Awesome experience! The staff was excellent! We began with whites and graduated through to their dessert wine. While tasting, we were treated to numerous cheese parings perfectly suited to many of the wines. We bought two bottles, two cheeses, and they waved the $5 each tasting fee. Absolute best of the best in Murphy's. The wine tasting is paired w cheeses and other various deliciousness. Super friendly staff and knowledgable w/o being pretentious or rude. The tasting room is stock full of lavender so the aromas are nothing short of divine. I used to live in Aix-en-Provence, and while I was strolling down Main Street in Murphys I was immediately transported back to southern France before I even knew what hit me! What was this lovely, thick scent of lavender laced with the fruity smells of wine?! It was as if my olfactory system guided me straight to Lavender Ridge's tasting room without even realizing my feet were moving! Walking into the tasting room, I was overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of lavender coating the ceilings, piled in bundles in baskets and featured in virtually every product on display. Unfortunately, that is where my fascination with this place ended. Let's face it - I was drawn to the store because of the scent - and it did its job! However, the wine itself was very, very average. And, as other reviewers have mentioned, the gift products were extremely overpriced. Finally, I found the tasting room staff to be on the I'm-too-important-for-you side, which was downright silly considering there were hardly any guests there! In short, I think this place is worth a visit for a sensory journey. And it was fun to try some wine, though it only contributed to a buzz...not to a true oenophile experience. read more

I am usually not one to knock it if I haven't tried it, but this experience was literally the biggest disappointment... Never having been to Murphys and having yelped my trip beforehand... THIS was the winery I most wanted to try. I had yelped and mapped out my day of touring the many wineries on Main based on the ratings, but most importantly, the times that they closed. Lavender being one of the few that stays open later, I chose to visit other wineries that closed earlier in the day, first.... Until I could handle it no longer! Around 4:30 we walked down to the vineyard I had my heart set on to find a sign on the door saying that they were closing at 5 for a cheese event. Dismayed, I looked down at my phone and to my short-lived elation, I noticed it was only 4:30! I attempted to push open the door and found it locked. I tried to flag down the people inside to see if perhaps I could gain access to this event, I was willing to pay whatever cost. They looked at me, then at each other rolling their eyes, and back at me with pissy looks, mouthing "we are closed"... Needless to say, I walked away extremely irritated and completely let down. read more

Cute place, mediocre wines (personally, I thought that Vina Moda down the street had better tasting wines). Along with tastings, they offer cheese & crackers (yummeriffic Cypress Grove 'Purple Haze' Chevre - LOVE it!! one of my fav's). They have a boutique within the wine shop carrying everything under the Sun you can imagine in lavender hues & scents - from candles, soaps, and lotions to recipes using lavender and an assortment of olive oils (sidebar: for some odd reason, I swear that some of the lavender smelled like pee-pee?? (aka human urine, eww)...the overwhelming smells grossed me out after a while). They grow organically, so that's a plus! read more

We live locally and went to Lavender Ridge for the first time this weekend. The fragrance when entering is so wonderful and inviting! We really enjoyed their locally grown wines! We purchased several bottles. We especially enjoyed the cheese pairings with the wines. Rocio was such a knowledgeable and hospitable host. Plan on bringing our friends back next time!! read more

Lavender Ridge offers the most complete tasting experience in Murphys. They have great wines, and they pair almost every pour with a fine, complex cheese. (The cheeses are available for purchase in a case by the front door). I was offered a freshly baked chocolate cookie with my petite syrah, and while I found it questionable at first, it was amazing! They have some of the best lavender products around, and the pourers are very friendly. I noticed a 25-year-old balsamic vinegar on the shelf and asked the people behind the counter what they thought of it. They offered to let me taste it, as well as two others. I ended up buying it. When I was there two years ago, I thought the scent of lavender was a bit overpowering while wine tasting. It was still there this time, but was much more subtle and I actually enjoyed it. I highly recommend visiting them. read more

We almost overlooked this one, as we were getting ready to leave town. It was recommended to us a local restaurant and, as I recall, the wines (or maybe just the whites?) are organic, which got my curiosity up. So glad we stopped. We visited Lavender Ridge this past Saturday, March 5th about 2pm. Only 2 of us went in to taste, as the other 7 in our group had to eat lunch. Lunch? Who needs lunch when there is wine to taste? Lavender Ridge does serve cheese with some of their wines... We were joined by 1 more after he scarfed down some soup from a couple of stores down. The funny thing when my friend Michelle and I came into the winery, was that there were about 16 ladies tasting, and no guy in sight. Every man's dream, except for the fact that I am happily married. haha It was pretty interesting though, as this did not happen at any of the other wineries. Anyways, 1 of the 2 lady pourers came over quickly to offer us glasses. Great service. I forgot her name, but she was very knowledgeable about the wines, and very friendly. She poured 10 wines for us, of which 5 of them had a cheese. Some of the wines they poured that we liked were: 09 Rousanne, 08 Mourvedre, 07 Syrah, and 08 Petite Sirah. I really liked the Syrah, and bought a bottle of that. The tasting room is very spacious, with many items for sale including cheeses, clothing, lavender products, and several library wines. I visit Murphys a few times a year for wine tasting and this is my favorite winery! Excellent wine in an adorable tasting room with tons of fun things to buy (great place to find gifts)! All the employees I have encountered have been very friebdly and knowledgable. I recently joined the wine club so I can enjoy Lavender Ridge wine even when I'm not in Murphys. 3.5 stars. Fantastic cheese selection, unique setting, lots of foodie bits and bobs for purchase. I haven't loved the wine here and the service can be spotty depending on who you get, but I do like the ambiance, great space for groups. Lighten up people!The scent and the charm of the tasting room draw you right through the lavender doors.A very sweet girl poured for us and gave us wonderful wine and cheese pairings and patiently answered all our questions.Yes,the products are pricey,but that itty bitty jar of blueberries with wild thyme goes quite a long way and what a taste sensation.We brought them all the way back to Ohio and shared them with friends over a bottle of wine and it was worth every penny.Beautiful little tasting room! read more

My sister, brother in law, and I went wine tasting at Lavender Ridge and we were very impressed with the quality of their wines. The wines are paired with cheeses from local artisans; the cheese and wine samples are very generous. The staff at the winery made us feel very welcome and all of the wines we tasted were of exceptional quality. It is hard to choose a favorite -- from the Roussane grape which I had not tasted before which was amazing to the Petite Serah which was so delicious! I definitely recommend going wine tasting at Lavender Ridge and Coppermine wineries for a most pleasant experience!!!! read more
