It is in a beautiful, historic, laid back setting yet it has all the amenities...a delicious breakfast that can be eaten in the main house cafe, outside on the porch or in your room. There's a small onsite pool with a pool house that includes a shower, restroom and beverages. There's a wine and cheese pairing offered each evening and chocolates are left on the doorknob. In addition, bikes are offered for your enjoyment as well as water bottles (which were a lifesaver in the humidity of early June). Besides all of the wonderful amenities, the design and decor of 86 Cannon are beautifully put together. I look forward to returning in the future.

You will feel like you are visiting family or friends. The hospitality of the owners is quite special. The proprietor clearly made an effort to wear a mask and book fewer people at a time, for social distancing. I was absolutely delighted with my stay. The property is secure. I felt safe as both a lone female traveler and one with the desire to not be around the crowds of big hotels during these challenging times in our nation. I could truly relax. I stayed in the Palmetto which was a very kind upgrade as I booked the Indigo. The Palmetto is spacious enough for a seating area and has a great view of back garden. There is the sound of road traffic early evening but thereafter it is very peaceful. The wi-fi was great, the room was clean, there is an iron with an ironing board, hair dryer, lots of closet space and breakfast was perfect. I loved the fact that the a/c not only worked well and cooled evenly but was not overwhelmingly and annoyingly loud which I find in many hotels. The Boone Plantation is just around the corner. Downtown Charleston is a reasonable distance away and has some great, great restaurants. I highly recommend Magnolias. Lyft and Uber service the area but I would stick with Uber in Charleston, and Mt. Pleasant, in general. Lyft was not very dependable. I very much look forward to staying here on my next visit.

This one gives you the feeling that it still is a major work in progress. We were in room 11. It is behind the reception desk. Upon closing and locking up the reception area in the evenings, the only way to access our room was by going outside to the back of the house and up the narrow staircase. That seemed a little odd but it was okay. I found it strange that the Keurig and water and such was in the basement area as well. I felt it should have probably been in the dining area or even hallway. The floor in our room was completely unfinished which was a concern as socks would get snagged on it. The breakfasts were okay but they never change the menu and it's not cooked on site but rather prepackaged and heated in the microwave or oven. BUT...The topper was the cold. We literally froze in our room the last night. So cold that when I stepped on the tile floor in the bathroom the bottoms of my feet hurt. There is a system in our room that I had set to heat & 74 yet it never warmed up. We checked out a day early as the portable heater in our room that was in there as well blew the breaker. The sweet young lady offered to check the breakers but at this point I think we were done trying. Again... we LOVED the staff and interaction with the other guests. I wish the owner the best as I know it can't be an easy or inexpensive property to own.

This was my first trip to Charleston for work. After seeing that this was one of Drury's newer…read morehotels, I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. The hotel is excellent. It is not in the most scenic part of Charleston, but it is convenient to plenty of food options and only a short drive to downtown. Traffic can get busy in the afternoons, but that seems to be the case just about anywhere. From the moment I checked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming. You can tell this property is still fairly new. One of my favorite parts of Drury stays is the extras, and this location delivered. Free popcorn is available anytime, and the 5:30 Kickback was one of the better ones I have experienced. They serve a full dinner, and you get three free drinks. You could easily stay in and have a full meal without leaving the hotel. The pool was clean and well-maintained. I used the gym every day. It has your typical hotel gym equipment. The only improvement I would suggest is better cleanliness in the gym area. I stayed in a king suite, which was very spacious. It would be a good setup for a family as well. The bed was softer than I prefer, and the pillows were fine but nothing special. Overall, the room was comfortable and roomy. If you are expecting a luxury or boutique hotel, this is not it. That is not what Drury is trying to be, and that is perfectly fine. I have stayed at plenty of Hampton Inns and similar hotels. This was a much better experience. I felt safe, the staff was friendly, and I would absolutely stay here again the next time I am in Charleston.

Great staff. Our room was on the first floor. We had a patio which was near the pool but being there less than 24 hours total, we didn't get to enjoy as much of the hotel as I wish we could. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. Might be the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in. We had a cocktail in the Lobby bar and ate at the Jasmine Porch restaurant which were only short walks from our room. Our room was clean. Had a nice sitting area. Towels that were the size of blankets. Beautifully smelling soap and shampoo. A lighted makeup mirror. We got some free postcards which I was super excited about as I always send postcards to friend and family from our many adventures. The hotel exudes elegance and makes their guests feel special. Loved it.

We had just come from another bed and breakfast from our stay in Maine which wasn't the best so our fingers were crossed coming to Barksdale and we were so blown away by the quality and service provided. We stayed in room 13 which is on the second floor of the carriage house across from the main house. Our flight didn't get in until 8pm, the Inn texted me day of to see what time we were arriving. since we came in late they sent us very thorough late check in instructions which made the processes super smooth. There are multiple keys for the different houses and rooms which made the stay feel very safe and secure. our room was very cold in the SC heat and was very clean, spacious and very nice and cozy. There's an entry way to the room a very large bathroom with a tub and a large room with two closets a dresser and tv with all streaming services and a giant comfy bed. Breakfast is complimentary in the main house and is not just bagels and muffins, there are eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, pastries, parfaits and more it was a really great selection as well as a quality food that would compete with any local breakfast diner. The inn sets clear expectations as far as service provided as well as amenities. Room turnover is NOT daily but they are more than willing if requested. Overall our experience with the Barksdale house was exceptional and we would 100% rebook if returning to Charleston again!!
