All she wanted for her birthday was a nice afternoon tea. We left London and were basically driving sort of toward the coast just stopping wherever we found a tea shop. Unfortunately, every tea shop we hit was closed because of some bank holiday we were unaware of. Except one! We got to Glynde, parked outside this tea shop, went in, and found a large sign that said "cash only". OMG this wasn't our day. We had to go to the next town over to use the ATM which sucked, but we weren't in any hurry and we really liked the look and feel here. We came back, got seated, opened the menu, and right at the top it said afternoon tea available with reservation only. We were devastated. I saw the look in my wife's eye and there was no way I was not getting her this afternoon tea! I approached the woman working and explained our situation and before I could even fight for the experience she told me not to worry, she would get us taken care of. BLESS HER! We had a wonderful visit and would recommend the experience to everyone in the area. Fast forward to this year. I knew how much my wife loved that visit and decided to reach out and ask if they had any ideas of what I could get her for her birthday this year. Joanne reached back out with an amazing gift and shipped it to us and it amazingly arrived on her birthday! She also included a nice birthday card for her! Amazing people that went out of their way twice to make us happy. They will forever be apart of our story and hopefully we have the chance to return soon! Thank you!!!

This is a great place for a very reasonable breakfast, lunch, snacks and teas. It was recently taken over and the food has improved substantially, hot specials are available every day and they are open 364 days a year. I had a delicious shepherds pie and my mother had a red onion, feta and spinach quiche with lovely fresh salad. Fabulous home made cakes too, especially the carrot cake, which was very moist, rich and with lots of icing.

The walls and chairs are a shocking pink, the owner is just adorable and the smell is of baking cookies. We went in for an afternoon coffee and perhaps a nibble on something sweet. We got two HUGE cups of tea and coffee (honestly, the capitals were needed!) a muffin and a cookie (again HUGE) for 4 quid. Yep, 4 quid in total. I know, I couldn't believe it either! It was just so lovely! The perfect place for a princess to enjoy her tea, or ice cream - the ice cream counter looked great! It's got a theme, and that theme is scrupulously applied. It was obviously busy as many tables were occupied with families celebrating Mother's Day. The décor is lovely and homely. Everywhere was spotlessly clean including the bright white toilet with a great smelling hand wash! The reason for the visit was celebrating my friend's 30th birthday. The waitress even noticed her badge and congratulated her - nice touch! The cake was delicious! They had great gluten-free cakes which I tried. They have more seating available downstairs, so if it looks full, ask if they have any tables downstairs. Overall, I would highly recommend this tea room and will definitely be returning with my friends and family in the future.

But, in my defense, whilst I knew this place was here, I thought it was the cafe at the bottom of the park - which is always packed to the rafters. This place is right at the back of the park near the Blackheath entrance. Usually I don't walk this way. But I'm so pleased i did! Why? Well they do the yummiest ice cream. Jersey cream ice cream. All tasty and lovely and perfect. The queue wasn't a mile long, the service was friendly, and they hadn't run out of strawberry. They're my new favourite people. A double scoop is £3, but then you get to stroll through the park to the deer enclosure eating ice cream, so it's £3 well spent. There's outside seating as well, but why would you want to sit there when you can get some grass between your toes in the sunshine?! Great find. I'll be walking to the park the back way from now on.

Elle had gunpowder tea, a cheese scone (gotta have one! - not gluten free though) a gluten free toasted ham and cheese sandwich and some gluten free chocolate cake! Everything was delicious, the service was excellent, the waiting staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We sat with the sun shining through the door, with little sparrows, robins and other little birds flying up to the door and looking back at us. It was a really wonderful start to a day and I can't recommend them highly enough, they never disappoint and everything is exactly the same as they had been when we last visited. Ate everything before I thought about photographs lol....Can't wait to visit again.....
