with the dr. who was on call at the hospital when I had my accident and repaired my ankle so I did not seek him out when I had problems, I saw Dr. Feiwell he told me I had arthritis and I would need to have an arthroscopic procedure, he answered all my questions and I had a lot! I had temporary relief as he told me I would have and he also explained to me I would probably need to have an ankle fusion, I was hoping to avoid that possibility but because I was very active it was inevitable. May of this year Dr. Feiwell fused my ankle, before surgery he told me he was going to try to do the procedure minimally invasive but that he might have to make the incision larger once he was in there . When I came out of anesthesia he explained to me that he was able to fuse the bones together without making large incision s. I am so happy I didn't have a longer recovery. I am very pleased with the outcome! He is a fantastic doctor and his office staff are wonderful and super helpful!! read more

This is one of the worst medical experiences i have ever had. First I arrive and have to check in with his staff, who tell me I only have two people ahead of me. Somehow even though I had an appointment, it took him 3 hours to get to me. I am not exaggerating at all. I even asked after an hour and a half if I could come back at a more convenient time and they told me no, he will be with me shortly. Then, after my 3 hour long wait i get put into a room, where I wait another 45 minutes before the nurse comes in to tell me he wil be in shortly. Then in about 15 minutes I finally see Dr. Feiwell. I explain my medical situation and he states there is nothing that can be done for my pain and my nerves may or may not fix themselves. He then leaves the room for an unknown reason and I wait another 30 minutes for him to come back and tell me or give me something that may help. No such luck, I opened the door to the room and ask the nurse if hes coming back or if i need another appointment and she disappears for about 30 minutes and comes back to tell me that "you are done". So in short your experience may be different, but, I can think of many other ways I would like to spend 5 hours of my life and gas money driving to that sorry excuse of a medical office. read more

My husband has been a patient since 2005 for multiple issues and surgeries. The office staff has always been friendly and welcoming. The wait time has been minimal and never excessive. The x-ray services on site and the stock of braces/supports has made the visits extremely convenient and less of a hassle than other doctors he sees. His knowledge and expertise has allowed my husband to continue his life style post total knee replacement in 2007. Dr. Feiwell's personality is playful yet professional. He communicates the diagnosis and optional treatments fully and has always been open to questions. He also has been very patient and light hearted about my husband's fear of needles. Really bad service at the desk,once you get to the desk not even a good morning ,we sign the desk sheet even tho no one told us to or suggest it,the frint ladys are alwas looking somewhere else ,50m pass by and nothing we just see people passing around us to see the doctor .... even people that came after us ,but when we where about to hit the 40m wait and ask the front desk lady latino on the heavy side (she says she doesn't speaks spanish) and don't dare to speak to her or you'll get a bad answer(the one lady wearing black nuse uniform super nice ) why did she pass someone that just got there after we where waiting for almost 40m thennnnn .,finaly we got to got inside (not mentioning tha - I want to punch your face attitude and look in her face)gave us,inside everything fine but why is it that always ,always the people in the front desk is the one giving tha worst attitude?! Went to this guy twice. All I wanted was PT. He pressured me to get a steroid shot. He said the shot would fix it. The shot was very painful and made my condition worse. 2nd visit: He got mad when I told him the shot made it worse and then bent my legs in a very painful way. I started crying and he yelled at me that I had bad bones. WTH did that mean? I was in pain for 2 weeks because the way he bent my legs. You couldn't pay me to go see this disgusting creep. Needing surgery for a broken foot is already an extremely crappy situation, so it was really nice to have someone as skilled as Dr. Feiwell. I was lucky enough to just end up here because another surgeon couldn't really determine what I needed to have done, and then was "going out of town" and just forgot to tell his patients and referred me over here(Super lame on their part but anyways). Thanks to Dr. Feiwell I will have ZERO mobility loss in all of my toes and will be able to return to my completely normal life (after i finish that annoying PT) all thanks to him. He really knows what he is doing because my foot could have been seriously messed up for the rest of my life. I'm as good as new. He can be alittle rough around the edges at first, but at the end of the day you can tell he truly cares about all of his patients and really loves what he does. I would recommend him to anyone who ends up in the same crappy situation I ended up in. Dr. Fiewell will fix your broken bones no problem, and if you are lucky, maybe even crack a few jokes while you are there. ALSO I JUST WANTED TO NOTE: The X-ray Tech that works for Dr. Fiewell (i never caught his name) is the best! He always remembered me and my mom when we came in for follow ups and always was just so helpful and nice. He made the times when i was very scared super easy to handle by just making some small talk and keeping my mind off my foot, while waiting for an Xray or a room. Thank you so much for that! Dr. Lawrence Feiwell and his staff are fantastic, his office is very comfortable, modern and clean. I have had two procedures done to my right knee. I had total replacement in jan. 2019, and a bone spur removed in may 2019. He and his staff went through each procedure step by step with me, they were very attentive to my needs. They were very thorough and meticulous during both procedures. Total knee replacement by Feiwell and staff best thing ever happened to me. I walk limp free for the first time in 20 years. I golf, ride my bike and shoot baskets with no swelling or pain. Great doctor, great staff, great results. read more

