Found The Ruby Spa on Yelp and wanted to try them. The hard part was scheduling using there chatbot messaging system when you call and the limitation was you can only schedule same day and not ahead of time. We did get an appointment later in the day and was very happy with the massage provided. The techniques described by the other reviewers is correct and I was surprised that I had areas that I did not know were issues! For those that used the massage place at Southpoint Mall, The Ruby Spa is similar! Both of us felt the massages provided by The Ruby Spa is one of the best in the area!

We each had an attendant massage our arms and legs and feet, while we sat in very comfortable recliners. The attendants also used hot stones, which felt very nice. For the detox part we were hooked up to a machine and our feet placed in buckets of water for 30 minutes. We both kind of dozed off because we were so relaxed. I think next time I'd skip the detox and do more of the reflexology, and maybe add a pedicure! I wasn't sure what to expect but this was a really nice experience. I think it was great value for money too.

Just got finished with a couples massage, and it was fantastic!…read more I've gotten massages a handful of times in my time, but don't recall ever having a bad experience, but this one seemed better than those. This spa has only been in business for about two months, and my wife and I partook in a couples Swedish massage. I didn't catch anyone's name, but it seems like Mark was most likely my masseuse based on reviews here and on Google. He is definitely skilled at his trade. He was putting the right pressure, and it was extremely relaxing with the nice elevator music and massage oils on top. Very clean place and he was very welcoming and cordial and would make sure you were enjoying yourself throughout the service. The business is located in mediocre looking strip mall in Durham, which gave us some hesitancy, but don't let that sway you. This is probably the place my wife will come back to when she craving some R&R

I was able to get an appointment with Jennifer on a Sunday morning and it was one of the best massages I've ever received! I usually have to go to a therapist multiple times before I can really relax, but Jennifer made me feel completely at ease to the point that I fell asleep several times. About a week later I realized I hadn't been having back or sciatic pain all week after the massage. This is after at least a month of being in daily pain. The spa itself is lovely and everyone was very kind and welcoming. All together just a wonderful experience after a long week and a long conference. Afterward the Retreat even sent me a 10% off coupon for my next visit. Highly recommend!

She agreed and changed her schedule to accommodate them. When she arrived, she was told the therapist would be male. She politely explained that she was not comfortable receiving a massage from an unfamiliar male therapist and asked whether there was any alternative. The manager was extremely dismissive and rude and made essentially no effort to find a reasonable solution. What bothered us most was not simply the ClassPass policy--it was the way my wife was treated when she expressed a very personal and reasonable boundary. Instead of showing understanding, the manager repeatedly blamed ClassPass and made her feel like she was the problem. For a business offering such a personal service, professionalism, empathy, and respect for a client's comfort should be basic expectations. Based on how this was handled, I cannot recommend this place.

Throughout those years, I've gotten Swedish…read moremassages, deep tissue, hot stone, etc. While massages help my pain, it does not completely go away so I haven't been keeping up with them. My spine doctor suggested I get back on track with getting massages so I did some research and found Bull City Massage Therapy offered a massage called Myofascial Release. After reading the description of what it entailed, it sounded perfect for me. The Myofascial Release massage involves applying gentle, sustained pressure into myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. I easily booked a 60 minute session with Nina online through their app Vagaro. Nina was great and spent the whole 60 minutes massaging the pain area I requested. It was so nice to hear a crack of where the knot has been hurting me. While the pain is not completely gone (I'm not expecting a one session miracle), I was very happy with how I felt afterwards. Like my doctor, Nina also recommended that I keep up with this type of massage to truly help mitigate my pain. Bull City is located in the lower level of a building in downtown Durham. The business was very cozy with warm lighting. I went on a Saturday for my appointment and Bull City said I could park at the lot next to their building (because it was a weekend), but I was slightly nervous from all the tow signs even though the front desk employee assured me it was fine. I opted to park at the Church St. Parking Garage. It was a 5 minute walk and free when I was there. Please note that there is no guarantee it will always be free if downtown Durham has events on weekends. All in all, I'd go here again - especially for a Myofascial Release massage!
