Located near Downtown Victoria, in a very true Texas bbq looking building is the delicious and unique spot. Good bit of parking and indoor/outdoor seating with lots of fans for the summer months. The visit I had here was pretty special. We stopped by for a late weekday lunch and were helped every step of the way in deciding our meal. We were given samples and top notch hospitality from everyone there, which always helps when we bring our 1yr old. The BBQ is excellent, for my taste as a backyard BBQ'er, it tasted and felt authentic. Brisket was moist and tender, not over/under seasoned. Central Texas sausage was snappy and juicy on the inside. There were surprising hits like the Big Red Pork ribs, was not fully prepared for how well that flavor would work! The Barbecue inspired tamales were another house special that stood out, pulled pork&brisket encased in mass wrapped in butcher paper and smoked. The creativity extended to the desserts and sides as well, as we had a really tasty pork belly maple cheesecake. Sides didn't leave as big of an impression with me, and the bathrooms are a little funky to get to. Definitely telling my friends and family passing through Victoria to give this place a try!!

Jesus, Texas, Brisket. I am going to make the assumption that those are the three things loved by the owners of the restaurant. If I had to come up with my three favorite things, Texas would not be on the list. However, brisket would most certainly be there. I love brisket. Not that dry lame brisket you get at most places. Moist, juicy (I know those are almost the same), flavorful, and tender Texas brisket. Lavaca BBQ gets it. I am in town for a week for work and have been trying to come here all week. But today is the first day they've been open. Amazing, awesome, phenomenal, hells yeah are all adjectives to describe my experience. I can also sum up how much I liked it this way. I'll be back tonight for dinner and probably here for lunch tomorrow and maybe dinner too. First, let me begin with the people. These are the nicest people in bbq I've ever met. BBQ people are often friendly but these folks made me feel like family the moment I walked in. You don't get that everywhere. Heck, you rarely get that anywhere. The food was excellent. The brisket was exactly as described above. Think world-renowned brisket people wait hours for. It was that good. The Serrano and cheese sausage was also excellent. This was quite possibly the best cheese and pepper sausage I've ever had. The sauces are all good. They had beef, spicy, and Texas Bold. When I return I may forgo a drink and just make a cup of Texas Gold. Yeah. It's that good. I can't wait for dinner. They're saving me a tamale so the day will drag by knowing I get this amazing BBQ tonight. If you're in Victoria or within several hours, make the trek. Lavaca is legit. Note: I ate here Thursday and Friday for lunch and dinner. Everything was amazing and I am a little sad I had to leave town Saturday.

Tried a new BBQ place and it is my favorite so far. We were welcomed with open arms and samples. Yes samples. We got the 3 meat platter with brisket, big red ribs and the El Cochinito pork. Sides were beans and the jalapeno creamed corn. The brisket was perfection. The pork was topped with a salsa and was so flavorful and tender. The ribs were a little sweet for me, but my husband loved them. Beans were very good and we could eat that jalapeño creamed corn all day everyday. Finished the meal with the peach cobbler and smoked cheesecake. The cobbler was good. The cheesecake?? It was what cheesecake dreams are made of. It was incredible. The whole meal was delicious. The platter came with picked red onions, lightly pickled cucumbers and jalapeño slices. Everyone there was attentive and treated us like family. We sat outside with our little dog and they brought her a puppy pack which had a bottled water, water dish and a treat. We are so happy that we found this gem and cannot wait to go back! We just wish that we lived closer.

4.5 stars here-Victoria branch of this Texas Monthly magazine top fifty in the state list. Large nondescript building, possibly an old garage with picnic tables inside on the wide open floor area. Huge ceiling fans helped cool the space on this hot day. a nice young man learning customer service invites you to ask questions and directs you to the order window. There the owner is the one taking your order. She was a real treat as she clearly loves what she and her family do. The original location is in LaVaca and her daughter is the pit master. The meat is smoked at that location and transferred to Victoria. The business is in the process of building a pit room in Victoria and when finished the process will be reversed. The menu includes the expected meats by the half pound, sandwiches, tacos & tamales, along with jumbo baked potatoes. Exciting to see pork belly but did not choose it today. We chose the two meat platter with turkey and pork ribs. The side choices were the green beans and potato salad from a list that includes jalapeno cream corn, mac & cheese. and gumbo. The platter also came with two slices of homemade white bread which put any wonder bread to shame. After one bite it's clear why they made the Texas Monthly list. The turkey and the pork ribs had excellent flavor with no need for any sauce (beef, Texas hot, and mustard offered here). Light peppery bark with a hint of sweetness. Beautiful pink pork with a deep burgundy smoke ring. The turkey was simply one of the best I've enjoyed at a BBQ spot. Moist and full of flavor. Strangely the green beans were very, very sweet and not in a pleasant way I'm afraid. The potato salad wasn't my favorite here either as I prefer a chunkier style. These were similar to whipped potatoes. If you like banana pudding even a little bit, I cannot recommend the version served here highly enough. Matter of fact, you might want to start with this as the meats and sides keep better as leftovers. Silky, delectable banana flavor, and topped with candied pecans. Accompanied by a house made vanilla wafer. Do not believe I have ever had the pleasure of tasting a better banana pudding then the one served here. As we left, the nice young man was offering samples and holding the rapt attention of a group who had just arrived. We were offered a brisket sample. Small and fatty, but very tasty and was great with the beef bbq sauce. Something to remember when we get here again. Can just imagine the experience being even greater once they have the onsite smoking in place. Fantastic meal made by folks that love what they do.

Great barbecue! Pitmaster stopped by my table to check on me. We had a nice conversation. If I'm ever in Victoria again I will definitely stop back by.

First time here and this is my first Texas BBQ in Victoria. I love it. I love it that right when we walk in, the Owner of the store walk straight to us, greet us and gave us the details to the menu. He took the time out to tell us about the history of the Resturant and how much time and effort they put into all their dish. He is very friendly along with all his staff. Food taste better with great customer service. All the meat we order are so flavors are good! I will be coming back. 9/10

Found this place kind of by accident but glad I did. Did the two meat plate brisket and Serrano cheese sausage with poblano corn and brisket beans. It all tasted pretty damn good. Moist brisket and perfectly cooked sausage. Great service also!! Will be back for more soon.

Rib, creamed corn, Mac and cheese, coleslaw, turkey, and brisket.

Located on the older side of town a block past DeTar Navarro Hospital on a corner. Don't judge it by the outside, it's inside an older building, I knew I was there from the smell of the Bbq cooking in the air. Inside was cheerful clean and filled with picnic and smaller tables, seat yourself. You place your order at the counter and they bring it out to your table. The gentleman taking my order was friendly and welcoming. Turns out he was the owner! In 3 minutes a sweet young lady was bringing me my food and utensils. They have all of the meats plus all the homemade sides one would wish to order! I went with the two meats (ribs and brisket) accompanied by potato salad and green beans, with banana pudding for dessert later. It's not a full service restaurant but I was checked on and looked after multiple times by servers. Nice big generous helpings. This meal was heavenly, sides like your Memaw would make for family and moist and meaty ribs and brisket, seasoned and cooked perfectly...no salt or pepper needed here, just a little of their delicious sauce! My mouth is watering as I recall it! I will visit them again every time I get to Victoria! Wish I could take them home with me.

I got brisket and sausage with a double order of green beans. The green beans were the star if the show. Nicely seasoned with a bit of a fresh garlic flavor. Good. The brisket was a bit dry and not very flavorful and the sausage was fair. This may have not been the norm but I cant say I'd eat here again.
