Honestly this was one of the worst massages I've ever had. Before we even got there I requested we have two women (as we are two women and are most comfortable with that). When I got our confirmation text, I saw my partner had a guy for hers. I called to ask why this was and they explained someone quit and they had to have him fill in. I understand the stress of that - but to not reach out to the clients about this change and to ask before they confirmed that? They said they could change the date so we could be with two women but we had already planned this night so I said it was okay. We came in for our couples massage yesterday and my partner and I both had bad experiences. My therapist barely felt like she was touching me - it was so light, it was ticklish. She didn't ask me once how the pressure was or anything either. She didn't do my arms and only part of my legs. I didn't like the hot towel because then I was just cold after. My partner's therapist didn't even do her legs! Completely said "Sorry, I ran out of time." This is a 60 minute massage and you don't have a basic structure? It's frustrating spending money on a service that isn't fully completed. When we told the front desk she was apologetic but just suggested coming back and they would let us do it again at a new client rate - which I don't think is satisfactory for the problem. I'm a student and splurged to have a good experience and was left with more pain than when I came in. Just an unfortunate waste of money. read more

Massage with Elizabeth was one of the worst I have ever had. There was no structure. A lot of light up and down movements for most of the massage . I can't even explain it. I almost laughed when she was "massaging" my neck because it felt like someone was just touching me. At one point her nails were scratching me. And then it abruptly stopped. No professional technique whatsoever. There was no concentration of the area that had a lot of pain. SUPER disappointed. She was a very awkward person. Didn't even read/go over the form I filled out. Why have me fill that out if you are going to ask me again the area I want concentrated on? Pricing seemed good though. I contemplated asking for a different person next time I go, but in reading other reviews I don't want to waste the $$. read more

Huge disappointment! LaVida missed the mark in so many ways. I purchased a gift card for my boyfriend in December and was given a $25 gift card by LaVida as a promotion when you spent $100. In January, when I attempted to book a couples massage, I was told the earliest availability was March due to a lack of massage therapists. Given schedules, we went on April 6th. We arrived 15 minutes before our 60 minute couples massage appointment time at 4pm as requested. I'm generous in saying that our massages lasted 50 minutes and were more of a pat down than a massage. Terrible. When we checked out, I was told that the $25 gift card was no longer valid, even though the schedule delays were on LaVida. Ridiculous. Please lower your expectations when considering this business and you'll be fine! read more

Facility- 5 very clean and organized. The ambiance is adequate! Safety- 5 temperature is a must. Receptionist- 5 very professional, knowledgeable of all the information. Therapist-5 techniques were enough to loosen a knots. Massage -4 deep tissue should be applied evenly from back to toes! Back was deep tissue massage and thighs down was mild tissue massage! But then again I don't have knowledge of their procedure. I hope I can get even strength next time I visit. Over all I love this place. read more

A few weeks ago I decided it was time for a massage. I had never had a professional massage or treatment done before and with years of intense daily workouts catching up to me, this was the best thing I could have done. The persistent knots in my upper back and traps were impacting my workouts and anything overhead was awkward and painful. My therapist, Brooke (if I recall correctly?), was able to pin point my troubled areas and work them out. I felt better immediately. The next day during my workout, and ever since then, I have not had a single issue with my traps/back/shoulders or doing things overhead. I traveled from Fayetteville to their Raleigh location because I had gift cards and this was the closest location but I wouldn't hesitate to make the hour long drive again and on a regular basis. Everyone as this facility are friendly and welcoming. The place itself is very relaxing and has a wonderful atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who needed some tender spots worked out or just need some relaxation. read more