I first met Dr, Feiwell in the ER after breaking my collarbone in a bike accident in 1992. He has since seen me through severe back pain, pre/post back surgery, meniscus (knee) surgery, and arthritis pain management. He has always used a conservative approach, looking for non-invasive methods before recommending surgery. He is ready to listen and will explain options and procedures well. I am pleased with the results of my surgery and the shots I've had for my arthritis. He has a biting sense of humor at times, but is very caring. There is a VERY DISTINCT difference between being a "Medical Evaluation" patient and a private patient. I came to see Doc after some mild foot swelling from workouts. Found him under insurance. At first I was pretty freaked out by all the patients waiting, all in small groups, many with translators. Even lawyers calling on the phone being placed on hold! I was also put off by the office person who scolded me for being late. I was technically 5 mins early to my appointment and knew I couldn't make it, as requested, 30 mins early, for paperwork. I had called and had them email it to me prior...it was 100% filled out so I was actually quite on time. It still was not a friendly greeting when I actually was prepared and on time. I almost walked out and asked for my co pay to be reimbursed and the front convinced me to stay...that he was a good ortho, etc etc. I waited only 10 mins, was ex rayed, seen and got out of there in 45 mins total. Not bad. Doc was not warm and fuzzy or especially sincere, but I could care less about bedside manner over expertise. He gave me very practical advice and a solid plan to relieve the inflammation and I'm already 70% better. If you're a med evaluation patient for your work comp case, they are very clear on their website about how long it takes...plan for it! I bet they let you know that when you book as well. Quit the whining. If you're a private patient, you should be fine. He seems to know his stuff. Good Luck! read more

My wife went to Dr Feiwell after having surgery for carpal tunnel by another doctor. Less than 2 years after the surgery she was having a lot of pain in both wrists, so she looked for a new doctor who could give her some relief. She found Dr Feiwell and we are both very glad she did! He tested her and concluded she still had carpal tunnel and recommended she have the "open" surgery this time. After her surgery, Dr Feiwell said the first surgeon didn't do a very good job, as there was almost no relief to the nerve. After healing (very quickly) she has almost no pain or numbness that plagued her after the original surgery. Some of the negative reviews say Dr Feiwell doesn't have a good bedside manner, but my wife said he was very professional from the first appointment, but truly warmed up after they got to know each other. His staff is very courteous and efficient, and almost always she was seen in a timely manner. As an aside, she had to go to a QME appointment because this was a worker comp claim, and when the appointment was over the state-picked physician told my wife she had an excellent doctor as he helped train him! Bottom line, if you want a truly First Class Surgeon, you can't go wrong with Dr Feiwell. read more

Stay away!! We decided to give this Dr a chance after reading some poor reviews and some good reviews. Well the poor reviews proved true with our visit. My husband had a torn ACL and Miniscus, although we didn't know it at the time until after we did the MRI. My husband said that the Dr came into the room "guns blazing" and with COFFEE in hand! He said he immediately began to VERY ROUGHLY assess his leg. He didn't care how rough he was being and caused my husband a lot of pain. When asking him questions about the ACL, miniscus, disability and other possible symptoms from the injury he very arrogantly and rudely made us feel stupid saying "you don't know how the knee works? Let me explain how the knee works!" in a demeaning tone. Also when I asked him if other symptoms that were happening in his foot like gout could be a possible result from the injury he looked at me with a blank stare as if to say "what does that have to do with me? And then said that we should contact our primary care dr. Gout happens in the toe, he's a foot doctor ... I thought the question was valid. I asked him that I thought he would know because he is a podiatrist and that offended him and went on to list his accreditation's to me and even where he studied I believe. I mean who does that??? Then to top it all off when we were asking questions about disability (being this is our first time) he was very impatient with us and didn't explain the process clearly. When we asked a question again he seemed to get frustrated that we didn't "get it". He didn't even knock before coming in the room. I want to start by saying if I could give 10 Stars I would. I"ve been to more doctors and had more surgery"s than most so needless to say I've been to plenty of doctors, and Dr. Feiwell was by far the kindest most caring , gentle doctor I've ever met. He took the time to explain everything that he was going to do with my shoulder surgery. I originally only went to him for a second opinion and decided to cancel with the first doctor who I didn't care for because I felt he was arrogant and I felt rushed and he didn't take time to explain everything or make me feel comfortable about having the surgery. I chose to go with Dr. Feiwell because I felt he was honest and genuinely concerned about me as a human being not just about making money. Also he did a beautiful job on the incisions . After about 8 days you can barely tell I had three incisions in my shoulder. His staff is awesome too . Gina made it a point to always give me a hug whenever I went in there and gave me her home number after surgery in case I needed anything throughout the holiday weekend. I injured my knee and came to see Dr. Feiwell after getting a couple recommendations that he was an good surgeon. I did end up having surgery on my knee and felt that throughout the process Dr, Feiwell gave me excellent care. I came in as a private patient and was very pleased that at each appointment I never had to wait more than a few minutes. I found him to be thorough, informative and direct and I felt very confident that I was in good hands. Even though I did experience some miscommunication with his staff regarding insurance, I was very pleased that his billing manager handled the situation very professionally and that some procedures were even changed so that the same thing would not occur with anyone else. I found this to be a great indicator of how important the patient's needs were trying to be met by the staff also. I would highly recommend Dr. Feiwell to anyone in need of a good orthopedic surgeon and I will not hesitate seeing him again if needed - he's a keeper!! read more