It's been some years going to LaVida but it was always worth it, because I always left relaxed.....I can't say the same this time around. Definitely under new management. I went for my self care week. The day before I had gotten my hair done (I'm a black female in esthetics school with natural hair....so this is very important) I came to LaVida to receive a reflexology service & microdermabrasion facial (which I did NOT receive). I went home and cried after walking out with a hood on my head. I went into the spa with a press and curl, & left the spa with my hair reverted! Starting out, a rolled up wet towel was put behind my head, on my hair, completely unaware as to what she did because it wasn't communicated. Moved into the facial, and I was slapped with so many thick oils and creams, wet towels placed on my hair AGAIN, wrapped like a burrito in hot blankets, the headband placed on my edges was eventually inches back out of its original place, AND NO MICRODERMABRASION...which was also not communicated until mid procedure! Stating the equipment they had was barely working so it couldn't be performed. I was never given the option or courtesy call before my appointment to opt out of the facial, which is what I would have done if communicated with me in the beginning. As a student (now licensed esthetician) currently learning this field I was DISAPPOINTED, I wanted this facial as a learning experience. Instead I simply learned what NOT to do while servicing a client. My esthetician talked the entire time , about how she didn't like the field and how I shouldn't do it. And to end it ALL, I finally get up from my facial and there's gunks of lotion on my chest, my hairline, I look like a grease ball, and my hair had reverted....WASTE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY. I was scammed into getting a facial I did not ask for and it was NOT relaxing in the slightest. I went here for the first time yesterday and it was AMAZING! I had both a massage and a facial and had the best experience. Colton really focused of my trouble spots during my massage and relived so much tensions in my shoulders. My racialist Juliana was fantastic. I had originally booked a microdermabrasion appointment but after assessing my skin, Juliana suggested I do the acne treatment instead which she was 100% right about. I had so much inflammation when I first came in and woke up this morning and my skin looks 10x clearer and no more inflammation! I got in a car accident, a year ago. As a result, I have two bulging discs in my neck and one in my lower back. I feel like I'm constantly in pain. I have been going to LaVida massage for several months now to help relieve the pain. I have had three massage therapist all of which were great! However, one Message Tharepist Brooke, completely shattered my expectations about getting a message. She made sure to take special attention in ensuring that my pain areas were well taken care of, and that I was not in any further pain. Brooke showed the most up compassion to my needs and what I was suffering through. Being a massage therapist and having that kind of attention to detail is a great testiment to the La Vida Brand. There is not words to explain this amazing and relaxing experience. I can honestly say this was the first massage that I've had where my body actually left feeling no pain from my neck and back, and my whole body was tingling from how relaxed I was from the experience. ONCE UPON A TIME, this place used to be amazing. My husband and I were members but have recently canceled our membership due to changes within the staff. Thank goodness we canceled when we did! My husbands last massage was horrible and he had pain from it for days after. I went to get my last facial today. First, I had scheduled a microdermabrasion, and the lady gave me a regular facial. Not sure what happened there but I didn't say anything because I was already disappointed in what she had accomplished up to that point. Next, she was very rough and sloppy the entire time.. and was also extraordinarily LOUD (weird complaint right? But she was oddly loud.. like what a kid does when they are throwing a tantrum). The drawers and cabinets kept opening and closing and she didn't even try to be easy with them. I could also hear the plastic water bottle popping while she drank. Im completely ok with a therapist wetting their whistle but come on, use something that won't snap, crackle, and pop. Then, she didn't use any eye pieces and rubbed the different products all over my eyes, lids included. It's been 5 hours since I had the facial and my eyes are still burning!! The part where they use a "paint brush" (can't remember the technical term here) was my favorite part back when Julianna was there. Man do I miss her. Today, it was my least favorite. She did not apply the paste over my entire face like she should have but I was very relieved when she stopped. The paste she mixed together was very runny and dripped down inside of my ears and all down the back of my neck into my hair. It was a mess. A big mess. And far from relaxing. Th Oh yes and let me add this. I had missed my first appointment. First time I've ever done something like that. I felt awful about it. They charged me $25 for missing it.. and I was ok with that. That is the rule. BUT THEN, I show up when I was suppose to for the revised date, and they said "didn't you get a voicemail saying that she wasn't able to make it in today?" I had no call from them, and definitely no voicemail. I showed her my phone to prove that I didn't get a call. I had to reschedule and come back another day. She said, "I can add a perk for you since this was our fault" and I said "no thanks but can you remove the $25 charge for me missing my appointment because this error evens out my error." She was going to talk to manager.. I called 2 days later but she hadn't heard back from the manager yet... and I'm sure you can guess what happened. Absolutely nothing. I never heard a response from her or the manager. THE END. UPDATE 3-19 received call, the 25.00 fee was refunded. read more

We had an excellent experience with LaVida massage. My boyfriend and I went for massages together and we loved the place! The customer service was excellent. The spa itself was clean and very very relaxing. I agree with a previous post that the couples' room was not necessarily "romantic," but it was for sure clean, calm, and soothing. Plus, this is one of the few affordable places that even offers the option to get massages together in one room, so we were happy!! Our massage therapists, Daniel and Rosemary, were both professional, approachable, and courteous. They both wore scrubs, which stuck out to my boyfriend because it made the them seem extra professional and very clean. When the massages were over, the therapists gave us time to dress and then returned to give us each a glass of water and give us instructions as to how we can each make minor adjustments in our lives that will help with our overall health and comfort (putting a pillow under my knees when I sleep, for example). Since we were first-timers to the spa, we got the new client special. For us each to get an hour-long massage, it only came to $100.00! We added a few extras (aromatherapy and cold stone face massage for me, pain relief ointment for my boyfriend), and the total came to about $130.00. We felt like that was a TOTAL deal!!! We LOVED this place and highly recommend it. Although we live out of the area and won't be able to return for a while, we loved it so much that we will keep in mind as a great place to purchase a gift-certificate from... I had the most amazing massage here! The entire experience from booking to leaving was easy and enjoyable. I had some questions when I initially booked, and the receptionist was extremely helpful walking me through all of my options. I arrived and filled out 2 minutes of paperwork and was taken back immediately. Taylor was absolutely phenomenal. I've been getting massages for over 15 years, and I can honestly say she gave me one of the best massages I've ever had! She listened to what I told her and checked in to make sure the pressure was what I wanted. The atmosphere was really relaxing, and I can't wait to go back. I also appreciate that I didn't feel forced to sign up for their membership, like it I've experienced at other places in the past. I'm updating from my 2015 review. Unfortunately, over the last couple months this business has become so lacking in customer service that I can't recommend it to anyone. We are canceling our membership due to the fact that the Spa Manager herself has failed to call us back on three separate occasions when we were trying to make appointments. She may have given great facials but she is horrible at customer service and scheduling. These were on three totally separate occasions and we are members! I am most certainly not going to continue for a service I can't even get. Any business that treats their members like they don't matter does not deserve loyal paying customers. Read other reviews about the nuances of their membership program and don't expect better customer service. read more

I have been here 3 times and had 2 different people for massages. One was good, the other was okay (missed some areas for the massage and did one leg twice). Perhaps I am getting the newer staff, but nothing has blown me away for a fantastic massage yet. The staff is super sweet and it is a very calm and relaxing atmosphere.
